My new iPhone 3G thread

The camera is amazing, better than any other phone I've seen - I can't wait to go snap happy in Disney with it!

It's a lot better than the one on my old phone. I was surprised it didn't have any zoom at all, but I can live w/ it.

I took this picture of Iceland from the plane coming home last Friday -

no zoom, no flash, no video, all in all it's a pretty poor phone camera by today's standards! However the rest of the package more than makes up for it :)

Do you remember the name of the app, I'd like to check it out. I've seen a couple for diabetics but I think I missed this one.

Thanks

The app is Restaurant Nutrition. It is free and is currently #69 in top free apps.

<snip> I'll try syncing the earpiece again, who knows? I'm wondering if the one I already had for my Razr is just not compatible. In that case, I will buy a new one. It's stuck in "searching....Now Discoverable" mode. I wouldn't think it would take more than a minute to "find" it.

My old phone was also a Razr. I have the Motorola H700 earpiece and it does work just fine. I'd suggest looking on-line for a manual for whatever earpiece you have to be sure you're putting it in the pairing mode correctly.

I'm also a girlie iPhone user! Mine has a neon pink case! I have all my WDW/DL/CA parkmaps downloaded to it already, as well as the DIS on my first page! It is kind of a pain in the butt having to redo all your contacts and favorites though. Where did you get your park maps for the iphone?:)

park maps seem to only be available as I web app thru apples site linking you to wdwpinpoint, so you need to be connected to an Internet source :)

I'm thinking you're a genius.

It turned out that I was pairing it completely wrong. I Googled the make of the bluetooth earpiece and figured out what I was doing wrong.

I'm paired and good to go!

And to Luke, who asked why I didn't transfer from the SIM card:

There is no SIM slot (that I know of) on the iPhone. They didn't have to take apart the Razr, take out the SIM, put it into the iPhone. They were able to set up the iPhone via the USB connection to the phone, and suddenly I had service switch from my Razr to the iPhone.

So in order to bring my contacts list from my old phone to the new one, I had to key in all the data from scratch. It's a pain, but I'm glad it's there now. I have a heckuva hard time hitting the right alpha/numeric keys at times. The backspace button is my friend. :headache:

the sim slot is at the top, they call it a 'sim tray', look between the power/sleep mode button and the headphone jack :) how else would anyone but a sim card in? ;) I know Apple are a closed shop but that'd be too much even for them ;)

Glad you're all sorted now tho, sit back and basque in it's brilliance :)

No sim slot in my iPhone either. I have the old one, not the 3G. That could be the difference I guess.

there will be a sim slot, look where i described, there'll be a little pin hole that you put a paper clip or Apples special tool, which looks like a paper clip, to open it :)

:goodvibes

hmmmmm, that always looked like a reset hole to me. I see what you are talking about though. I didn't know it opened.

I always had Palm Pilots before so I am used to those little reset holes.

yep that's the place, pop a paper clip in it and watch a little tray pop out :)

My apologies for resurrecting this thread, but wouldn't it be need if there were an DIS/iPhone avatar that we could use here? Something like an iPhone with the DIS logo on the screen?

Hey - I'm not gonna complain seeing this thread again!!

What would be neater, IMHO after over 3 weeks of use, would be for the iPhone to incorporate "copy/cut and paste" functionality. It would make posting on the DIS boards much easier.

I mean, it *IS* the #1 reason to have an iPhone, right?!?;)

someone told me about an iphone app which could measure the G force you are experiencing?

might be fun for roller coasters and MS. anyone heard of it? I am such a geek!

Hey DoBug. I have the app you are talking about. Dynolicious. It does have a skidpad function to measure G's. There's another one too, i forget the name. I don't know how well they would work on a coaster.... but they are cool for playing with in the car.

I just wish they would get their act together and fix the 3G issues. that's such a pain. I'm always using the Edge. Plus today the entire northeast AT&T data network was down! you can't believe how that sucked.

Hi Lorax, (is that from the Dr Seuss book?)

thanks for the info. I will take a look at Dynolicious. I am having some fun with silly little apps.

sorry you are having trouble with the networks, etc. Maybe being in the Midwest does have some good points after all

I am loving this phone overall but it does have its buggy moments.

hi DoBug. Yes that was my favorite Suess story!

Dynolicious is a fun little app. It's $12 tho! I still haven't really utilized it. I need to!

Yeah the service here has been shady. But apparently they are moving their headquaters to TX from NJ. Just would be nice to get a text saying the network is down and I start troubleshooting my phone!

"still love the phone despite the bugs. But now I remember why I'm not a huge apple fan. When you release a new update and it's FAQ only states that it's for 'bug fixes' that's a little ridiculous. I'd prefer acknowledgement that there are issues and not try to cover them up!

OK.... is there any way to post pictures from Photobucket on the DIS with the iPhone?

I've had mine for a month and only recently discovered you can't copy and paste on it (duh....) which means I can't put photo code into my posts on the DIS from my iPhone. :sad1:

Apparently there's a workaround for posting pix that are on the phone itself using a blog, but that still won't get them on the DIS, just some external blog...
