DH, me, DD#1 (10), DD#2 (7), DS (4)--last trip was 12/01
Woke up on our last Poly day. Got some food and packed everything up. Packed swimsuits in a bag in the stroller since it was gorgeous today!!! The rest of the family was eating in the lounge and I went up there. I spoke to DH and must have set him off because he got in a "mood" and really cranky--seems he was reading a very good article in some relative peace and quiet and I shattered it. OH well! So after we get bell services to pick up our stuff, I take the kids to the pool--DH decides to shop at GF! After an hour or so in the pool (DH says he'll be back at noon) DD#2 and I get out and change. DD#2 has been fighting something all week, stuffiness, a little coughing. Now she falls asleep at the table! She feels warm. I get a pina colada and get DD#1 and DS out of the pool. DH gets back and changes DS. We put DD#2 in the stroller and go to the monorail--take it to MK, then take the boat to WL. DD#2 stays asleep the whole time, although I had awakened her before we left POly for some tylenol.
We get to WL--WOW!!! We had walked around last year after we did our addon, but the atmosphere just blows DH away--he is again thankful we did DVC (esp. after noting that for the $$ we paid, the Poly concierge LV room left a lot to be desired, although the view was great). Check in was a breeze and wonder of wonders, our room was READY!! We get there--furthest from the elevators on the 5th floor- and boy is it cool! We just stay and chill for a while--bell services had brought our bags from the Poly, but put them on the wrong "log" and they went back to the Poly, so they had to drive over separately and get them!!!. Eventually we leave for MK. We "do" adventureland--Genie rode the Aladdin ride two cycles ahead of us, and DD#1 was very jealous!! We also did Jungle Cruise and Pirates. WE checked the line at Splash but it was long, so we left MK for another year. We decided to do MGM on a whim. A family leaving handed us a Fantasmic meal package pass, so we didn't have to be at OScar's until 8:30! DH took DD#2 on R&R for some one-on-one time--wait was only 20 minutes! Then while DD#1 and I went on (baby swap, DS is too short) he took DS and DD#2 on ToT. We headed to Oscar's, got great seats for Fantasmic, 2nd row! But only one of Mickey's hands shot fireworks off (hope the other one wasn't burning!) and then the fans of water weren't showing any cartoon images--so they cancelled it after about 10 minutes. People were huffy, and the crowds going to the busses were staggering, one guy behind me compared it to the fatal Who concert in 1979 which I though was a bit much!! We got a bus to WL and really, REALLY enjoyed the quiet pool--the humidity was back!!
The next morning we took it easy, ate cereal in the room. Then we did the water mouse thing we had never done. ONly $30 for an hour! DH took DS for 20 min, then DD#2 for 20 min.--then I finished up with DD#1 for 20 min. and got in just under the wire! What fun! I took DD#1 over to check out the Poly from the water and MK--got some good pics--if I'd had more time would have taken some of GF. After that we headed to MGM. We did Millionaire twice--I ended up in 3rd again. Starting to get a little frustrated. Got picture and autograph of kids with Lilo and Stitch. Took the boat to YC/BC to check out the BC villas--nice, but pretty comparable to BWV and right now we like VWL a lot better! Walked to Epcot. Did TT---YES! DS is tall enough and he really, really likes it! Get a beavertail. Look at the pin shop. Check out the fountains--DDs have to go in Ice STation Cool. Go on Spaceship Earth (this is 2 days before Epcot was shut down!). Then we took the monorail to MK--I got off to shop, DH took the kids back to VWL. I bought a couple of shirts and some knick knacks at MK (had always wanted that "Been there done that going back" license plate holder!!) Then I went to the Contemporary to check for a Flying Fish pin--DD swore she had seen one there, but I never found one. Ran to catch the launch to WL--that was a quick trip! Convinced Dh and the kids to eat NOW (at 9PM) and swim later--we had our suits under our clothes. Finally got to try Whispering Canyon--a lot of fun and a killer margarita. Swam in the big pool--had a weird incident where a girl told my DDs she give them $25 bucks to do something but wouldn't say what--I find out, grab them, gET DH, and the girl is lost in the VERY crowded pool--nothing I can do now, but I have reported it and had a call from WDW about it as well. I knew I liked the quiet pool better.
Tuesday we get all our stuff together and check out--head to MGM again--DH is sure I'll make WWTBAM. The first game I am 2nd when they call a guy up--when the game ends and he is still in the chair I am first!! &#($&^ So we go on to the next game (after a Mickey bar for strength
) and he blows it on a fashion question at 64,000--I am in first and get in the hot seat! I blow it at 4,000--which of these is a long, enclosed living area, a crib or a hutch--I think a crib is something a baby sleeps in and am thinking of rabbit hutch, but it IS crib--so I have another few pins to trade (I only keep the 1,000 ones) and a hat for DD#2--I was in the hot seat last year and didn't get the shirt that time either. We leave MGM and go back to WL to swim--VERY HOT pavement at that pool, you need swim shoes--I had our suits in the stroller. We swim until 3:00 in the big pool, another 1/2 hour in the quiet pool (which IS quiet and very underrated), then get out, change, and eat at Roaring Forks--Rabbit picks us up at 4:30 and we are all ready to go.
