As I've said before, my dad's new wife is very demanding. As well as making him cut ME out of his life, she also made him cut out anything that is anything to do with my mum, including old friends, family and even his neices and nephews.
My cousin asked recently 'why doesn't Uncle love us anymore'? Because he ignores them in the street despite being a big part of their lives before (and even after) my parents divorce.
My poor aunt (mum's sister) now has it even worse. HER close friends have become good friends with my step-mother, and she is feeding them terrible lies about my aunt and my family. When my aunt tries to explain how he is a compulsive liar and has done terrbile things, her friends tell her 'don't be silly, they're wonderful people, it's obviously you that's lying'.
They have even seen my dad ignore my cousins waving at him in the street and argued 'well he probably just didn't see them'.
How can people be so easily manipulated and naive????
I feel sad for my aunt, her friends won't leave her alone about it and keep trying to 'sell' my dad and step-mum to her, invited them round when my aunt is there etc. She's now faces losing her friends over this.
ETA: These people are not wrong, my dad does come across as a 'nice' guy. Unless you are on the inside of what is really going on, you wouldn't want to believe he is capable of it.
