pretty much never meows or makes a sound. So just now he made the weirdest little meow and I was like, what is that. I guess he just wanted attention. So all 15lbs or so is on my shoulder as I'm typing this.

Yep he sure is. Finally figured out what he wanted. He saw me bring in a bag of kitty litter from the store. He wanted his pan changed. He kept standing over it and scratching, then getting me.

My Maine Coon hardly ever meows either. I might hear him once or twice a week. He is such a big baby.

I have a maine coon, too! What lovely cats they are!

Here is a cute link to some info about them. My cat looks exactly like the second picture and her brother looks llike the first.

Can we see a picture of yours?

Lets see a pic of the little guy..:D

We have two cats, a stubby-tailed manx and one part Maine Coon. The manx talks a lot, but Libby, the Maine Coon, does these little high-pitched, squeaks. It's funny because she's such a big girl, you expect a loud 'meow'. When she catches a mouse, like she did last Sat. morning, she struts around doing a little half-meow, half-purr. She's a real character......

My maine coone doesn't meow either, he does these weird squeaks. My other cat more than makes up for it with his meowing.

My female looks to be part Maine Coon. She's that kind of long-haired polydactyl cat that's so common in New England. Anyways, she "skwaks" all the time! She has the happy skwak, the demanding skwak, and, worst of all, the skwak that we call "the angry words" You can carry on a full-on conversation with her:p  She is the noisiest cat I've ever met, LOL!

We have a Coon too!

He chirps like a bird, never meow's! He is the best cat. He doesn't even mind when Brittany tries to ride him like a horse.

We got him when he was abt 6 mths old. Man, he was the uglest thing. It took a good 6-9 months to figure out what kind of cat he was.

I just wish we could figure out how to get him to stop shedding. All that long hair is always over everthing. I can vacumn, and the next day it looks like I haven't vacumned for a week.

I had two Maine Coons, a brother and sister. We lost Regis last April to Lymphosarcoma. Maggie has not been well lately. I won't get into the gory details, but she was horribly constipated. Regis had this problem too. I give her tuna, pumpkin, and moist cat food but she is still having problems. I wonder if this is just a problem with this particular breed line or do most Maine Coons have constipation problems? Anyone?

Oh gosh, my mom's Coon (Emmy) purrs all the time (for no apparent reason) and if she wants your attention, she'll kind of chirp "eh" at you and purr even louder.

She also has a penchant for lying around on her back and staring vacantly into space :)

We have a maine coon too! Actually he's half tabby, too, and he meows when he wants to go outside, or when you pick him up (b/c he doesn't like it). And he's a purr-er too. By the way, he is MASSIVE! I think he weighs about 16lbs which is one lb. less than our westie dog. People who see him are always like, "Uh...that's the biggest cat I've ever seen." Thankfully he has an adorable face and gorgeous colors. By the way, aren't cats supposed to be light eaters? Our's always wants to eat. I feel like we starve him b/c he's always leading us to the cabinet for some more food.

talks all the time a real big mouth.

Her name is Zag. She's about 8 years old now. A real queen, a fluff ball of nothing I call her.

My cat was 29lbs. He was adorable, though. He only ate cat food, and we only fed him restricted amounts of diet cat food, so we can't figure out why he was so big! He sadly passed away on Monday after 15 years (he has a tumor in his bladder). Our other cat is only 7 lbs on a good day and she scarfs down anything you put in front of her or she can steal off the table. Chicken, tuna, Twizzlers, Doritoes, ham, moist cat food, EVERYTHING!

My Maine Coon talks ALL OF THE TIME. You're right that it's not a meow, more of a high pitched chortle, but she's VERY talkative. She talks to me when she's hungry. She talks to me in the middle of the night when she wants me to move so she can crawl under the covers to lay up against me. She talks to me when she wants me to pet her instead of read the newspaper. Etc. Etc. Etc.
