I have always enjoyed reading other travlers trip reports, so I thought I would give this a try. Here's an introduction to the planning of this trip.

Paul’s birthday bash was the shortest trip I have ever taken to Disney World, but I must say, it was one of the best trips ever. Paul and I have been dating for a while and his birthday was looming on the horizon when I suggested that I give him and his granddaughter a trip to the World. You see, on our first date, Paul asked me what I liked to do in my spare time; did I like to travel? Well, as I stared at my steak (I’m not the kind of girl to order a salad) I thought I could either explain to him that I had been to Disney at least once a year since it opened or I could just simply nod and indicate that yes, I liked to travel, especially to Florida. But I thought if anything was going to come of this relationship, he might as well know that my heart (and according to my Dad, my money) belong to Disney.

As I sat there bracing myself for his reaction, expecting one of either shear disbelief or one of ok, so she’s somewhat obsessive about vacation locations, I discovered I had found my own possible Prince Charming. Without blinking an eye, without missing a step, he simply stated that he always wanted to take his granddaughter to Disney World. Oh, the seed was planted in the back of my head I could be planning a trip to Disney soon.

Knowing his birthday was quickly approaching, I bravely asked him if he would consider a gift of a trip to Florida for the three of us. At first, he baulked at the idea, but after a phone call to Alyssa’s parents and some gentle nudging for me, ok, so I flat out cried, he gave in. And we selected May 23rd through May 26th as the ultimate birthday party celebration.

I called the Walt Disney Travel Company and booked a package through them consisting of airfare from Houston, lodging at the Polynesian Resort and park hopper tickets for 2 days. We wanted to keep the trip short because Alyssa, who is 5, had not really traveled before. Everything was set; I spoke with Tara from the Concierge staff to order a plush toy of Baloo to be waiting for Alyssa in our room and ordered chocolate covered strawberries for Paul’s birthday treat. Then we waited, and waited, and waited for May 23rd to arrive.

To make the days go faster, I introduced Paul to the wonderful world of inter net sites for Disney. He immediately signed up for newsletters from several different sites and he would call me at work to discuss the latest topics. Oh my gosh, I love this man, I have molded him into a big old Disney freak and we haven’t even left Houston yet!!!!! I thought fate brought us together, our meeting is a story of it’s own, but now I know it was Tinker Bell’s doing.

There was finally a light at the end of the tunnel and the 23rd arrived.

This looks like it will be an incredible report! You two sound so sweet :love2:
And I am sure Paul's granddaughter will love it!

Can't wait to hear more!!

I really enjoyed this first installment and can't wait to find out what happens when you all finally arrive at Disney World.

That was so thoughtful of you to set something up for his granddaughter. It will make the trip special and I'm sure it will make her more comfortable being on the trip.

Lovely start  can't wait for more!!
