My Little Princess is Turning 8 trip report. Completed

Nichole, to you about Thomas. Try not to worry so much over the next few days until you go in for tests. You can't make yourself sick when you have little ones to be strong for.

My story might make you rest a little bit easier. The day after Thanksgiving (which I hosted) I noticed a lump on the upper portion of my bikini line. Almost a the end of my c-section scar by my hips. Showed it to DH who completely freaks out (he worries over anything health related which makes it hard to talk to him when I'm worried b/c I wind up reassuring him!) DH thinks its a hernia from lifting the 25lb turkey in and out of the oven in my heavy all clad roasting pan. After thinking about it, I think so too. Now its a holiday weekend so I wait until Monday to call my ob/gyn b/c its near my section scar and I had had several infections after my last baby so I wanted them to look at it. On Monday the dr tells me its a severly swollen lymph node (and that I had several swollen ones all over my body) and sends me to the regular dr for blood work.:scared1:

Regular dr takes info and also freaks out a little and sends me for cat scan and mri and more blood work. They mention lymphoma.:scared1: And send me to a surgeon. Surgeon sees me the following week and tells me its just swollen lymph nodes and that my body must be fighting off an infection or illness and that its nothing to worry about really. Talk about relieved! He said come back in six weeks to make sure they had gone away (which I did, and they did). But he said a lot of times you can have a virus and not even know it.

Of course this is the first two weeks during the holiday season, and we were stressed to the hilt, scrambling to find babysitters for dd4 andds2 who were home during the day. Thank god it was nothing and I hate to sound like this, but all that stress and worry and sadness was completely unneccessary. I'm thankful for it, but it was difficult.

So long post, totally OT, but wanted you to know that swollen glands and lymph nodes apparently happen a lot and dr's take it seriously (rightly so) but many times its all fine. HTH! Sorry to ramble!

Thanks Jennifer  .
The Dr. mentioned Lymphoma, which sent me into panic mode and I cried my eyes out for about 2 hours today. I feel terrible because even Thomas who is 3 told me "it's OK mommy the lump will go away all by itself". I sure hope he is right  . I'm a bit better now and my mom is going to bring me a couple zanax in case I need it to keep calm. Thomas is having a CAT Scan and more bloodwork too next week. They checked his white cell count today and it was normal so they don't think it's and infection :confused3 but I'm sure it could be. Hopefully it will turn out to be nothing. Thanks for sharing your story :goodvibes make me feel better. Sorry you had to go through that over the holidays, but glad it turned out fine.

Thinking about you. I'm sure it will be fine. It's just the waiting that'll eat at you.

Exactly :goodvibes . I told DH to call and see if they can fit him in any sooner if possible. The waiting is making me sick to my stomach. Thanks :) .

Sending prayers and hugs:hug: for you and Thomas, I know it is scary when anything comes up with our kids...
You crack me up with your story telling about your hubby :rotfl2: I am guessing he doesn't read your TR?

It sounds like Kaylee had a magical birthday weekend :goodvibes
Can't wait to hear about TL....

Thanks so much for the prayers and hugs :goodvibes . We could use them right now. No my DH doesn't read :lmao: my trippie. I'm pretty up front on thoughts and feeling though. I think DH's (most of them) are worse than the kids on Disney trips. ::yes:: Kaylee's Birthday was magical! I have to take Thomas on a Birthday trip too. Maybe when he turns 5 or 6. I hope he still loves Mickey in a year or two.

Hugs to you Nichole! I'll keep Thomas and your family in my prayers. I agree that I would try to see if he can be seen earlier. I'd want to have the tests done TODAY too :) Good luck and please keep us posted. PM me if you just want to "talk", I'll be happy to listen.

Hi,

I have posted a few times but just wanted to let you know I will be praying for you and Thomas. I just went through something very similar with my daughter they thought she had skin cancer. She had surgery and is fine but I know how you are feeling right now it as the scariest thing I have ever gone through. We had to wait three weeks for the surgey then for the results but she is FINE. Just try to stay calm and strong around him I know how hard it is but I didn't want my daughter to be upset. I would be strong around her then go in my room or batroom and loose it. Keep praying and try to stay positive!

Thanks Cathy :goodvibes for the hug and prayers . Looks like they won't be able to fit us in sooner :sad2: . I will certainly keep you all posted. Dr. sadi I should get results next Thursday.

 Thanks for sharing that, must have been awful seeing your DD going through that. So glad it all turned out fine. I think it's every parents worst nightmare when their kids have a health scare. I'm being better today about not getting upset in front of him. It's hard though ;) .

just a quick note to say I have been reading some of your posts and I will be thinking of you and your family. I wish the best for you.

Nichole - just to let you know, once again I am enjoying your TR...it is getting me in the mood for my own Trip next month!:cheer2:

Also, sending positive thoughts for Thomas.;)

You must be excited to be going back so soon. Are you going to write a trip report?

Day 3, Part 2 Typhoon Lagoon

When left we were driving from HS to Typhoon Lagoon. It was so much quicker driving. I was looking forward to this waterpark since I have never been to it before, only Blizzard Beach and waterparks in NJ and TN. Well it was a beautiful, tropical well themed park. I packed a bag of clothes for us and we rented a locker and then changed.

