Staying at an all inclusive resort sounds like something I’d love to do sometime soon. You go and don’t have to worry about anything. For those that don’t know what an all inclusive resort is, here ya go…..

Lately, I’ve had several of our patients going to different all inclusive resorts, which is really giving me the push to have us go. It sounds so wonderful! So now I’m wondering how many of you have gone to an all inclusive resort. Give us your relaxing good answer today….

Have you been to an all inclusive resort?
If yes….would you go again?
When did you go?
(multiple choice)

*Please post where you went and if you had a positive experience, please post the resort so others can stay there one day.

For Me…..I’ve never been, but I really want to go sometime - it sounds so relaxing and fun. I love our WDW trips, but it is go go go all the time. A vacation where I’m just relaxing sounds delightful.

I’ve been to two. It’s been so long ago that these hotels have probably been torn down and rebuilt. I remember them being on the older side.

34 years ago - Manzanillo Mexico - with my boyfriend
24 years ago - St. Martaan - with a girlfriend

Had a ton of fun both times! :)
But I’m not really a beach/pool person, so I probably won’t do it again.

I went to one years ago like a lot of years ago close to 30 I enjoyed it tremendously and I would definitely do it again I went to Jamaica 🇯🇲 I had a great time!!! I wouldn’t hesitate to book another trip to an all inclusive resort - I got bit by the Disney bug is one of the reasons why I have not done it since but have looked into it lately

Been to a couple, both in the Dominican Republic. The first time probably 17 or 18 years ago when our kids were little.

The last time was between Christmas and New Years 2020/21. The issue, IMO, that time around was that there were still a lot of Covid restrictions, so there weren’t a lot of activities and stuff was still closed.

All inclusive resorts are ok to me. I’ll likely go back at some point (probably with other couples) but they’re not my favorite vacation. You’re generally stuck in the resort (they’re not usually in great areas, country wise) so the trip consists of sitting by the pool or on the beach, eating a lot of very average food and drinking a lot of bottom shelf alcohol. It gets boring quickly.

One of the best vacations - we have been going to Mexico for 24 years in the Riviera Maya area (Caribbean coast).
There are plenty of activities if you want but for me it is pool time with a book.
The biggest decisions are pool or beach and which restaurant.
We now go for Christmas and only at adult only resorts

Marie and I may have been to one, probably 1972. We went to Runaway Bay Resort in Jamaica. I can't 100% recall if food and drinks were included, but I think so. We had a good time, good memories from long ago.

::yes:: I completely agree with your last paragraph. Completely. And to @slo ’s comment about staying busy on holidays, well, it can be done from a resort but you do need to be willing to leave the compound to take excursions every day ($$$) and many people don’t. We’ve had AI trips where the cost of daily excursions exceeded the cost of the stay itself. Overall, we much prefer cruising.

I marked no because we have never stayed at one as adults. And we don't plan to go to one. But my family went to the kind of resort seen in the movie "Dirty Dancing" when I was a kid. It was in Michigan. We had assigned tables for dinner and a different entertainment every evening. Our hotel rooms had a sink in the room but a communal bathroom down the hall. But it was a different concept from the all inclusive resorts of the modern age.

I’ve been to sandals and beaches, plus a day at RIU in the Bahamas, and a “ranch” in NY with our kids. I was surprised that the food at both sandals and beaches was pretty good. Have also cruised with unlimited drink packages.

I have. It's been a while, but some are definitely better than others. My biggest complaint is similar to my beefs with buffets vs. traditional menu restaurants. Some all inclusives use the whole buying in mass process as a means to cut costs as well as quality. You see it on cruise ships as well. Some also include more activities than others in the price. It's not my favorite way to travel, but don't knock it 'til ya try it.
