My husband thinks Disney will reduce Star Wars hotel pricing after initial release

I hear you, but they only need to convince ~18,000 people per year that it's not. Seems doable.
Totally agree. I think it will be booked solid. All you have to do is look at VIP tour pricing and how many people sign up for that. There are plenty of people who will pay this kind of money. We're in--at least once.

P.S. Meant to add ... take a look at concierge room pricing and what happened to those rooms when the WISH was released. Those rooms were very expensive and went like hotcakes.

We are big SW fans but I am far from being this foolish with our $$, to pay these rates, :)

That’s a really good point.

I do wonder if, 5 years down the line and the novelty has worn off, it might become a hotel without the immersive experience.

This is my thought as well. Once the initial demand wears off, they may realize that there is not enough continuing interest to fill the hotel at these prices. But they many not be able to lower the prices while still maintaining the components necessary for the completely immersive experience. I have a hard time seeing the demand sustaining this immersive experience long term.

The pricing is right inline with cruise pricing so its possible that the prices could change because of the season. A lot like peak vs no peak ticket prices. ....... but it might be awhile.

They will lower the price somewhat but then probably get rid of most of the actors and immersion. So basically motel 6 with some Star Wars branding.

I looked into this for my husband, who is a big star wars fan, but not to the point of cosplay, so the overall immersive experience part didn't do it for him. He would rather just tour Batuu. When I showed him the price he laughed - zero interest. This thing is targeted at the cosplay people like one of my friends who went to WDW and dropped thousands on light sabers, robots and costumes for each of his kids and himself.

It's not a hotel. I'm not sure if WDW had given a good description of what it actually is, since I'm sure they don't want to consider discouraging booking. They won't lock you in, but if you use it like a regular hotel and leave daily to go to to the parks, you just spent a bunch of money for nothing. And there's no pool.

Anyway if you want to, you CAN do SDD and TOT on your planet visit day...but apparently you just need to be back in order to catch the transportation if you want to continue the illusion you are paying for. And why anybody would pay what this costs just to treat it like a regular hotel or park visit is beyond me.

I think once this Star Wars Resort experience opens I can honestly say it will fail because people will not stay because of the price alone and once it opens i'd give it five or six months before the prices will get lower and they will probably get lower once Christmas 2022 hits. But already Disney is promoting it like crazy by having Youtube ads for it. But for the mega price what can Star Wars fans do that makes it so pricey. I mean you expect a Star Wars themed room much like a child's bedroom with Star Wars posters on the walls and you can have a Chewbacca or Yoda plushie sit on your pillow to cuddle with while you go to sleep. But I also think for the hardcore Star Wars fan it will be worth it and if they have a character breakfast where you can take photos with Han Solo Luke Skywalker and the rest of the Star Wars gang but as I mentioned this resort will fail and not do as well as the other Disney resorts and they should've done something a lot better and cheaper

If this goes well, I eagerly await the Harry Potter competitor. THAT would be worth paying for IMO.

There are a total of only 100 rooms and suites in the Galactic Starcruiser, with new "departures" starting every other day. That is, approximately 180 departures per year. If you estimate 3.5 guests per room, that works out to about 63 thousand people per year who will get to have this experience. According to Themed Entertainment Association, Walt Disney World has an average daily attendance of 57 thousand... Let that sink in. Only a small fraction of people on planet Earth will ever get to have this Starcruiser experience.

Now, whether this will fail in the long-term remains to be seen... But the fact that there are people with funds who are willing to book this experience out as far as September 2022 (10 months away!) tells you something. And don't forget, bookings for the general public haven't even been open for a full 3 weeks yet.

If you really want to know what the experience is all about, you should review the information on the Galactic Starcruiser website. Suffice it to say, what has been revealed about this so far bears absolutely no resemblance to what you seem to be imagining.

Personally we thought they were nuts with the pricing -we are not bid Star wars fans- My brother is who was with us this year but he does not go to Disney much..... Rise of the resistance is a very convincing reason for the pricing....
