My Magic Kingdom wedding pictures are out of focus!! *Finally, a resolution*

Thanks for the support, all. I am currently in contact with Disney Photography and will let you know what the result is, so far they seem like they may be willing to help. But "looking into the issue" and actually doing something about it to at least attempt to resolve it are two different things.

I have tried running several of the images through sharpening filters, both pre- and post-processing, but the focus is just too soft for this trick to work.

I really do feel sick when I think about this. :sad1: All that money and it was my mother's wedding gift to us. She passed away in March, and I'm so glad she never had to find out Disney did such poor a job. Even though it couldn't possibly be her fault, she would have felt terrible and I couldn't have stood that. I spent part of last night in tears, with my DH telling me one day we could re-do the photos. But we shouldn't have to re-do them!!

So sorry :(
It's actually the Disney Photographers that is forcing my hand away from a wishes wedding and into another avenue (S&D). It infuriates me that a choice as personal as a photographer is made by Disney, they should be ashamed. No one would be ok if Disney only allowed their dresses, how can they only allow (crappy) photographers?

Update: I have complied a list of all the images with focus problems. 30 out of 62. Some are slight, only seen when you zoom in or were to try to print a larger image, some are just terrible. Here are a few more examples of my once in a lifetime Disney memories:

Disney has told me they will take up to a week to look at the images I have concerns over and get back to me by phone. I will update after I have spoken to them.

There's another thread where a lot of brides are posting their bridal pics. I wonder how many of them are from the CD's and how many are scanned. It would be nice to have confirmation from current brides that their bridal portraits are turning out well.

I'm so sorry this is happening. I would be in tears too, the in-park shoot is such a HUGE expense (put us over our budget), I hope they really make this right.

Oh my! I'm so sorry this happened to you. You wait all that time so you can get your CD and make prints from it only to find out you can't. Please let us know what DPS does for you to make it right.

I'm using outside photography for my wedding but plan on using DPS for my MK/BP. My outside photographers suggested a Disney Photographer for me to request. They seem to be confident that if I request this person everything should be fine. I sure hope so. We are putting a lot of money, time & stress into these photos. I wouldn't know what to do if over half were out of focus and I got 30 usable images. It just wouldn't be worth it. Please keep us posted. Good-Luck to you.

Three years ago there was a string of brides who had terrible experiences with Disney Photography. Since then Disney seems to have pulled up their socks in this area. That said, it still seems to be very hit and miss as I've seen some photo shoots where the images are stunning and some where they're mediocre at best... However, I have never heard of anyone else being given out of focus pictures.

Ember - I'm very sorry for this - it's totally unacceptable to have to go through this...I really hope they make it right, somehow...

That being said - there are many of us who are very very happy with our experience with DPS - I was very nervous because of all that I had read on the boards. I almost cancelled the shoot a few times in a panic after reading about bad experiences people have had - I ended up having a fantastic experience and couldn't be happier.

I'm certainly not trying to detract from your issue - just trying to reassure the DisBrides out there who have already booked DPS for in park shoots or their DP - it does work out fantastically well for some of us!

You are totally right! There are many couples who are thrilled with their images. And to be fair, I've read more good reviews than bad, and even seen a lot of very beautiful work.

But it shouldn't be a crap shoot as to whether you get good pictures when you're dealing with professionals, particularly at the prices Disney charges. I don't mind paying for quality, but I doubt anyone would say my pictures are worth over $1000. I think my cat could have taken better photos...

Right now I'm trying to be calm about this (in between the feelings of massive disappointment and rage, alternatively) and give Disney a chance to make this better. How they can even remotely do that I don't know... You can't go back in time and adjust the focus, my Magic Kingdom wedding photos can never be taken again... But I am going to give them a chance. If they try to wash their hands of it, or tell me I'm out of luck, then I'll be ready to fight.

But all that aside, I'm very glad you are delighted with your pictures. It's such a special day and the memories are precious, so I'm very happy things worked out well in your case. :thumbsup2 I hope all other Disney brides can have your experience and not mine.

Small update: I have a phone meeting with Disney Photography on Wednesday to discuss the problems. I'm still very worried they will try to tell me, "too bad for you..." So please cross your fingers for me and think good thoughts that Disney does the right thing.

Good luck Ember!!
I am sending lots of pixiedust and hope things work out as best they can in this horrible situation pixiedust:pixiedust:

All my best wishes go out to you Ember, what an awful experience!

I look forward to hearing how you get on

Think about and be specific about what you want as compensation, they obviously cannot fix the bad photographs so you will have to work out what you want or how they can make it up to you - is it your money back or a % of the money back, a re-shoot, a free trip, annual passes, a wedding album/photobook of the good photographs or what you think is just and go into the meeting with that in mind.

Good luck. It's true, the time has past and though a refund seems in order, the experience can't be duplicated but the bigger picture is being heard and perhaps what you have gone through will make Disney aware of some of the problems within the system. Thanks for following this through. I hope it makes a change and that then compensate you as well!!

A contract can be a contract, but the intentions of the contract must be good and the details of the contract must be reasonable.

A lot of the times, a contract is 100% unenforceable (just like the whole "if you come to our event, and are hurt because of our negligence, then you can't sue us.. oh yes you can...).

Its deterrent to reduce nuisance complaints... these were just poorly captured photos and you should not have to pay for them.

It's Thursday morning... I'm hoping OP will pop in and say that Disney is doing something good for her.

I beileve that she posted that today meaning it won't be until next wednesday for her meeting... I could be wrong though.

I really hope that your phone meeting went well!

This does not seem like a case of "not liking" your photographs. It really looks like poor craftsmanship, unacceptable workmanship on the part of the employee, which is something totally under the control of the employer aka DPS. Contract or not, badly produced work product cannot be allowed or accepted.

IMHO, stick to your guns, politely. They should do something to make this right for y'all!

Sorry about the confusion! The meeting is set for Wednesday, Oct. 27. I will be sure to let you know what happens.

On a personal note, thanks for all the support and good wishes. It makes me feel like it's not just me vs. Disney, and gives me confidence that I'm in the right here. Plus, if Disney is reading this, they know that other people know about the situation and it unacceptable. That could be a big help.
