My latest project (warning cat post)

Well... it has happened once again. Some unkind soul abandoned a cat in our countryside area... and left him to "fend for himself". He arrived on my door step last week. Severe infection in his eyes and sinuses - very underweight - and very dehydrated. I have taken to calling him "sick kitty" and the name is still attached (LOL!). I have not allowed him into the house and we worried about his infecting our other cats with his illness - but I could not turn him away. So we set up an area for him on the porch, a bed, water and food. He has settled right in. Over the past week his weight has increased and his eyes are much improved. He is not out of the woods yet - still has congestion - but he is on the mend. The other cats have left him alone - and so far everyone is in great health.

I was going to post a picture of him here... but my DH installed a new CD Drive on my PC today... and in the process ended up having to reinstall my Windows 2000 software... and lost my Canon digital camera software. I am too lazy to go get the CD and reinstall... so I will save it for another day.

I thought we might lose him the first couple of days... but he is on the mend and looking pretty good. Amazing what some water and love can do.

Any suggestions for a name? I think he will be sticking around.

Aww, glad to hear he is feeling better DD! Hmmm as far as names, I may have to think about that for a minute or two.

LOL Gina! "Lucky" always conjures up the image of that dog from the "fake lost" poster... you know the one... missing a leg, glass eye, mange, and yes... he is neutered! His name is "Lucky". LOL!

Now how many do you have? I'm like you. I now have seven. They show up on my deck! What am I to do!!!

My cats names are:

Fluffy - original, huh?
Grumpy Ol' Man - his markings make him look like a grouch, but he's not
Peanut - tiny little thing
Baby -- she just is
Sam - I just love the name
LaLa - she is wayyyyy out there! LOL!! Whew! LOL!!
Little Orphan Annie - Annie for short. She's the most ferrel of them all and she is a riot!! I can tell that she thinks the other cats are weird. LOL!!

I hadn't thought about that old joke in a long time!!! My DD has written out a list of names for whenever she gets a cat. Would you like me to share some?

Yes Gail! Please do! I can't call him "sick kitty" all the time... because I truly hope he won't stay sick for very long.

Maggie.... this will bring us back up to 9. You may recall I used to have 10 for a long time. I had two of my "boys" pass on this year and so we were actually starting to move towards a more "normal" number (long way to go to get there!). They are all cats who have been dumped. We take them in, get them nuetered and spayed... and give them love, food, water, and a warm place to sleep. Many of them are outdoor kitties (can't have them overrunning the house) but they have access to our heated pumphouse through a kitty door... and our barn.

Love your kitty's names! La La... hmmm... we have one of those.. we call her "Skidder" but she is truly LA LA! LOL!

I can't help after all.....I just read her list of 37 names and they're all for a girl cat!!! I check with her in the morning to see if she has any boy names she can suggest.

Thank you so much DD for taking in all those homeless kitties and giving them foodie and lovins. Hope 'sick kitty' becomes 'healthy kitty'.

I thought seriously of calling him "Smelly Cat" from the song that Phoebe on "Friends" always sings! LOL! He is not smelly by any stretch though... so I have decided not to do that to him. I just laugh everytime I hear her singing that song though...
