My sister and her husband were traveling by themselves to celebrate their 15 anniversary!!

They had an ADR 180 days in advance at CalifGrille to celebrate their special day!

Much to their surprise, when they checked in, they said that the reservation had been cancelled about 1 month prior and someone had used her name to cancel it....

She was in disbelief! The manager could see that they were distraught and was able to "fit them in" anyway which took a little time...

They now believe that someone from "inside" wanted her time at that particular time of evening and removed her name and pretended that it was her cancelling...

Has anyone else ever had this happen? Thank goodness the manager was so kind to work with them.. Her advice now is check your reservations in advance for any special
in demand restuarants!!!!!!!!

Anyone ever experience this?

We have been going to WDW since 1971 and have never had a problem with having a dining cancellation.

I am happy to hear that your sister was still able to dine at the CG for her special day. How wonderful that the staff still managed to accomodate them!

We've never had an issue with any of our ADRs. I'm pleased they were able to get in anyway and hope they enjoyed their meal.

We actually had an issue with a dinner ADR at Cali Grill this June. The ADR was originally for a party of 2. That reservation was cancelled and rebooked for a party of 4. When we checked in, they couldn't find a ressie. After some checking, she saw that the ressie had been cancelled and rebooked, but it wasn't showing up in the restaurant computer? Anyway, after some "discussion" we were allowed to be seated by the manager.

Glad that your sis and her husband could get a table.

We've had ressies cancelled too, but have always chalked it up to making lots of changes. I could totally see this as being possible - yikes! Glad it worked out as we love Cali grill.

THey can see what date and time the reservation was accessed and canceled. If there is no phone call associated with that time then the cast member that cancelled it will no longer be working for WDW

The amazing thing about internal auditing is that a guilty party will be discovered ~ it might take a while. I would think this is not an isolated incident, so hopefully that person has already been relieved of his/her responsibilities. Kudos to the CMs who worked your sis in.

It could happen soooo easily. I called yesterday to make a new ressie and cancel an existing one.

The CM asked for the res. number, and evidently I had written it down wrong. Thankfully, she confirmed the restaurant & time, and I knew that wasn't ours. She was then able to look it up by our phone number and cancel the right one.

If someone wasn't really paying attention, or if the CM didn't confirm the reservation info, they could easily cancel someone else's reservation by mistake.

I was reading this and said, MY GOSH! The same thing happened to me and my friends! Then I scrolled down and saw your pic. :rotfl:

Funny, the same thing happened to me recently too! I called to cancel ADR's for a then-possible July trip, but the CM told me that someone had cancelled them about a month prior. I checked my phone records and I hadn't called WDW in four months! :scared1:

So, be safe and call every once and a while to see if your ADR's are still there! :thumbsup2

We always call and verify our itinerary a couple weeks prior to leaving for vacation. We also ask for a printed copy when we check in. That way we can verify locations and times.

Just another reason why it's a good idea to double check those reservations! You just never know.

I would encourage your sister to take it up with Disney once she's home - they record everything in their system and will be able to tell exactly who canceled it when. Could have been a mistake, could have been intentional, either way it might prevent it from happening to someone else.

Glad CA Grill was helpful!

I will definitely call and verify beforehand next time as well. I had 6 adr's for various placed during our recent ddp trip. All went well, except coral reef. They had no record of our ADR at all. I had the adr #, but left it back in the room. They did find us a seat after a bit of a wait. So it all turned out fine.

Calling and checking, in some people's mind, increases the risk it will get cancelled. The more your reservations get handled, the bigger the chance something goes wrong. And if it is gone, there isn't a lot that can be done anyway - other than the same thing they do for you at the restaurant, try and work you in as quickly as possible.

WDW has TONS of guests, some with similar names and similar reservations. We've had dining reservations under a name not remotely similar to ours because the CM didn't spell the name even close - but they were our reservations. Mistakes get made. People call and cancel reservations for Johnston on the 12th and the CM finds the reservation for Johnson on the 14th and thinks its the right reservation. And Mr. Johnston says - when they are confirming the cancellation "yeah, yeah, whatever, Johnston, California Grill, that's me."

Our Thanksgiving reservation for 1900 Park Fare was cancelled last year.:confused3 I never "checked" on my reservations and did not double book. Luckily, we had our confirmation number with us and we had the very first seating so they were able to fit us in. We thought the same as you, someone high up at Disney wanted our table for 6 at 1900 PF for Thanksgiving dinner and we were the lucky ones who got our reservation cancelled. In all honesty I have no clue what happened and it all worked out in the end.:goodvibes I am glad they were able to work your sister in! Let this serve as a reminder to always bring your confirmation numbers with you every time you have a reservation.

Exactly!

We had that happen at Alfredos a few years ago. They swore we didn't have a reservation, and they weren't helpful in finding one but instead just kept telling us to join the loooooooooooon standby line outside. I finally bent over the hostess stand and looked at the computer myself, upside down, and found a butchered spelling of our fairly unique last name.

I wonder how many times that happens to people who are told they don't have a reservation, too.

I just checked on a reservation i had changed for August 3rd and was told I had no reservation. So, at that point i went thru 8 days of reservations with the CM. Yes, all my reservations were good even the one I was originally told was not there. There were a couple of reasons they did not show

1. Several different spellings of my name
2. reservation listed under different phone number. If you call one reservation in from your home phone they tag your reservation with that number. If you call another reservation in with your cell phone they tag it with that number. And in my case I had called from our other home line, so I had reservations tagged with 3 different phone numbers.

So, if they tell you no reservation check all the possible errors.

And I have also looked on the screen to see my name at a restaurant with a bad spelling. So, if you are at a restaurant and you know you have a reservation then step up and look at their screen . HOPE THIS HELPS!!

When she was so upset that she followed up with Disney Guest Relations, she was told that in order to cancel a reservation, CM's should ask three things, confirmation #, name, and resort reservation # if staying on site.....

I have cancelled several reservations and have NEVER BEEN ASKED FOR RESORT RESERVATION #!!!!

That would also serve as another layer of protection possibly!

Glad it worked out for my sis!:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes
