My nephew told his best friend...

a dark purple is not a bad color and How many guys went to the prom with a nice pink shirt with their tux.

Probably after winter break in a few weeks......they all will forget it

Awww, poor little guy!!! I think your idea is great though!! :rotfl:

Don't worry, I bet he'll grow up to be the coolest kid in class. He's really already an individual! :teeth:

I already thought he would have all the girls in class (he does have a long term girlfriend--the whole way back from Kindergarten!! :rotfl:)

Lots of boys are into pink this year - I'm surprised that he is getting teased about it. Pink is a hot color with the skateboarder boys - my DS 11 wants a pink skateboard for Xmas :teeth: Maybe use some of the skateboarder boys as examples showing that pink is cool :cool1:

Is there any older girls or boys that can tell the others to cut the crap? Fifth and sixth graders shouldn't be riding a first grader.

We had t-shirts printed this year to sell at a summer camp. We had chocolate brown with tan writing and light pink with dark pink writing. We bought twice as many brown, assuming guys and girls both would want it and figured only girls would want the pink. We also bought the pink in smaller sizes since most of the girls are smaller than the guys. Of course we sold out of the pink very quickly since we were selling them to guys at twice the rate we were to the girls. We didn't make that mistake again when we reordered, lol.

Sorry to here your nephew is going through this. I've actually seen t-shirts (pink one) that say something like "only real men wear pink" or "it takes a real man to wear pink" My 5th grader even came home saying that the other week. Maybe you could hunt down one of those shirts.

Pink for boys is HUGELY popular here. We gave out some fuzzy dice as one of the prizes for our magazine drive and all the boys took the pink ones. He can also tell all the kids that are picking on him that they can tell the Minnesota Vikings that purple is a sissy color and see what THEY do to them.

pink is popular for guys in NJ too. There are some guys that can pull it off and others who cant. But thats for teenagers..not for a 1st grader! Even though it may not seem that "serious" it is....have your nephew tell his mom, or you, or dad, or some adult who is teasing him and what they are saying. Teasing about things like that can lead to bigger problems....i know, i was the victim. It started being teased about liking the Yankees to being teased about my race(i am caucasian) HOWEVER it could turn out great and they'll all forget about in a week or two. He needs to tell someone (not his best friend) because depending on who is teasing him, it could lead to a punishment for that person/people. Its important for the bullies to know that its not OK to bully anyone. Poor guy...i know what hes going through

Our school is K-8, even the kindergarten boys are into pink.

So sorry they are giving your nephew a hard time. Pink and purple are two of DH's favorite colors for dress and polo shirts.
