CAUTION! LONG READ AHEAD!
So I posted a thread a while back trying to see if anyone had worn TOMS to the park, and how they worked for them. Through all the mixed reviews I finally decided to bring my red ones and my pair of FILA running shoes so that I could switch half way through the day. I also bought Dr. Scholl's For Her Comfort Insoles to put in my shoes and athletic socks with arch support by Adidas. Also, I have very tender, flat feet.
Day 1 (4:00pm-8:00pm): I wore my TOMS as we walked around Downtown Disney. I could actually feel the insoles working with every step I took. The shoes didn't rub my feet the wrong way, and I was very comfortable. As we were walking back to the car, the rest of my family started noticing their feet were hurting just a little bit from standing longer than we're used to. I was perfectly fine though.
Day 2 (7:00am-2:00pm): Again I wore my TOMS to start out the day. We used our Magic Morning and ran all around Tomorrowland to get our favorites done. We practically power walked to Space Mountain, and if you've ever done that, you know that's a full on leg workout in and of itself. Then we ran over to Astro Blasters, and then walked to the other side of the park to do Haunted Mansion and Pirates. After all that running back and forth, my family needed to slow down and walk a little slower. I, however, was still jumping about ready to go to the next place. No foot pain what-so-ever. So we continued the day, going over to the Mark Twain and getting access to the wheel house, we shopped, and rode various other rides. We decided around 2:00 that we would go back to the hotel and take a short break. At this point, I could definitely feel my feet getting worn out a bit, but not as bad as everyone else.
Day 2 (4:00pm-9:30pm): For the second part of the day I decided to put on my FILA walking shoes with my Dr. Scholl's inserts. Right away I noticed that those shoes hit my feet in a completely different way. Walking around that night my feet hurt so badly. I just assumed that it was from the fast paced morning we had. I could feel the blisters start to form under my toes and on my pinky toe. It was pretty miserable for my feet that night.
Day 3 (7:00am-4:00 pm): In the morning my feet felt much better. So I decided to try starting the day in my walking shoes and switching to my TOMS at the end. We went to Goofy's Kitchen for breakfast, and then walked right into Disneyland and started our day. My feet felt pretty good for the most part, but I could still feel the blisters forming. We didn't go quite as fast this morning, we just sort of wandered throughout the park stopping at things on the way. Closer to lunch I could really feel my feet hurting. And by the time we finished our late lunch and went back to the hotel, I was miserable once again. I had huge blisters on the bottom of my toes, so we stopepd at Target and bought some moleskin pads and bandaids. Those are really amazing at getting the blisters to stop rubbing against the shoe.
Day 3 (6:00pm-10:00 pm): So part 2 of day 3 I put my TOMS and insoles back on. Almost immediately I could tell the difference. As we walked through the park I couldn't even feel the blisters forming and my feet felt so much better. It was so crazy how that shoe change made such a big difference. By the time the fireworks were over and we started heading out, my family felt awful. Their feet hurt really bad. And I still felt great, I probably could have done five more hours!
Day 4 (8:00am-12:00 pm):: For our last day, I decided to wear my TOMS and my moleskin pads for the blisters. Such a good decision! We went straight to Cars Land and got in line for RSR and walked through DCA a bit before heading back to Disneyland to put in a few more games for Astro Blasters. My feet felt so good, like I didn't even have blisters. It was amazing.
So in conclusion, I say that TOMS are definitely worth giving a shot for your shoes. With the combination of the shoes and the insoles I don't think I could have done better. If I had worn them the entire time, I would never have gotten blisters like I did. My walking shoes actually made it worse on me than sandals would have. Give TOMS a try, and see how you like them! Because for me, they couldn't have been any more comfy.
