My Name Is Jennifer and I am a Pin Trader

I never "got" pin trading. I picked up a few fun ones lover the years that I like such as Halloween pins and Haunted Mansion pins. This was the first trip that I actually traded pins. My DD and I would ask every cast member we encountered if we could look at their pins. I always ended my day with different pins then I started. I must have made two dozen trades over 8 days. I LOVE IT AND I CAN'T STOP!
I am scoping ebay for pins to finish collections I started and I am salivating over some the the rare, hard to find pins.
This is crazy. After about thirteen trips to WDW in the last 17 years, I found something new to make me happy.
Any helpful hints for a newbie would be appreciated.

Welcome Jennifer!!!! I second Spiffie and the suggestion of the eBay super thread, it's the same link you will find in my signature (so you don't end up reading it twice lol) and it's extremely helpful in regards to eBay. Pin trading, addictive but fun!

#1 requirement - HAVE FUN!!
#2 - educate yourself as best you can to know what you have to trade and what you want to trade for. Sadly some will take advantage if you don't gain some pin knowledge.
#3 - HAVE FUN!!
#4 - read the thread that was suggested
#5 - HAVE FUN!!
#6 - Collect what you like, pick a favorite character. If you spread yourself to wide, you'll go broke! It's not exactly an inexpensive hobby.
#7 - last and most important...HAVE FUN!!!

Oh and did I say HAVE FUN!! That is the MOST important part.

Seriously though, when you are beginning to trade with other guests, just go with your gut, and never be afraid to say, "no thank you".

Welcome to the addiction (oops) I mean family. I started out just wanting a "few" things and next thing I know I have over 3,000 pins. I'm joining Pinaholics Anomouse to try to kick the habit, but they just help me collect more. But I love it. Trading is so much more fun than buying. You make friends all over the world. So Trade when you can - buy only if you HAVE to have it.

Another nice site for you to check out is: http://www.pinpics.com After so many pin trades on different trips, I found I was forgetting what pins I had so I set-up an account on that site, listed my pins, and I check it at the end of the day to see if I've made any duplicate trades or traded for any scrapers(unauthorized) pins.
