My Magical Journey to Running the Half Marathon TR Link! p.107

I am very impressed by your progress Carissa. Absolutely amazing. Those pictures of Tom and Wes must be doing the trick.

:dance3:WOO HOO TY!!!!!!!!!!:dance3:

:woohoo: Carissa, well you did AMAZING! :woohoo: TWENTY MINUTES! :woohoo: AND not to mention 10 LBS! :woohoo:

So, I did read back a tad bit and saw that you were a bit blue BUT now doesn't this just make you feel so awesome! :yay: I am just soooo proud of you. You are making amazing strides in your goals to a new YOU! :yay:

As far as a guide, I used to always buy Birnbaum's WDW Guide and then after reading on here, years ago, I bought the Passporter and it really is fabulous. It is a bit pricey but it is loaded with all the up-to-date info anyone would ever need. :thumbsup2

So glad the boys took the news well!! They will have fun with their Grammy and Grampa and look forward to your return WITH SURPRISES!!! :mickeyjum

Ok, sweetie, there are boxes here calling my nameeeee.......:sad2:

I love dancing guy! :cool1:

:yay::yay::yay:

You are inspiring me to seriously think about excercising while I'm snacking on chips and watching biggest looser.:thumbsup2

:cool1:Just wanted to say hi and let you know I'm still alive. I cant believe I actually did it and survived-the hardest part was walking into the gym (well almost)!!! Unfortunately the treadmill I got was facing a full length, wall-to wall, floor to ceiling mirror-yuk-not pretty at all :scared1:

Luckily my glasses soon misted up from all the effort and I couldnt see much (I make have noticed 1 or 2 people diving for cover when I started to run -thinking there was an earthquake-but I couldn't swear to it):rotfl:

Thanks again for motivating me to give it a go and well done on your fantastic achievements so far:worship:

Other good news -Wait for it-the poopster finally made it to the pot!:woohoo:
Life can only get easier now:)

Does anyone else get the compulsive desire to munch when they watch the Biggest Loser? Happens to me everytime:rotfl:

:rotfl: You are too funny. Great job for getting out there and taking the first step! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 I wouldn't want to watch myself in a mirror either, although I've heard it's good for checking out your form. Are you going to continue with it?

Yay for the poopster! (The funny thing is, that's one of the pet names dh and I have for one another. :rolleyes1 )

I don't watch The Biggest Loser (I have seen episodes, but I've never watched it regularly), but I do get extremely hungry when I watch anything on the Food Network.

:yay:Definitely going to keep going with the c25k now I've finally got the courage up to start. Yesterdays walk/jog ended up at 3.1 km (1.9 miles) so I'm pretty chuffed. Seeing how far you've come inspires me to keep going-now if I just lived nearer wdw I'd run there too (or try to anyway).
Keep meaning to check out the wish thread as I've joined weight watchers too (did that on monday) and might get some ideas there for healthy living:yay:

Wow! You must be going pretty fast!

There is also a C25K thread on the W.I.S.H. board. You might want to check out sparkpeople.com too. Lots of great stuff for healthy living. :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2thanks Carissa I will check it all out. I did warm up at 5.0 jog bit at 8.8 and then walks at 5.5 but did an extra couple minutes warm up because it took me a bit to figure out how to work the machine (my brain was not in gear even if I was):rotfl:

8.8??? Holy smokes!! Were you a runner before?? That is crazy fast for just starting the program. That's under a 7 minute mile. You might find you really need to slow down when the run/jog intervals become longer. Just be careful you don't get hurt.

Good luck! You rock girlfriend!

Thanks! :goodvibes

Is it? I had no idea I just seemed really slow compared to the guy beside me and then I thought maybe your settings were in miles and mine seemed to be kilometers(will you check for me and let me know). I've never run in my life-not even for the bus to school -maybe that explains why my face was puce coloured for ages after!!:rotfl:

I feel a bit achey(is that a real word) today but not too bad. Probably just beginners luck that I got through it,we'll see what tomorrows efforts bring.

Think it works out at 1 mile every 11 minutes if its 8.8 km an hour. Does that sound about right for a beginner to you? God I really havent a clue! I was the girl made kneel at the side of the track saying the rosary for cutting the corners during P.E class(mind you I just thought that was fine by me and I was skinny then):rotfl2:

I hadn't thought of that (yours being in KM). That could be. I'm sure mine are miles, but not sure if the speed on yours would be KM or just be the same as mine. I'll try to see if I can do some research on that. I guess maybe it must be. 5.0 gives you a 12 minute mile. So, if you ended up at just under 2 miles for 30 minutes (was it 30 minutes?), then I guess you were averaging more of a 15 minute mile pace. That makes more sense. You had me scared for a minute!! :rotfl:

Did you make sure to stretch afterwards? I was only sore the day after my first run. But, then I added a stretch for my hip flexors and ever since it's been great. I never get sore after a run - only when I do those crazy lunges and squats. :sad2:

I'll have to see if I can convert your speeds over. Just remember as you go along that if you're having a hard time with a run interval, try slowing down a bit and that should help. :thumbsup2