Sadly our pictures turned out really blurry with the water camera. I wasn't sure if I should even bother posting them. But I will post a few anyway. I was bummed though because the kids had so much on the slides and you can't really see them good in the pics.

The first thing we did was check out the wave pool and find seats. Then the kids wanted to try out a slide thta is near the wave pool. After Thomas came down and went underwater (Tom was supposed to catch him at the end  )I sent Tom to get him a lifevest.

Then we got on line for the Family raft ride. I was really looking forward to this and there was a short wait. Well I was very disspointed, it was short and not worth waiting for for IMO. the one at BB is so much better.

Tom and I took turns taking Kaylee over to the fun Storm slides while the other played at Tike's Peak with Thomas. He got bored with his dad at Tike's peak because Tom didn't realize there were a few more slides that they ride inn a tube down a kiddie size slope. So when I found these slides I couldn't get him off of them. I think he went down 100 times. When Tom and Kaylee got back from the big slides Kaylee of course tried the kiddie slide too since next year she will be too big :rolleyes1 as per the height requirement.
I took so many pictures of this but they are all blurry :sad2: .

Next we took a long ride on the lazy river and I have to say I loved this lazy river better than any other waterpark. Kaylee lost her goggles but her daddy dove down and found them for her luckily.

We had alot of fun here and I plan on going to the waterparks again in October. I wanted to try out the giant waves in the wave pool. this is a pic of the wave pool but none of us are in it. In the bottom one you can see Kaylee standing though.

Thomas, Tom and Kaylee were suppossed to stay in a bit after were they break to be safe. Well Kaylee didn't listen because she is a swimmer (not as good as she thinks) and moved out over her head a bit. When the big wave came she tried to run in and got trampled and the concrete took a chunk out of the side of her foot. When I came out from the wave I could see her with Tom and know she had gotten hurt. So I ran and it didn't look bad at first. Tom decided to go try out the wave pool, can you say good timing :rolleyes1 Then I rinsed the sand off Kaylee's foot nad it looked nasty.
I took Kaylee and Thomas back to our chairs to get all our towels and crocs. Then I was walking with all our stuff and the kids looking for the first aid. When I noticed Kaylee was really white :scared1: even her lips. I grabbed her as she was about to faint :faint: and carried her to a chair near the wave pool to make sure she was alright. I dropped half our stuff and had no idea where the first aid was since I couldn't see good with blurry dried out contacts. Thomas and I yelled like idiots for Tom to come in from the wave pool. Finally he did and he carried Kaylee to the First aid. The nurse cleaned Kaylee's foot, and gave her ointment and a large band aid. Quite a chunk of skin of missing but nothing that could be stitched or anything.

After this we decided to call it it a day and leave. I really wanted to try Crush N Gusher and the see the shark reef. but next time I will. We rinsed off and grabbed a snack. After the snack Kaylee's color was completely back. Then Tom went to get the car and pick us up out front so Kaylee didn't have to walk too far. Then we drove back to Pop to figure what we wanted to on our last evening.

Up Next: Our Last Evening at Disney!!

Awww - poor Kaylee! I'm glad it wasn't too bad though - but still scary.

The waterpark looks great - even with the blurry pictures. I've only ever been to River Country (RIP :sad1: ) but am thinking about going over the summer. What would you recommend - Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon. Samantha is not a great swimmer but would enjoy the raft type rides.

Can't wait to hear about what you did on your final night. :)

I had to post and let you all know that Thomas had his CT scan yesterday
and his Bloodwork. It was a trying day as Thomas deosn't like DR's or people messing with him. He cried alot when he got home but is his ahppy slef today. It was scary watching him get so sedated and have to have IV's put in. Tom and I had a rough time.

His Ped's nurse called and said he has a Thyoglossal Duct cyst and that it is usually Benign :worship: , non cancerous. It's something when the thyroid doesn't form right. The nurse made like it was nothing urgent  which is
dare I say ignorant of her. They referred us to and ear nose throat specialist. Who was able to get us in on Thursday, of course that is Kaylee's school field trip day but my other option was waiting 3 more weeks for a cancelation. So we are going Thursday to the specialist since I don't want to wait. I have been reading up and usually these things are removed under general Anthesia :scared1: which doesn't make me happy that he might have to have surgery but it could be worse I guess. Sometimes it's close to the glands, blood vessels and the Larnyx. It's better to have them removed since sometimes they give the child trouble breathing or swallowing. Also he seems to rub his chin and face alot like he is itchy (the last 6 weeks) so I think it might be pressing on a nerve. Keep Thomas in your prayers and thought please. I'll post and update on Thursday evening after his appointment.

Nichole, first off, sending all my hugs for you and Tom and little Thomas. I know this must be hard so keep the faith and I'm sure all will turn out ok. Kids are resilient little things!

I will be thinking of your family and please let us know how it goes tomorrow.

:grouphug:

Secondly, I loved the update on your water park day! Sorry the pictures are blurry, but you can tell everyone was having fun! That's so scary about Kaylee and almost fainting. I guess sometimes kids just can't handle seeing an injury like that on themselves (Oh, who am I kidding, I can't handle seeing an injury on MYSELF! :rotfl2: )

Looking forward to your last night at the World!

Sara

I hope everything is ok with Thomas!! So sorry about Kaylee's foot! That's not a fun way to end the water park!
