i saw the rates for the play for 4 days florida resident pass, my neighbor says her mother buys these for her all the time, but on m,ousesavers ist says you need to do a fingerscan... has anyone ever had a florida resident buy their passes for them? please let me know this would save me $500!!!!!! HELP:confused: :(

If my aunt who lives in Florida buys passes for my family of 4 and she goes to the park with us when we first use them, do we all need to show ID or does she have to be the only one to she her ID.

Kids do not have to show FL id, but all others do. The tickets are meant to be used by FL residents, not purchased by them and given to others, even as gifts.

Click Here for information on what is needed to take advantage of the WDW offers for Florida residents.

We bought these 2 years ago and had to show FL ID and do a fingerscan when we exchanged the vouchers for the tickets. EACH time we went through a gate DH, myself and DS had to do the scan. DD was not required to do the scan(she was 6, DS was 10). These are intended for FL residents only. :D

If WDW didn't require proof of residency from people attempting to use FL passes, then buying and reselling FL passes would quickly become a cottage industry in Florida.

In May 2001 my whole family went to WDW. My grandmother, who lived in Florida, was told by Disney that she could by her 4 day to Play ticket as a resident and she could also buy them for her grandchildren/great grandchildren that were under 18 years of age. That's what she did. She purchased them at DTD and had to have the names and birthdates of the children. We had no problems with the kids using them and no finger scans. The kids tickets actually had there name printed on them.

We did this several years ago as my Mother lives in FL. Disney did tell us then, and I do not think the policy has changed, that individuals can purchase these tickets for their grandchildren/great-grandchildren under 18. But the tickets could not be purchased for anyone else in the party. Even DVC members who own a timeshare in FL could not purchase these tickets.

Thanks for clearing this up. I was wondering how this worked. It is great news that fl. residents can buy tix for their grands!

Thank you everyone! I will Definately have her buy them for the kids and my DH and I will have to get ours seperately!!!!! Thanks again, i was not trying to cheat, i was just curious;) Wish i lived in Florida!!!!!! (i used to, trying to remember why i moved back home.....???)

Just remember that the FL resident must be with the children at the ticket window at one of the theme parks to convert those vouchers to actual tickets!

Disney gives great discounts to Florida residents? They already save by not having to fly or rent a car, maybe not even a hotel, plus, they get all those great tax dollars generated by the mouse! It is the rest of us that need the discounts!:bounce:

Maybe it's because we are a stable base that Disney can count on no matter the circumstances. And as for the tax dollars, HA this state is tanking faster than you can say Titanic because of the downturn in tourism. What am I personally getting from the "great tax dollars"? Education systems stinks, development is out of hand and the moronic voters of this state felt like there was a need for an AMENDMENT to cap class sizes that will more than likely bankrupt the state unless jobs and programs are slashed. But yeah we're living it up here.

P.S. Did I mention the below national average wages?

Well put Miss Jasmine!! I still cannot get over that amendment! An amendment for class size, how idiotic!
And yes, we are MUCH more likely to buy a seasonal or annual pass than outsiders. That is what the Play4 is for, to lure one into exchanging it for an AP. We went ahead and got a SP as we wanted the military discount for it!

Florida residents don't get those "great discounts" year-round. Disney typically makes them available in the off-season when they need the visitors. This is the first year I can remember that the Play4Days pass has been available to residents during the summer months, and this year it's because our tourism industry is badly suffering. They used to be pretty rare (less than once a year), and only available to Florida resident AAA members.

Those great tax dollars haven't been there for a couple years. Analysts predict a state budget deficit between 850 million to 1.3 billion dollars this year alone.

And apart from the cheap passes that they occasionally offer, resident discounts aren't any better than what you can get by using codes from Mousesavers. Sometimes Mousesavers is better. Florida is a big state. Unless you live in Central Florida you do fly and rent a car, or drive your own, and pay for a hotel room.
