My poor cousin...

My little cousin is 11 yo...last night before he went to be, he told his dad he had a belly ache and didn't feel well...he didn't have a fever or any other symptoms, so they put him to bed early and checked on him through the night. When they tried to wake him this morning to check his temp he was not responsive. My aunt, his grandmother took his fever and it was 104 degrees. They immediatley rushed him to the er...his "bellyache" was a ruptured appendix! He has toxic poisoning and is in critical condition. The crazy thing is this happened to me and my sister as well! Both our appendix were rupturing and other than the pain the typical symptoms of fever and high white blood count were not present. Poor Kid. I remember hoe awful that was. If you could, send some prayers and PD on up to Maine! Thanks!

DD just went through it and it was very scary! Since it is ruptured, he will have to be in the hospital for at least 7 days and then must be able to keep food down to bebale to leave. We got to go after 7 days, but met many kids there for two or three weeks. This will be a long process and painful if DD tells it correctly! I am taking her ice skating for the first time today since the surgery. Keep the faith, and PM me if you have any questions or concerns. The docs were not forthcoming with us, so we spent alot of the time wondering if she would get better and how long it would take.


I was expecting her to bounce back a couple of days after surgery, and she felt REALLY bad just about the entire 7 days, so expect that. She is otherwise healthy, but her bowels would not cooperate, and start working again very fast. That is what made us wonder just what was going on and we asked for a rough timeline and no one would give us a general one. The did not want to "make promises".
