me, DH, DD#1 (10), DD#2 (7), DS(4)--last trip 12/01
my parents--mom (70) dad (72)--last trip 1988

On day 4 we head to AK as soon as it opens, getting dad's scooter on the bus for the first time. We head back to the safari (dad HAS read my books on this park and they have done lots of zoos, so he is into this). In the queue it starts POURING rain and continues throughout the safari. Trust me, I threw out most of my photos because you can't see a darn thing. And a rhino walked right next to the tram--dad and DH could have touched him. We really enjoyed it. Then we looked on the trail at the animals.
We slogged (in ponchos--mom and dad had red ones and it was very easy to spot them) to TTBAB--when the bugs left mom was really surprised, I loved it!! Then it was raining again so we headed to the AP lounge--what a nice perk on a nasty day! We hung out in there for a while with a few other families--DH got the high score on the pinball machine and I got a pass for the AP parade viewing area. We headed over to our Rainforest Cafe lunch early. We had an AP discount. This was a really good lunch! The atmosphere is cool too, but I don't know if it's worth the $$$. After this the sun was shining! We headed over to LK and got good seats again thanks to DAd's scooter. I had insisted on LK because it's my favorite thing at AK. The girls got to dance around at the end again. It is so cool, I can't say enough about this. After that we headed to Dinoland. DH and the girls did Primeval Whirl while DS and I did the other dinosaur ride. At that point we headed to our parade viewing area. It was a good area, plus there was one of those stands that sells inflatable balls there-there was a display box with cool air blowing up to show how they work, and mom sat there and got her second wind!!! I really liked this parade too! We had never stayed at AK past 2 before but the parade was our big draw. At that point we headed back to Dinoland. My family (not parents) did Dinosaur (another one DS did for the first time!) and then I did Primeval Whirl with the girls--why is this for 48" and up? It's harmless. We had promised the kids the Boneyard for 2 years and it has always rained, so we let them go in for about 40 minutes while I sat and yakked with my mom and dad. We left about 5:30. That evening we all went swimming--Dad went down the water slide like a fool and paid for it later (OUCH, not with a bad back you nitwit) but he'll do about anything for my kids. My son just loves this slide and went down over and over again. After that we ate in the room (dad had ribs left over from lunch) and DH took DD#1 back to MGM for some one-on-one time and to buy our family photo from MOnday--they rode ToT and their picture didn't come out, so they walked them down a back way to ride it again by themselves! By the time he got back at 10 I was asleep! He nagged me a little about it but took the kids down to the arcade--my mom was asleep too!
Thursday was our separate day. My family went to TL. We really enjoyed it! We did the wave pool, Humunga Cowabunga (not DS), storm slides, the lazy river (twice) and the family raft ride. We spent hours in the wave pool. When we left at 2:30 DH looked at the 5 or so photos. He liked one of DD#2 and one of all of us--the kid gave him those two armbands and threw out the other 3. Well, he made a mistake--we bought the one of DD#2 but the other one he saved was a bad one of DS (he has a lazy eye and it was about all the way in, yuk!). This poor CM went through every family photo for about a 2 hour time period but it was lost. To compensate, without being asked, he gave us 2 5x7s and 4 wallets of DD#2 for the price of one 5x7.
Mom and Dad, meanwhile, went to Epcot and shopped at GErmany. Mom found a reproduction of a Hummel she has wanted for 30 years--she had given one to my grandmother and my uncle had broken it. Dad bought it for their anniv. coming up--48 years, $200!! They shipped it home. They bought some other gifts. They also headed to Downtown Disney and hit the candy and toy shops. They thought the toy shop (which closed for good that day) was World of Disney! They got a tub of soldiers for DS, and it was open, so they were worried they might be missing some, so the CM counted them out--76, one extra even! They bought candy for my kids--hey, I reminded mom, I have two nieces that aren't here, remember?? Dad also bought himself some fudge at the candy shop.
That evening we ate at Flying Fish for my BDAy coming up--it was awesome and expensive, thanks mom and dad, we never would have ponied up that much $$$ for ourselves!! It was their thanks for having us in our room. Then we took them to Epcot--for 2 years I have tried to explain to dad why I really don't care about our local hometown July 4 fireworks anymore, since it's been after our trips. Now he understands! He was blown away.
We turned Dad's scooter in at bell services and did laundry so tomorrow we could switch resorts and Mom and dad were leaving.

Great reports! I have two sons with lazy eye also!I also have a 4 yr old son who is due for a check up and it is likely he may have it too. I am looking forward to reading all the other days left! What did you find yucky about the sci-fi? We have never been and I dont' read too many good reviews about the food!

Great Report first of all. Second thing are those AP lounges only good for Premium AP passholders or regular AP holders too?

I'm just a regular AP holder.
Dutton, we ate at Sci-Fi last year and the food wasn't that bad, but DH and I got burgers this time and they were really dried out hockeypucks. Yes, the atmosphere is cool, but stick to desserts. The shakes are really good.
If you want a burger hop on the boat at MGM and go to the boardwalk and go to ESPN. Or better yet, go to Prime Time for lunch instead and have the yummy fried chicken with a s'more.
