14 yrs old today!!! :bday:
Happy Birthday Riese!!
We got him when he was 4 weeks old and could fit inside my DH high-top tennis shoes! In his prime he weighed 125 lbs and still thought he was a lap dog!! He is the best pet!! When I was pregnant w/ DS, DH was working nights. I let Riese and my female Rottie (Tuffy) outside before bedtime and they were barking up a storm. I ran out there just in time to see Riese jump over the 6 ft fence!! To make a long story short, someone had come into our backyard and Riese chased him away.....could have caught him if he wanted to, just wanted to scare him!
Now days, he doesn't move as fast, and he's down to about 90lbs, but he is still the biggest love I know!!
Happy Birthday Riesers!!

Oh Happy Birthday Riese!!

I so miss my Max! We have had 2 rotties and they were the best dogs! Our first one was a little too over protective and we had to put him down.

But our last one, Max was the sweetest dog you will ever meet. He was sick for a while and died in June - a very sad day for us!

Now we have a wild, hyper chocolate lab and she drives me crazy.

Give me a rottie any day!

I totally agree! We had two females - Ribbon - she was a show dog and someone stole her. :furious: and then we got Tuffy - she was a retired show dog. We had her for 5 years before cancer took her. She was 9. I still miss her! I have pictures of Tuffy and Riese laying on the floor with my DS when he was a baby. They would't hurt a soul!!

We have also had lab mixes and have never had good luck with them....too hyper....if i wanted hyper, i'd have another child!!

(please don't flame me on the lab/hyper remark, beautiful dogs, just a little too much for me)

OMG - my thoughts exactly. Except I was outvoted 5-1 on the issue!

AFter Max died I decided that I did not need a dog again. Max was perfect for us and once he died nothing could replace him so why.

Also, my kids are 15, 13, 11 & 8 - they are all in school all day and I did not need the work of a puppy.

Well, everyone thought it was a great idea to get this chocolate lab - except me! And guess who has to look after all day while everyone is away! She is 9 months old and still chews things to pieces, tears apart the garbage - basically drives me nuts!

I want my nice quiet, lazy rottie back!

i already told dh that we will not get another dog when the time comes. we did the puppy thing, and the kids didn't even play with them. no more!!
oh, the lab we had was a yellow lab....we had her for about 3months when i told dh to find her a home, TODAY!! she ate a tree in the backyard, she tore up ALL of my patio furniture cushions, and the final straw was when she chewed through the central air lines.....TWICE IN TWO DAYS!!! :furious:

i love my lazy rottie - he learned that trait from me!! :teeth:

Happy Birthday wishes to Riese from another rottie family here. :thumbsup2  paw: So true, such very nice dogs/pets. :goodvibes

Happy Birthday Riese! I had a female Rottie named Casey who died two years ago at 11 1/2. I still miss her terribly. She was the best. Now I have a Rottie/Lab/Boxer mix named Jack Jack. He is great, but different. I agree with the other posters, Rotties are the best dogs.

Here's a picture of the birthday boy!! My Dh is a police officer and we let Riese "play cops and robbers"....this was last summer.
