Amen to that MeMom!!! I lived in Alaska for over 3 years and somehow I survived, then we moved way WAY South and now when it is 40 outside I'm freezing let alone 13 So I don't know how our northern friends do this for months!!!!

I was debating about getting out this morning, because it is just so cold. My determiner was going to be what I saw when I peeked in on Jackie's Weather Channel. I told myself if it was 20-anything, even just 20, I would go. (I was dressed and ready.) But it showed 11. I decided to just stay home. I will listen to a sermon or two or more from some of my favorite preachers, and that will be my church for today. If I lived in Alaska, I would probably need a lot of favorite preachers!

I am with you, MeMom! I don't know how I would ever survive up North. I am so glad that winter only lasts about three months around here.

I have a feeling I will have the Weather Channel on all day around here just to see how this southern snow storm unfolds.

I looked at those Pop prices for New Year's, and they are steep for a value. I will have to increase the amount of money I am putting in the Disney jar!

Those prices were not pretty. Those are mod prices! We may be taking Miss Anita Wigd up on that bunking in at OKW offer - at least for a few nights. Trent's place has room for some of us, too, and I'm going to be pricing all of those DIS approved hotels around DTD. If we can figure out the first part of the week, we'll just have to pay for a few nights, and that will work out.

I have been watching your Weather Channel off and on. We're in the 2-4 inch zone, but you guys are looking worse off than we are. Better get your Cheese Puffs ready for more snowmen.

All this NYE talk is sooo exciting! I love it! BUT I think what I like best of all is that people from all over are chatting about the possibility of trying to arrange time together. That makes me smile big time. So cool.

I am in Laura's camp, though... I bet WigD is going to cave... MK's 40th ?? Shocker gives her the green light??!! Um.... WHAT is wrong with this picture... Seriously, has someone checked her temperature??!!

Jill 9 inches of snow sounds great to me, but of course only if it falls in DC.

Lauren_Elizabeth -- I say if you have a mom in tow to help you with the babies, that YES, go for it, plain and simple! You had to know that is what EVERYONE on this thread was going to say to you!!!

We are very excited about seeing old friends again and seeing more old friends and new friends for the first time.

What a cool gathering we are, um....gathering. I have said it before - we have met only the very nicest people at all of our DIS meets.

Looks like January is going to make its presence known in a big way first, before it lets us celebrate February.

I'm sending hugs to warm up my cold southern friends...

I really can't complain because we have had a very mild winter so far.
I know it sounds crazy but us Northerners just somehow manage through months of snow, slush, ice, freezing cold temps and the dreaded heating bills.

All I can say is thank goodness for snowplows, salt trucks and winter tires!

We do get skiing, toboganing, ice skating, snowmobiling and snowmen.

But, I would gladly trade it for palm trees and swimming any day.


Great to see that the NYE group is getting bigger by the days!

I had a bit of sticker shock when I was looking at the December trip too.
I'm spoiled with staying during the value seasons.
I think we will be there from the 30th and staying on after NYE.
I can't wait to see all the Christmas stuff and meet all my DIS freinds.

I do say I'm very shocked that Wig'd will not be there for the 40th celebration.

The heating bill will be a killer. Every time it comes on, I hear Disney pennies flowing away. I think I may try to get a M-W-F evenings job somewhere around here.

If you go in at the end of December, you will be better off. The prices at Pop drop in half on the second. The crowds will drop, too.

Opening day of Flower and Garden Festival on March 2nd is going to be a beautiful sight for frozen eyes.

Those figures come three in a pack for $5.95.

Brrrr MeMom so cold!!! It's a balmy frigid here!!! Looks like 1nch coming tonight with accumulations of 6 inches tomorrow. Yes, that will happen while we are at school.

We will be going on a waitlist for the GV at the 7month mark and keep our fingers crossed for a good outcome!
I sure hope we get it!!! Can you imagine the party we will have?

I know it's way too early for discounts to come out for Dec., but maybe something will open up later on for FL residents (Trent could book) or passholders (if you have your pass by then). I got a pretty good FL resident discount for this month, but it's towards the end of the month. The only hotel we've stayed at on Hotel Blvd. is the Holiday Inn back when it was a Courtyard by Marriott. It was great being so close to DTD! It looks like Holiday Inn has really made major improvements! We've also stayed at at some a little farther away so we couldn't walk. Sounds like you've got a plan, I'm sure it will all work out.

MeMom all this talk about New Years Eve has me happy for so many of you that will get to meet up but sad for me. The last week of Dec. is one of the busiest weeks of the year for us. It is the last week that people can pay property taxes & claim it on their income tax. So I will be at work but it will be fun to read about all the meets. I am sure there will be lots of pics.

I love the 40th anniv. things that are coming out. I will have to decide on a few favs in May when we go. I am glad they are out so early. I was not sure if they would wait until Fall but they wasted no time.

I am always happy to see palm trees, but especially so in the spring.

I hadn't thought about getting Trent to book the room(s). Good idea!

I haven't stayed at Vistana but Jamie used to spend a week there every summer with her Dad's family. They have a few time share weeks there. She LOVES Vistana! It's not too far from DTD, but you would definately need a car! There used to be tons of activies for kids and several pools on the property. Lots of room, you can get one and two bedroom condos I know. I've seen some pretty good rates there considering how much room there is. Your whole family could share one easily I would think!

I'm glad Jill is getting her snow day. We are on an "iffy" line here as well for tomorrow night and Tuesday. I really don't want any more days off for snow. We already lost a workday and next to go would be President's Day. After that it's Saturday...not fun!

I found the Disney dishes at Target yesterday. I got two bowls and a cup each of Mickey, Tink, and Ursula.

I wish they allowed point transfers in DVC. That way I could book that OKW grand villa for all of you at 11 months. I hope it all works out!

I just remembered, we stayed in a really nice 2 bedroom suite at Caribe Royale which is near Vistana. They're right next door to Buena Vista Suites which is sort of a sister property. It looks nice also. They're only a couple of miles from DTD and also close to the Premium Outlet Mall.
