I'm a big girl for 5'2. Not huge, but bigger then i should be (by about 40 pounds)

I love food. let me rephrase that. I love BAD food. Fries, chicken fingers, Crumb cake, Frozen pizza, Burgers, fruity pebbles, pound cake. (strangly, i can walk away from all ice cream and most regular cake)

I am not a fan of most veggies.

I am on the Depo Shot (birth Control). One of the side effects that blessed me was that i lost the 'feeling' that comes with being full (ie; i can eat until i'm about to get sick and not realize it) - this is what they mean when they say you'll gain weight...cuz you'll eat and eat and eat and then want to hurl. :thumbsup2

Last night, i ate so much (again) i wanted to hurl. I make some rockin' pasta, had some pound cake with strawberries for dessert and then 30 minutes later had to lay down because i felt like crap. Lovely.

I'm sick of it. I have until the end of the year on the Depo, but i'm tired NOW. I'm sick of feeling like this NOW. I don't want to not look in the mirror ANYMORE. I want all the summer clothes i own to at least stand a chance. THIS SUMMER.

So i'm trying to change. I threw away the rest of the snacks i bought for myself (that goodness DBF and i like different snacky foods!) and I dusted off the gym membership i have and went this afternoon. Nothing crazy, i just walked for about 30 minutes and did some crunches.

Hello my name is Tara and I'm a food addict. I need help. I need moral support from anyone and everyone. DBF is great, but he alone will not be enough. If anyone has any suggestions, encouragements or comments please feel free! I need all the help i can get...

I just know that i'm TIRED of feeling like a LAZY LARD all the time.

Hi Tara! Welcome to the WISH boards where you will find lots of folks working hard to get healthy just like you. You may want to consider joining us on the Between the BLs Challenge Summer 2009. Here is a link to our thread http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2177354.
Good luck on your journey to good health. Your DIS friends are here for you! :thumbsup2

Hi! I think we have alot in common. I'm 21, and I have a rediculous food addiction too... I laughed when you listed fruity pebbles, I'm obsesssssssed with them. All cereal, really.

Anyway, I had the same "this sucks and I want to look/feel better" thought and this week I've been trying really hard. I tossed the junk and I've been to the gym 3 times this week! Hopefully I get somewhere with this.

Anyway, just wanted to pop in and say good luck to you. I hope you keep that motivation and make a positive change for yourself. Have great success, and post about it, maybe that'll keep me trying! :)

Have you considered doing WW? I joined them a fwe times and have lost weight each time. Unfortunately 2 kids and a happy marriage later the weight is back. But it does work.

I too love food, and find it hard to resist. One of the things that I find that occassionally helps is to always have jello (regular as I don't like sf) with fruit in it on hand. I'll make a bowl in the morning and at night and snack on it when the need arises.

Does your gym have a pool? Water aerobics is a great activty to do during the summer. Plus you don't need to worry about what you look like in a swim suit because all body types participate in it :)

Hi Tara,
I'm 5'2" too! I always think if I was taller I wouldn't have a problem, lol. Right now I want to lose 40-46 pounds, so we are in the same boat.

Why don't you join us in the BL summer thread. This was our first week and WI is tomorrow, so you can jump right in.

I use sparkpeople.com and really like it. Once you get your most used foods entered, it's really easy to track your calories. It even tells you how many calories you need to eat to lose weight.

I'm in the same boat too Tara.

I just started back to Weight Watchers on Wed. night, and I'm doing the Biggest Loser summer challenge. I need to lose 45 pounds total. I lost about 12 pounds in Jan and Feb, but then the batteries died in my Wii fit and I put every ounce right back on! I finally put new batteries in yesterday, and got the Wii Active game too. It's killing me! The weight watchers really does work, and I need to stick to it. I lost 25 pounds on it about 4 years ago for a Disney trip, but I lost my motivation after the vacation.

I really have to get serious this time because I can't find any clothes that fit. Why are the neck holes so big on shirts when you go up to the plus sizes? I don't get it! It's my stomach that's fat, not my neck!

Welcome to WISH!

I just know you can do this because you WANT to! I recommend everything that has been offered here so far.

Set some small goals that you will be able to reach and keep going. Find some way to make this fun and easy for you and you will see that all of your work will be giving you the success you seek.

Grats as well for making this great commitment to yourself. You can do this \.
Take each meal -each day at a time.
Set small goals.. 10% loss is a great 1st goal...

Thanks for all the encourangement everyone!!

I've very proud to say that i've been to the gym everyday since i've posted the first time...I haven't weighted myself yet...I get too focused on the number...But soon....

Also proud to say that i've been sticking to eating good food. (mostly*) My DBF (who, bless him, is fit and can eat a whole pizza and lose 3 pounds) is trying to encourage me, and Thursday night handed me $50.00 and said "go buy some fruit and good stuff for you to eat. you can't eat cookies and whole milk for dinner." LOL :lovestruc He's also been sending text messages while i'm at the gym to encourage me.

My mom is into fitness and healthy living, and has volunteered to come to the gym with me whenever she can!! YAY MOM!!!

*Only downfall...Friday night we ordered chinese food (Friday is DBF night off...he works overnights) HOWEVER:
**I ordered Steamed Chicken
**I ordered White rice instead of pork fried rice
**I actually ate ALL of my broccoli!!

I will admit i ate an eggroll. :sad2: But I'm trying!!

So tomorrow's goal is to actually step on the scale. I can DO THIS!!! :thumbsup2
