I think this is just going around in circles.
Just agree to disagree.
I agree
Sorry if I am replying after your final words, but I just wanted to share some thoughts
I have never done the CP or PI or worked for tWDC, but I am someone looking to do so in the near future.
To all those expressing their honest opinions, thank you. Though I am sure some of the points could be expressed differently, I do understand why you are so upset with the hiring processes...and though it is not something that I want to agree with or something I want to be true, it is something that I have to accept. I don't understand their hiring processes, nor do I think I ever will, but that is ok with me.
What I do (as well as the other people who you are warning) have to understand is that I can't expect the world to revolve around me and expect my plans to come true exactly the way I imagined or planned.
Thank you for sharing your insight...now when I make my decision to apply for CPs or PIs, I will be much more aware of the possible outcomes and I will make a decision knowing that. That way, if I do the CP, work my kiester off networking, prove my worth and passion to my managers, and still end up not getting a PI, I will not be as surprised....disappointed, yes....but at least I know going into that that I might do everything right and things might not work out.
At least I didn't go into it expected to be given the opportunities (which, although I feel SHOULD go to CP people, I do believe the hiring managers have reasons for the decisions they make that we don't understand)
So in fear that I might be rambling, that is all that I will say. I just hope that if this is a problem as significant as the original claims, that Disney will realize it and either change it, or at least change their marketing for the CP so people go in knowing that there are other ways to get into the company, but that the CP is a great way to meet people, to have a blast working for a company they love, and that the long hours really are worth it....as many people here have mentioned.
Hopefully everyone who has always dreamed of working for Disney get that opportunity, as I know I am willing to work my way up, so I will hope for the best and work hard and whatever happens happens. Que sera sera.
