My brother use to do this as well - I think it is just preteen boy syndrome :) And yes my brother was a little spoiled as well and use to getting everything he wanted. He use to make vacations the ultimate war zone - Good News....He grew out of it!

Yes in August I had a pep talk with my three kids, do not be whiny, things will not always go your way, it will be hot, etc.... The oldest 13 year old was fine, he just goes with the flow. The two youngest ones got on my last nerve. It was always about me, me, me, what they wanted to ride, when they wanted to go swimming. Keep in mind, we did cater to their whims most of the time, if DS wanted to go on RNR, DD and I got in line for Fantasmic. We even sat for Fantasmic for 50 min., with 10 min. to go, great seats front and center -- DD announces she is tired and wants to go NOW. DS the 13 year old, just rolls his eyes and goes - "I knew it". I made her stay, we did not cave in constantly, but they whined a LOT. We went in August so DS wouldn't miss middle school. DH and I planned a solo trip in October for a conference he had. The two youngest ones started bugging me as time got closer - can we go too? I said NO WAY! I had the best trip, didn't even go on rides, just walked around soaked in the atmosphere and enjoyed the Food and Wine Festival. Called it my Wine without the WHINE tour. I love my kids dearly but sometimes you need a break, and I need to remind them the world doesn't revolve around their wants.
