Well, three weeks ago, hubby and I took my mom to the pin meet at the contemporary to get her out of the house and have some fun. I wasn't sure how she'd like it, since she didn't totally understand this pin thing Fred and I were into.
She just sat there all night and watched as Fred and I traded and looked at pins. When we got to the hotel, she told us how much fun that was! I just looked at her in amazement.
The next morning just for fun, I put one of my extra lanyards on her with some pins and told her to "go for it"!! She was kinda slow at first, but she got into it in no time. When we left to head for home, she was just tickled withh all her new pins.
The after Fred left to go to Atlanta for two weeks, she called me on Friday morning to ask what I was doing that night. I told her I wasn't sure. SHe asked if I was going to the pin meet. I told her probably not since Fred was gone. She then said, "Well, I'll go!" We had created a monster!
Well we went and she had such a good time, me too. I met a sweet lady from Paris and did some trading with her. Mother had admired one pin in particular, so I traded for it. When I gave it to her, she absolutely lit up. It was precious. She is 78, and I just never thought she'd get into it like she has. It's a hoot.
While I was in Atlanta with hubby, we went to the mall and a disney store, where I bought her the new Princess Lanyard w/pins. I told her that night what I had bought, and I wish you could have heard her. It was too funny!! She literally squealed with delight over the phone.
Well, tonight we're going to the contemporary, and guess who is tagging along. Yup, Mom, complete with her very own new lanyard.
Oh by the way, she got to trade with Hauland (alias: Scoop)
That was just so special for me. He had not met my mom yet. I took their picture. He asked her what her favorite character was. She told him she liked the princesses, and was fond of tinkerbell. He then gave her the Disney Dreams pin with Tink, and the princess ball completer pin. She was just so thrilled.
I've just enjoyed watching her, and seeing her light up over these special pieces of metal. It's all about making memories with people you care about. What could be batter than that?!!
Blessings,
Winnie
