My Mom's House was Burglarized

My mom went to a cancer survivors meeting today at around 10 and was gone for just about an hour. Her back door window was smashed in and they stole her camcorder and DVD player. I live in the same neighborhood and I'm scared now.

Oh my I'm sorry. Hopefully they left some clues behind so the police can get a lead on them.

Wow they were probably watching the house until your mom left especially since she was only gone for an hour. Also sounds like they knew exactly what they were looking for if that's all they stole most burgulars will trash the place to find things and take alot more then those two things.

I would say it was a neighbor/someone that your mom knew. Hope the police can get some fingerprints!

Midnight, Hopefully your mom can give the police the serial numbers of the stolen items. My parents home was burglarzed in the early 1990's. They had a vcr stolen. Mom was able to supply the serial #. Thankfully, because I work for a police dept., I was able to keep an eye on all the pawn sheets as they came in. I found their VCR on a neighboring city's pawn sheet! I was instrumental on cracking a string of burglaries because of this!!!
These things happen because the theives need quick drug money. They get careless when they take the stolen items to the pawn shops, not realizing the pawn shops give reports to the police depts.
Hopefully, they will catch them.

We had this happen to us and had an alarm installed. Never had problems since. It just helps me sleep at night. I am glad your Mom is ok. I had a robbery before and I was in the salon. It was very violent. I am glad she was not there when this occured. I hope they catch who ever did this! It is so sad.

So sorry! My husband came home and found someone in our house a few months ago. Thankfully,he caught them early and they only got a roll of quarters. Its very uncomfortable knowing they were in our house and know what we own now. We didnt sleep well for weeks.

Wow Midnite - that is one of my worst fears! I'm so glad your mom wasn't home when it happened. It could have been worse. Keep the kids safe and don't open your doors to anybody! Keep us posted if anything else happens.

Something similar happened to me and my sister and my mom.We were at the beach and my mom and sister put their purses in the trunk and we went to the water and laid out for a bout an hour. It was broad daylight with people walking by the parking lot with hotel in either side and are car got broken into! Are window was smashed,unlocked and everything open like the compartments and the purses were gone with EVERYTHING. MOney,credit cards,id,checks,phones. I mean how could nobody see or hear a window smash and see the person going through everything? I guess the burgular decided to be nice and locked the car back up, Like it makes a difference.So we called the police and they took about an hour to get here and he wouldnt even get out of the car to help us, We are sitting here with glass all in the car and a window hanging over the side. He handed my sister the stick to break the rest of the window. He was useless and thats all he did. Nothing was found but nothing in their accounts were stolen. My sister was pregnant too so the stress was bad for the baby and she did scream the '"F" word really really loud.

Thanks everyone for your responses. My mom seems ok. She's not too shaken up, thankfully. We have been burglarized too in the past. I think it was an ex-boyfriend that did it. Whoever it was they took some boards my Grandfather had made for me that had arrowheads on it. This was over a decade ago. I'm still a little raw emotionally over that. It's an awful feeling.
