Thanks to the Disers who pointed out the hidden Mickey on his nose...as soon as he arrived on my doorstep from the Mid-Florida Retriever Rescue....I knew that he had to be a Mickey!!!
This is his pick at the adoption day at Petco in the Millenia shopping center near the Mall of Millenia in Orlando.
So how long does the honeymoon last? This puppy is sooo well mannered...we've been practicing with the leash and a little bit of lead training--a variation of sorts as the leash we have really needs a couple more inches on it. We've tried him off leash in the house a bit and he's already following me around the house. He has his leash on right now and after some play time and potty time he is chilling out on his "bed". He will be sleeping in the crate--but I'm letting him use the dog bed in the evenings before a final walk/potty break before bed.
I know the "terrible 2's" phase will come in a few weeks...but how much of their puppy mannerism (the good ones
) translates into adulthood?
I bought the Raising puppies for Dummies book and have already implemented some useful tips that are helping immensely. My biggest faux pas thus far is forgetting to not use my hands for correcting...we now let him wear the leash so that I can do the leash tug and it is working very well.
We committed to this puppy a week ago, so we've had a whole week of prep and anticipation and we are thoroughly excited
