My position on Professional Internships

I don't think I'm not being tactful. I've made it very clear that I thoroughly enjoyed my experience...I haven't complained about my managers or any particular person I came across during my CP. I didn't even really mention anything about my job or complain about that.

I'm certainly not trying to attack anyone. And I also don't believe Disney is "throwing people under a bus" for kicks and giggles, I really hope you aren't interpreting my posts as me trying to say that.

My only point in posting here was to add evidence to my opinion that crimsontide is not just making things up cause he's ticked he didn't get a PI.

No no, I think you are very tactful! :flower3: It wasn't directed at you....it was in general. I wanted to avoid finger pointing, but it came out as being too vague. So basically the post was referring to crimsontide's method of expressing his "opinion". Sorry, cats out of the bag :P

And can we get a consensus on whether you're a he or a she? Very confusing. lol

But in all seriousness, I give your posts more credit because you are polite in expressing your opinion. I think it takes a way a level of credability when someone goes on the attack, if you know what I mean.

Friend of crimsontide, flbuckeye? Seems mighty interesting that your only other post on here was 4/19/08...just says "edited" and is followed 2 minutes later by a post from crimsontide. Do you two share a computer and log on at the same time?

Plus, you both have names that have to do with school nicknames. Interesting, to say the least.

ok.. you can go into my last post but Im not here to sit and talk to people on the college board.. and that post was worthless to me... But you are here because you think you were hired at Disney because you know how to read a book.. :rotfl: a book wont make your front line like you FYI! there are different sections I care more to read on disboards than watching people go on CPs and PIs.. Been there done that.. and you dont have to post to prove you read these boards... they are exactly that BOARDS! If I have something to say Ill say it but Im not here to please a mickeyfan who thinks Disney is perfect!

PLUS there are tons of people whos screen names have to do with schools.. If you would get your nose out of the air you would see that a buckeye is from OHIO and crimson tide is from Alabama.... if you didnt know that is 2 different states!!!! Plus I have my own computer! or I can come out and say that you and CelebrationNM are on the same computer because your posted are 3 minutes apart but then that would be SPECULATION! And Im not that low! YES 2 people can be on at the same time! FYI

CelebrationNM, I should give more credit to SOME of the managers out of 6 resorts I have been depolyed to on my CP. But most of them didnt know how to even work DPMS nor would they ever come out of the office you learn you will get more magic done by going to an FSA that make 7.00 and hour then a manager that is salaried!

If that's the case, that is disappointing. There's no excuse for a manager not to have technical competency or know how to do do the job of their direct reports. In the end, they make their own lives more difficult too...

Crimsontide is a name of my favorite movie, and I dont have the slightest clue what a flbuckeye is. Moving on

I respond to posts that point out fact and not peoples speculation, however any reply to said post is met with some stupid 1 sentance comment. Stop responding with stupid comments and then there can be intelligent discussion.

I asked about qualifications because there are a ton of disgruntled CPs down here that dont understand what they did wrong and why people with no experience are taken over there. Im not here to judge anyones qualifications, just mearly want to benchmark them. Believe it or not, there are a ton of people that wonder why they werent even called and since Disney wont tell them, they ask others.

CPs realize after they are down here that they only real way to move up in the company is with a PI, and yet time and time again, their managers are PIs that havent worked a day in their life. This causes people to become disgruntled.

Dont care wether you like the way it comes across or not. I speak from experience and not a dream vision.

I think this is just going around in circles.

Just agree to disagree.

I agree

Sorry if I am replying after your final words, but I just wanted to share some thoughts

I have never done the CP or PI or worked for tWDC, but I am someone looking to do so in the near future.

To all those expressing their honest opinions, thank you. Though I am sure some of the points could be expressed differently, I do understand why you are so upset with the hiring processes...and though it is not something that I want to agree with or something I want to be true, it is something that I have to accept. I don't understand their hiring processes, nor do I think I ever will, but that is ok with me.

What I do (as well as the other people who you are warning) have to understand is that I can't expect the world to revolve around me and expect my plans to come true exactly the way I imagined or planned.

Thank you for sharing your insight...now when I make my decision to apply for CPs or PIs, I will be much more aware of the possible outcomes and I will make a decision knowing that. That way, if I do the CP, work my kiester off networking, prove my worth and passion to my managers, and still end up not getting a PI, I will not be as surprised....disappointed, yes....but at least I know going into that that I might do everything right and things might not work out.

At least I didn't go into it expected to be given the opportunities (which, although I feel SHOULD go to CP people, I do believe the hiring managers have reasons for the decisions they make that we don't understand)

So in fear that I might be rambling, that is all that I will say. I just hope that if this is a problem as significant as the original claims, that Disney will realize it and either change it, or at least change their marketing for the CP so people go in knowing that there are other ways to get into the company, but that the CP is a great way to meet people, to have a blast working for a company they love, and that the long hours really are worth it....as many people here have mentioned.

Hopefully everyone who has always dreamed of working for Disney get that opportunity, as I know I am willing to work my way up, so I will hope for the best and work hard and whatever happens happens. Que sera sera.
