OMG! I am sooo proud of this. My DD (10) is obsessed by Monster High, and I wanted so bad to do this for her, but didn't know if I could pull it off, esp. by Christmas, but I done it. Most people don't understand my excitement about this, but I knew my Budget minded DISsers would, :goodvibes especially since I did this for less than $75.

I nearly bit off more than I could chew with this, but so glad I tried. Also, gotta give DH some credit for the carpentry work on the house. Thanks for letting me share. I was tired of the weird looks from my family, as to why the "ugly dolls" DD has, needed a house. BTW, I don't think they are ugly at all, I'm glad DD likes a doll that teaches her that it's okay to be different, I guess that's why I'm embracing this fad as much as she is. :thumbsup2

I am not familiar with Monster High or the dolls you made this house for, but I think you did a great job. It clearly took you some time to do this and I am sure your daughter will love it. I especially like room numbers 8 (snowy/ice look with the glitter and fringe) and 9 (with the blood splatter). :thumbsup2

The house is amazing!!! You should be really, really proud of yourself. What a great idea!

Wow! I'm impressed. Tell us more, what'd ya use for the walls & flooring?

DH made the walls and floor from 1"x8" pine boards, and the back is 1/4" plywood. That's where the biggest cost come from, around $60 for the wood.

the house is 4'x6'

I made the beds from the leftover plywood, so no cost there.
The floor covering is print felt (.50 a sheet at Hobby Lobby).
I used cheap craft paint for the walls (.60 a bottle).
The chandelier in Spectra's room is a Christmas tree ornament I found at Hobby Lobby for $3.
I have about $10 in fabric from the satin used on Abbey's and Cleo's beds, and the trim used on Draculaura's, Abbey's, and Spectra's walls.
All the other decor (old movie posters, border in Cleo's room, the surfboard in Lagoona's room, and the sarcophagus cover in Cleo's room), I just ran off on my printer and used spray adhesive to put them on the walls and stuff.

Thanks for all the kudos:flower3: everyone! I knew you all would understand my excitement.

That is so cool!!! the details are fantastic.

This will be a gift that your daughter will always remember even as an adult. :lovestruc

I am not really familiar with monster high either, but that is AMAZING and I am sure your daughter will love it!

Like some of the others, I am not familiar with monster high but I think you did an amazing job at building this. I am sure your daughter will lbe so suprised and totally love it!

I think it looks great, I love the themed rooms. You did a great job!

I have been planning to make a MH dollhouse for my dd but I am not handy enough to build it from scratch. I am on the lookout for a cheap (maybe used) Barbie house that I will repaint & decorate.

Where did you get the little movie posters for each room?

Great job! We made our DD a large dollhouse for her AG dolls last Christmas. It was a lot of work, but we are so glad we did it. She plays with it all the time and it is a big hit when her friends come to play. I hope your DD enjoys her house just as much!

You did a great job! I just built American Girl houses in my girls closets and I know how girls love special places for the dolls. I especially love the bit of sparkle.

Not a Monster High fan but :worship: That was awesome! Your daughter is going to love it!!! Congrats on an amazing job!

That was my original idea, but it was coming down to the wire because I wanted it for Christmas, and after checking e-bay, craigslist, all the thrift stores, and begging friends and family to check their attics and basements, I couldn't find one. I had sold the girls Barbie house years ago in a yard sale, because neither of my girls ever really liked Barbie, so it was just in the way.

DH is pretty handy (thank goodness), so I just had him build it, because we were quickly running out of time.

And the movie posters I found online and printed out. I just googled vintage Movie posters and inserted the theme I needed like ghost, frankenstein, vampire, mummy, ect.

good luck on making your Monster High house!
