Today we went to a friend's daughter's 4th BDay party. it was pretty fun and was a Lilo and Stitch theme. Besides the usual summer stuff in the bags, each kid got....
A GOLDFISH!!!!!
Now DH is bringing a bowl home he has at work, and I had to go buy food...I think next year I"ll buy this kid a hamster or guinea pig or some other obnoxious thing. One of the fish actually died before anyone left and everyone was trying to say "that's my kid's fish"!! NO ONE wanted them. And of course since I have 3 kids, I got 3 fish!!
We have a 15 year old cat and a 3 1/2 year old dog. We used to have an aquarium but no one ever cleaned it (I said from the start I wouldn't-never liked fish). I don't know if she realizes no one wants the fish or that she thinks it's funny that no parents want them, but the kids do. ARRGHH!

I imagine she thought she was being very creative. Sorry you're stuck with 3 goldfish. We never had good luck with fish at my house :(

I would not appreciate goldfish. They tend to die too fast.

 What do these Parents THINK with these days.....

that is crazy goldfish as a party gift!!!!!!!!!OMG. next year she'll give puppies. lol!!!! i would have died. think how poor fish feel:D

Wow! I thought my DD was the only one who went to a party with a fish as a favor...it was some sort of blue fish, not a goldfish. I grumbled too...I had flashbacks of my goldfish flopping into the kitchen sink when I was a kid. ;) If I recall correctly, none of the "favors" survived more than a few days.

Anyway...you NEVER give a pet of any kind to anyone without their permission. Geez.

Oh my! I thought it was just going to be something noisy that eats batteries. That is completely rediculous.

kermit I think Rock'nRobin would rather have the noisy toy.

That lady wasn't a clear thinker was she?

Fish for a party favor is a bit creative but it's also a lot annoying!!
My kids win them at carnivals & they never live long for us. I've actually considered just putting them directly in the toilet bowl to swim for a while b/c they die so quickly they'll end up there soon anyway so why bother with a bowl:p hee-hee

May someone return "the favor" the next time her kid goes to a birthday party!!!

She must have thought it was "cute":( I would not!

Maybe you could convince the fish dept. at Wal-Mart or some such place to take a "donation"!

I agree its not a great thing to receive!

Not to scare you, but my sister when she was four won a goldfish at the county fair. It died last year. She turned seventeen last month ;) It grew to be five inches long and turned all white.

Amen, Mary Ann! Animals are responsibilities, not gifts!

Did you all see when Jay Leno gave Matt LeBlanc a puppy on his show? What a moron! Matt even said right before he got it that he didn't want one! Maybe Jay should have asked him that question BEFORE actually buying one.

You scared me for a sec...we had a Lilo & Stitch Birthday party today and I was thinking "I thought we gave out cool gifts" hahaha then I read further. I agree, a goldfish is a little out there. We gave little bubble blowing fish though ;)

I thought I had a lot to complain about when my kids got these Harry Potter Jelly Bellies today from a birthday party that had flavors like Sardines, Barf, Boogars, and Ear Wax!

LOL AZKathy! DS had those jelly beans one time and very studiously tried each one. Except for Boogers which he convinced DH to try. Boys! ;)

YIKES. All I can say is ..... read my red tagline!!!!!!
