Because I was looking for this info before but couldn't find it, I figured I'd post it here for anyone who might be looking for it sometime in the future. Here's the full timeline of my DVC Purchase:

My Sister and Brother-In-Law purchased DVC back in 2004, my initial reaction was "good for them, definitely not for me". Many, many, many, many hours of research, reading, etc and after 2 trips to Disney, my wife and I decided DVC was right for us. The saving began as did the anticipation and wait for the Contemporary DVC (BLT). As the rumors of price and point charts sky-rocketed, and while the resale market started to slide, we decided to go with a resale at SSR.
  • August 20 - Our offer was submitted and accepted late in the day
  • August 21 - Recieved docs from The Timeshare Store (TTS)
  • August 22 - Fed-Ex'd our docs and 10% deposit to TTS
  • August 26 - Package submitted to Disney for ROFR
  • September 6 - Passed ROFR
  • September 15 - Closing docs were supposed to be sent via email but accidentally were not
  • October 3 - I called TTS looking for update on closing docs, recieved docs via email same day with explanation
  • October 4 - I sent our signed closing docs and check to TTS
  • October 8 - I recieved confirmation that we closed
  • October 18 - I called Member Services and am now in the system
  • October 28 - We recieved our Membership Cards in the mail
We were told initially that we'd close by Oct 16th which we beat by a week even with the delay in closing docs. I don't think that the mistake by the closing services cost us any time because the sellers didn't process their paperwork until after I got my docs back to TTS anyway. Even with the delay, I couldn't be much happier with TTS. I will definitely use TTS again if the opportunity arises.

Now I only have to endure another 7-10 days of waiting for Member Services to have us and our points in the system.... that is about how long that takes? Right? I guess I'll edit this post with that info when the time comes!

If the sellers of our 240 point SSR contract (Aug UY) happen to read this, thank you for being a part of such a smooth transaction. I hope your decision to sell was not due to a negative situation. If it was, I hope you and your family find better times quickly.

Thanks for the time line Chris! I just sent in my closing docs on a 50 point BWV contract. I can only hope my closing goes as smoothly as yours did! Congratulations!

Thanks for this timeline, very useful info for prospective buyers like me!

Can I just asked one question- Did you need to use a fax machine at any point or were all the documents just sent by mail? Its just I dont have one or even know someone else that does

I recently sold a small contract and was able to do most of the documents by scanning and email. The original notarized documents needed to be sent by regular mail or express. Hope this helps. I'm sure TSS could come up with a method that works for your situation.

Fortunately, on the buying side anyway, you can simply print and fedex or scan/email them back. I ended up Fed-Ex'ing everything, I'm not sure but I think that original copies are required for some of the docs. TTS did email me scanned copies of the sellers docs for my records, so I'm sure if you can scan and email, some of the docs could be handled via email. ALL of the docs that I had to sign and return came to me via email as .pdf attachments.

Hope that helps!

As long as you have a scanner you can just scan your signed documents then send them as an e-mail attachment. It worked just fine for me!

7-10 days it typical to get in the system and get points but with the BLT and change in AKV program it is likely that the DVC direct sales rush may slow that down a little.
