DH and I returned this past sunday from the wonder. I know I asked a lot of questions about the food before I went so I thought I would give my reviews of the food for what it's worth.

Day 1: Welcome Aboard lunch: We went to parrot cay. I thought the food was pretty good. We had the shrimp and it was a little tough. I also had a salad and some sort of pasta salad. These were also pretty good. Not great!

PALO: We did palo at 7:30. DH had the lamb which was great! I had the filet which was ok. Not as good as I had heard but good. DH also had this bowl of black olives and roasted garlic that he loved. It was an appetizer (not sure of the name). But let me tell you he smelled like garlic for days even after several teeth brushings. The dipping sauces for the bread, we thought were very good. DH liked the more spicy orange sauce and I liked the white garlic sauce the best. The purple sauce was very yucky IMHO. We then had the famous soufle and tiramasu. I didn't care for the tiramasu. I liked the souffle but dh thought it was way overrated. He said it tasted like a brownie with some chocolate sauce to him.

Day2: Breakfast at beach blanket--we really enjoyed the buffet. Everything was good.

Lunch--Tritons: I had the talapia with rice and it was good. I forget what dh had. Anyway, the best part of this meal was the desert. The banana cream pie was delicious!!!! I am usually not a banana pie type of person but i ordered it for some reason and it was great! It was chocolate which I was not expecting.

Dinner--Animators: This was my least favorite restaurant. I got the duck and goat cheese flat bread and it was GROSS! I couldn't eat it. Then I had the butter nut squash soup...didn't care for it either. I had the pan fried veal for dinner. It was good and the only thing I ate that night besides desert which was a sunday. It's hard to mess up a sunday.

Day 3--Room service breakfast. We just had cereal and bagels.

Cookies barbecue lunch--the ribs were great!!! Didn't care for the lobster burger. I enjoyed the chocolate chip cookie dough soft serve ice cream. Also loved the konk coolers on castaway cay.

Parrot cay dinner-i had the hot crab newburg which was very good. I also had the rib eye. It had very good flavor and was tender. DH had the mixed grill and thought it was excellent. I had the cream brulee cheese cake for desert. I was almost too full to eat it but I managed. It was ok.

Overall I thought the food on the ship was good but not great! Maybe I didn't make the best choices when ordering. I guess I"ll just have to book another cruise so I can try all the other stuff.

Were you aware that you could have changed your appetizer or entree if you didn't care for it?

I haven't heard any complaints about the butternut squash soup from any New Englanders yet! Must be a regional thing!

Well, at least you didn't have to cook or wash dishes for three days!!

I had the exact same meal at Lumiere's on the 10/11 Magic! That pie was amazing! I tried to describe it to DH and my parents (my lunch there was a "date" with my DS8) but couldn't do it justice.

And I agree with your DH about the souffle at Palo. It did nothing for me. I much prefered the panna cotta and the pistachio torte.

Thanks for the reviews. I love the fact that you and I had the same lunch at Tritons and the same dinner at Animators. However, I loved them both--just shows that everyone's taste is different.

rea, she doesnt cook or wash dishes anytime...that is why she married me :earseek:

as dw stated, my favorite was the little bowl of cooked garlic and olives that came with the lamb at palo. DW said i smelled like garlic for the rest of the cruise. i guess that didnt stop her from trying to "discover the magic" with me on the hammock at castaway cay. we were the last ones to leave the adult beach and i guess the island sun got to her :teeth:

the soufle at palo was probably my least favorite of all the desserts i had. the creme brulee cheese cake rocked my world. that stuff will make you sho nuff want to slap yo grandmama :teeth:

we had a great time and i really enjoyed meeting the folks from the dis (brown bear) and hanging around with mr and ms golfknut. ill be posting a few more pics in the next few days

"discover the magic"??? In his dreams.....What I was actually trying to do was spray him with binaca to get rid of that garlic. If you want to keep vampires away on the cruise............then that is your dish....

I agree with Rae ~

I'm happy if I don't have to shop, cook or clean up! ::yes::

minnieluvzmickey or hubby ~

LOVE your sig. picture!! Is this a new backdrop on the Wonder??
Didn't think with all our pix, there was a backdrop we missed!
:rotfl:

4nana-this was the backdrop for the welcome aboard picture right when you get on the ship.

Thanx for the reply. OMG ~ What a great improvement over the old Mickey welcome photo we had on Sept 7! Thanx Disney...
LOVE it!!

:jumping1:

On the hammock at CC - you two are a hoot!!!!!! Can just picture that one - or maybe I'd better not!!!!!!

I'm going to "go for the garlic" myself!

Animators menu has always been our least favorite....

Just wanted to agree with the OP that the food was either good or Okay, not great.

Even the much anticipated Chocolate Souffle at Palo, well, I've had better brownies... It was neither chocolatey or sweet... even after both sauces were poured on. Now the cream custard dessert with fresh berries at Palo... THAT was good!

PS: I thought many dishes were bland, should have had that garlic at Palo!!!! That would have lasted DH and I the entire cruise!!! :p

We just ate dinner at Animator's Palate. We didn't like the food either. The lobster wrap was ok, very spicy. Butter Squash soup was watery. DM's salmon was very "fishy" tasting. They made plain grilled shrimp for me, which was EXCELLENT! Everyone liked my special order food more than they liked the food from the menu. The cheescake only came with Mango sauce. I thought that I read here that it came with other flavors too. The Tropical Deck Party was ok. People seemed to be having lots of fun. The desserts were pretty good, just nothing spectacular. Triton's was ok last night. I had the cheese ravioli but it didn't have a whole lot of flavor. Sugar-free chocolate cheesecake was ok. We are going to Palo's tomorrow night, so I will let you know how it is.

The only soup I didn't like was the lobster bisque - one of the ingredients is TOO strong. My Mom who worked as a chef couldn't pick it out either but whatever it is....WHEW!

Since she has cut salt out of her diet completely, many things that came with a glaze/sauce were a bit too "salty" for HER palate. I use moderate salt and thought the same dishes were fine.

One of her favorites was the stuffed tomato. You'd think after 8 cruises, we'd have the menu's memorized!

Okay, too much food talk - better get some breakfast now!

Enjoy Palo -

Rae

well i'm glad i'm not the only one that just thought the food was good and not superb. I was beginning to think maybe something was wrong with my taste buds. Don't get me wrong I had a fabulous time and can't wait to go back for more olives and garlic.........lol and any food on a disney cruise is better than eating at home.

manchurian--when you go to the adult beach without your kids be sure to bring a blanket. Those hamoc rope burns will kill ya:smooth:
