He was biking down the road and a pickup truck turned into him. He flew off over the hood of it. Thankfully he was wearing his helmet. He's 23.
He just called us to let us know. He's in NH and we are in FL. I told him to go to the ER to get checked out. At the time he didn't think he was hurt but now that he's coming down off that adrenaline rush he's not feeling good. He hit his head and is having problems with the vision in the left eye. Hurt his hip, elbow, and jaw.
I called my sister that lives the next town over and she is heading over to the ER to be with him and over see things for me.
He didn't get any info from the guy that hit him but got enough incidental info that the police should be able to track him down. I told him to let the ER know that he needs to talk with a cop to file a report ASAP.

I'm a basket case. :sad1:

Hang in there. I know I'd be going crazy if I were in your shoes. Update us when you can. In the meantime, I'll be thinking about you.

How frightening for you - being so far away.. Excellent idea that you insisted he see a doctor.. I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers - and hopefully you will have good news soon..:goodvibes

I can only imagine how you are feeling. It's wonderful that your sister can go to the ER to be with him. I'm sure she'll keep you posted on him.

Does he live alone? Since he hit his head, could he stay with your sister tonight so she can check on him?

prayers and thoughts for you and your son. Hope he's feeling better soon.

Oh no, what a horrible phone call to get. I'm so sorry you are going through something like this. :hug:You'll be in my thoughts:flower3:

 As if you don't have enough on your plate already. I hope everything checks out OK with him. I'm sure you very worried about him, but at least your sister is with him.

Wow, that's really scary. So sorry you have this to worry about.
Thank goodness he was wearing a helmet.

I hope everything will be fine. Very frightening.

How very scary :guilty:, thankfully he was wearing a helmet. Glad you convinced him to seek care and know it must be comforting your sister can be with him. Sending postive thoughts you get good news soon and he bounces back 100%.

Hope you get some good news about your son soon! It's hard to be so far away from our children. So glad your sister is nearby to help out!

Wow, I am so sorry. Awful call to get. I am glad your sister lives close enough to go to him. Keeping you in my thoughts.

when my son was 13 I got the call too. Just "your son has been hit by a car and is in an ambulance on way to the hospital". Scared me to death, didnt know what to expect. Heard on way to hospital that the car ran over both his legs, so I was expecting 2 broken legs, at least. Story was he was on skateboard and a minivan ran a stopsign. he hit the side of the van and back wheels did run over both legs. got to hospital, he was scraped up pretty bad from waist to ankles. right knee was messed up for awhile, thought he might have to have surgery there for awhile. left leg okay tho you could see the tire marks..SO I know what you saying and hope your son makes a full recovery. Its very scary..

Small update;
They did an xray on his neck. Until the y know the results of that they are waiting on the other tests so they know how to proceed. We know he'll be having a CT scan of his head and an xray of his shoulder and femur. He's really hurting.
The police cam and took a report and are going to try to track the guy down.
So happy my sister is there with him

Ironically, this is the second child of mine to be hit by a pickup truck. When my oldest son was 16 he was hit while riding his bike. Broke both legs and was in the hospital for 13 days. :guilty:
