I know the Changing Dyanmics of the Show thread was closed, but I need to say that if I had known what kind of nasty back and forth would ensue, I never would have posted. I'm a big fan of the show and the team, and didn't mean to insight. I think I'll just stay as a quiet listener and poster in the future. Again, love the show.
Hello everyone,
I guess i'm what everyone calls a lurker. Me and my partner have been listening to the podcast for three years! We frequent the blogs and sometimes skim the forums just for fun. Recently during our drive down to Walt Disney World to celebrate my partners birthday we were catching up on backlog of podcast and we BOTH commented on how commercial the Dis Unplugged has been sounding in recent months. We're both fans of the show and have even sent e-mails to the crew to participate - my husband even wears his Dis Unplugged t-shirt!
We both badly wanted to sign up for the Podcast cruise it sound like so much fun! However the economic reality prohibited that, and while that and the Mouse Fest event was a great way for Dreams Unlimited to show love for audience - it was also filled with cost-promotions and audio product placement. Even Pete admitted it was the first time they promoted vendors on the show, but it was for a special event. Nowadays it seems like every week the show pushing for something that cost money and hyping it like hotcakes! The show content is awesome, and every entertaining. Like having friends over every week to talk about our favorite place in the world. That said, we have noticed the difference. (No, we're not complaining, it's just our observation). And bosox2001 you where correct in your first post.
I did a google search about the podcast to see if anyone else had the same observation and when I saw how people flamed you, I decided to step out and speak up... but again we're not complaining, we realize the podcast is FREE and our economy is down the tubes.
Does your name start with an R and end with an ex?
The original thread was closed because it had been hijacked. The original post was fair game and so is this one.
As I said earlier in this thread, I welcome feedback that is constructive, even if it's not what I want to hear. I need to know how people are perceiving things we're doing on the show. It forces me to step back and ask myself questions. I love that so many love the show and tell us all the time how much they appreciate our work. But I equally appreciate constructive, fair-minded criticism. It's the only way I can improve the show in specific, and the site in general.
Let's not assume that anyone that says they find the show getting too commercial is posting under an assumed name or should be dismissed as a 'troll' out of hand. I find no evidence to suggest either on this thread and I welcome the feedback.
Pete
Wait, the other thread was closes? As in you can't read it anymore? I missed it. But maybe that's a good thing, huh?
Paul will hold them down while I tell them bad jokes with double entendres.
Good post Pete. I know you guys are willing to take the same constructive criticism that you give out. The OP of that thread didn't seem malicious or even that negative, it was just an observation. Some agree with the observation, some don't, it's all perspective. As long as everyone plays nice people can disagree and still get along.
That sounds like a Japanese game show.
Ohhh THAT thread! Wow, I stopped reading it way before it was over. Wow. Wow is all I can say.
As far as giving constructive critiques Pete...I don't like John's harp music. I think he's more of a harpsicord. There. I said it.
