Since the theme here lately has been poo, I had to post this picture from today. I took the boys to the Virginia Living Museum in Newport News. We were looking through the gift shop before we headed out and look what I found:

Ok, haven't been out here in awhile and looked what I stepped in.![]()
I have a new challenge for this trip. Not only am I going to run the half marathon, but I am also going to do the remaining three rides that I've been too chicken to try. What are those three you ask??
1) Expedition Everest (we've already discussed this one)
2) Mission: Space (green side)
3) Tower of Terror
Chuck said he asked around and it shouldn't be a problem to get leave time for the trip. The Ike is supposed to be in dry docks for some work when they get back from deployment so I'm hoping there is no chance they'll be going out on a short cruise around the time of our trip. Fingers crossed!
After the 2nd run, I started to get teary. It wasn't a "I'm so proud of myself" cry. It was probably more of a stress release. That's been happening a lot lately. I'm just feeling very down for some reason. It hit me the other day that's it's probably S.A.D. kicking in as it always seems to do in February/March. I start to feel depressed, which is very unlike me, and then a lightbulb goes off and I realize what time of the year it is. I'm thankful I'm aware of it. So anxious for spring to arrive. I miss my time at the beach. I'm also missing my husband a lot today.
Thanks for listening.![]()
poo paper....who started this conversation?

Ok back to seriousness now....but you will love my next post on my PTR...."mouse droppings"![]()
My current reads for this trip are (were)
The Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World by Susan Veness
not really a guide book but more of a fun look at the small things, hidden magic around the parks...why they designed things the way the did kind of read....quite fun!
Mousejunkies! Tips, Tales, and Tricks for a Disney World Fix.... by Bill Burke
this book is great for a seasoned vet of WDW who can get the jokes and crazies of a us Disney junkies...
I am not done reading it and probably will read it again for some good laughs...I have noted a few good tips and reminders that I had not thought of before...
Unofficial Guide to WDW 2010 by ?
sorry can't remeber authours/editors here on this one...but I know you know what I mean...now I checked out the latest copy from my local library and gave away some of my new found info and tips in a recent post on my PTR...you can also purchase w/ a discount code through Mousesavers
I like this book as it gives you the MEAT on WDW not just the bun like some other books...you do not have to read it cover to cover IMHO and most of the info stays the same from yr to yr I have read '08 and '09 as well...
for a quick flip through to the sections you need to read this is my vote...
Sorry to hear you're feeling blue carissa. Hopefully the sun will come out soon! Well done on sticking with the run. I'm starting to sweat it just because it's nearly tuesday (my day to start the c25k). EEK
Going from 8 to 20 really does seem like a huge jump, I can see where that might make anyone panic. While I think timed training like this can be really good, it can also be stressful if you focus more on the numbers than just the exercise if you know what I mean. I'm not sure I could do it the way they outline it for that reason.
I know for me, if I just go and do it and don't think about the time but just my activity at that moment, I'm often far more successful.
You have so much on your plate, homeschooling, single parenting while Chuck is deployed
, and your training
. It's ok to feel down and wonderful that you can recognize it.
As far as guidebooks go....I'm just not a guidebook person. For me they always seem outdated before I get them so I just research everything online. I am sure I am missing lots of things as a result though!
Santa did bring Evan the Hidden Mickey book though and we are excited to use it heavily on our trip. Not exactly what you are looking for though![]()
I'm so glad Chuck thinks it won't be a problem to get the time away from work.
I raised three kids alone. It get rough sometimes. It was 'me and three' - since they were 7, 4, and 1. Feel free to cry around here when you need to so that you can go back and be strong for the boys.
This whole country is looking forward to spring!!!
As for your rides, I've ridden Everest once and never really have to again, Mission:Space is out for a claustrophobic - green side, orange side, or otherwise, and I love Tower of Terror!
Have fun with your planning!
Carissa - you are doing so well!!! Not only are you continuing to move and progress with your running program, but you are doing it in the midst of your husband's deployment. I am a shameful sorry excuse next to you girl!
Keep at it, and keep your chin up. Feel proud - you have earned it!
And what a great trip you have to look forward to! Trying EE and TOT for the 1st time on the same trip...let's just say this will be a memorable one! Those of some of the best attractions WDW can throw at ya!
I actually tried MS for the 1st time myself last year. I had avoided it up until then as I always heard it was bad for people prone to motion sickness, and I can get nauseous simply turning around in the front passenger seat to check on my kids.Anyway, DD and I tried the green side and we loved it! And you know what? It wasn't intense enough for me. So this trip I will be trying Orange. I may live to regret that, but you only live once, right!
