my idea of a gourmet meal: fried shrimp, french fries, and coleslaw

I like to eat food like this occasionally too but I just can't eat fried stuff for every meal. It gets downright nasty after a while.

I'm learning to walk away from fried because of a gluten intolerance. It helps. But, I miss fried shrimp so badly.

(BTW: I think you met me at the food and wine festival last year)

Of course I remember you! I saw you enough times to remember you. Plus you hung out with my friends at both the Ditch and the scary Leather Muppet's dinner featuring Dead Sea Pasta. If that's not a bonding experience, I don't know what is! :rotfl2: If you're going back to the festival anywhere between Oct 9-17, we might run into each other again.

I'm not going to look down my nose at you for that, but what I don't like is being picked on as being elitist because I am not happy with the quality at Disney TS in relation to the prices they charge or the quality they provided at a fair price a few years back.

I like a wide range of food, from the comfort food served at 50's Prime Time to the fancy fine dining at Victoria and Albert's. But, I am 100% in agreement about the quality of food vs. the value they're charging for it. I used my steak at Yachtsman (well, served to me in the Crew's Cup Lounge) as an example. The $40 filet mignon was not on par to the quality I expect a filet to have. I have no problem paying that for beef of good quality. It wasn't. The filet I had last month at Shula's was far better, around the same price.

I don't mind paying higher in a captive audience setting if the food served meets my standard of quality. I still have no problem getting stuff at California Grill, but the cheese plate has now priced itself out of the value it deserved. The cheese is great, but they're now charging too much for it, so I don't get it now.

Until the food gets better (never) I won't do DDP, but I will do the QSDDP.
The quality of the QS options is surprisingly good and the two snacks a day to use at the F&W festival is a bargain.

I have to say that I was glad I did have the dining plan when I ate at Cape May. The food was decent, not spectacular. But I don't know if I'd feel it was a good value if I paid OOP instead of part of the DDP. I don't usually hit buffets anymore. I like Boma, but it's been a while since I've been there.

Now that the restaurants at the Swan and Dolphin take Tables in Wonderland, I'll probably be eating there more often. I've been a big fan of having appetizers for dinner, which also makes DDP less appealing for me.

Off Topic but:
One other problem with food in the Country is shows like Man V Food.
That guy is killing himself and people are cheering him on as he eats like a pig.

I'm fascinated by that show, but boy, I get indigestion watching him either eat massive protein and carbs or get a capsaicin blast from the hottest peppers on earth.

I am closing this thread as I think it's lost its point, not that I am all that sure it had a point to begin with. Now it's just griping and people taking shots at each other, or at least thinking a shot's been taken at them.
