Just received a letter telling me that my branch of Regions bank will be closing in April. Ughhhhhhhh!! I have used them for almost 20 years. Now I'll have to go elsewhere.

They stated I could simply use the branch that is 30 minutes from my house. I only make around 3-4 deposits a month, but no way I'm going to drive 30 minutes to make a deposit.

Do they have mobile deposit where you just take a picture on your phone to deposit? I like a bank physical branch also, but my kids are more up on the latest banking technology. Only problem DS has had is once he needed a signature guarantee and couldn't get one where he lives; had to wait until he came home to do it.

Yes, but they charge for it.

Most banks don't charge for their mobile apps ...deposits etc.
easy peasy
Direct deposit also was agame changer.

I love USAA. I've used them for years and never had an issue. I had to deposit a very large check once and just went in and did it at FedEx.

I see no reason not to use an online bank. I use United Bank of Missouri. When I type in the bank routing code it comes up as UBM Warsaw. I have never been there. There is no reason to pay fees to a bank. Just switch banks.

I feel your pain, I had to switch banks a couple of years ago and it was a process. I didn't realize how many automatic withdrawals I had, most were regular but some like my tollpass account I use so infrequently I forgot about until I got an email that it had a negative balance.

I'd be looking for a new bank if they wanted me to pay for mobile banking. I probably go into a real bank about once a year....

We use 5/3 and almost everything we do is done via their website or app.

We use Navy Federal Credit Union and love it. Everything can be done online and I can make deposits at my local credit union (NOT Navy Federal) branch ATM for no fees.

I agree- my bank doesn't charge me for mobile banking, checking, ATM withdrawals, Debit card use- I have zero bank fees (and I do NOT have a large amount of money in there)- The last time I stepped foot inside a bank was when my debit card was compromised (the put the money back in my account right away) and I went in to get a new card-there is no other reason to ever have to go to the bank- I love Chase bank, never had a problem with them

I also love USAA and use it as my primary bank, but the membership is restricted to service members and their families. I have it through my grandfather. The first thing I did once DH got his green card was to open a USAA account for him. And once we have a child, I plan to open a savings account at USAA for them. My checking, home mortgage and car loan are all through USAA. There service is wonderful.

my local credit union had only 3-4 branches, now down to one near (sort of) me- I started the switch last month, it will be final after my mortgage payment this month- went to Bank of America b/c I could get free checking etc with a few perks added ..... and there's a boa on every corner-

The closest branch of the credit union that I use for 97% of my banking is 150 miles away. (I moved after I joined, and just kept banking with them because their rates are really good). I just do it everything online, via their app or occasionally over the phone. But they don't charge for things like mobile deposit - if they did, I'd be out of there.

Every now and then I do need to be able to walk into a bank for service. For example, last week I needed a Medallion Signature Guarantee and that is something that just has to be done face-to-face with a banker. Because of that, I also have a checking account at Chase. There's always a Chase branch nearby.

My whole family uses NFCU and we love it!

There are many places to withdraw money for no fee, such as any 7 eleven store.

When I signed my youngest up for a checking account - she already had a savings account, they gave her an account where she got her money back when she made withdrawals at other bank's ATM's up to $10 a month. It is a campus checking account for ages 14-24 and there are no monthly fees.

We use the APP for scanning deposits into our accounts.

I'm close to several branches in my area so it is super convenient for me but the only time I usually go to the branch is to use the free coin counter machine.

I feel your pain. We have had our business and personal accounts with Suntrust for over 25 yrs but are finally looking to xhange. They closed the one near our house, now a 15 min drive. We have 1 2 minutes from our business and have the safety deposit box there as well, so that has kept me handing on. The service is SO NOT the same anymore. Both on site as well as via phone-overseas call centers for personal accts.
Everone has different opinions around here about who is good. I need 1 for bus and personal. Convienant locations for both home and the office. Any sites that have reviews from oeople, like a tripadvisor but fir banks?

Mobile banking is different though than depositing check via your mobile device.

I have Commerce Bank and they charge a fee (though it says it may and to refer to the app) for depositing a check using your phone yet mobile banking doesn't cost a dime..I transfer monies between accounts almost exclusively through my mobile banking app. When I actually have a check (which is rare) I just go to the ATM to deposit it with no fees. It helps that Commerce Bank is large around me so there are plenty of ATM locations and bank branches if I needed to stop in.

U.S. Bank charges up to $0.50 per check deposited via mobile device

Capitol Federal Bank charges up to $0.75 per check deposited via mobile device

I know there are others out there.

I feel for you OP.
