It turns out that for my ressie at Boma they are putting us in 2 tables of 8.

For my reception lunch at the GF Cafe' we could be put at 3 or 4 different tables. Have any other brides had this happen? Did it seem weird?

I know sometimes that when they say you have two tables it means two table tops but the tables are right next to each other. I often travel with large groups and they have always said that we have multiple tables but they have always been together. I think that since it is not one large table that is why they say that?? I hope that makes sense the way I explained it lol... hope you are not more confused now.

Are you saying that they push them together or that they just make sure that your back is facing the table that belongs to your party? Sometimes I just don't think quick enough to figure out explanations :lmao:

Depending on the location depends on if they will push them together. If you have the first seating alot of time they will put them together but if you dont they may not. They will just be at the table next to you.. and of course there is always the off chance that they put you all over the place but I have never had that happen in many times with large groups... 20 or more. Maybe you can call the restaurants directly and speak to the manager to insure they are next to each other at the very least but explain that you would like them pushed together.

Thanks so much Skylarr! The woman I spoke with told me that with Boma they would most likely seat us nearby, but for our farewell breakfast at 1900 they guarantee that they will seat the two tables of 8 next to each other. I'll call the manager at Boma to see if they can help me out.

I had this happen to me at 1900 Park Fare for our pre-wedding dinner, the night before the wedding, and had no idea until we all arrived. We had to sit at two different tables and I was not happy. The tables were across from one another. Then, at our post-wedding dinner, the night of our wedding, we had reservations at 'Ohana and we were seated at two different tables. I was not told any of this ahead of time and when I requested the reservations for 'Ohana, I was told the tables were together. I explained my situation and was a bit angry. I told them I did it the night before, but would not do it on my wedding day. The situation was taken care of and two round tables were put togehter by using a smaller table between them. It actually worked great and much easier for everyone to see eachother! We only had 16 people, including bride & groom, so I wanted to be together.

That sucks that you had so much of a problem.... I wish DIsney would be consistant with the way they do things....and you would think that for a wedding that just cost thousands they could fix the situation and make it a priority..jeesh.

I'm with you Skylarr. It doesn't cost them any money to push two tables together so why don't they do it? :confused3

I had my rehearsal dinner at Park Fare 1900...we had about 40 people...they put us at tables of 4, 6 and 8...but they were all in this little private-like room (we did have two other families at two 4 tops because we didn't fill the whole room). It was fine...maybe not for those two families, but for us ;-)

they just cant guarantee tables together thats what cro told me back when i was planning my rd & ladies lunch in march. i was so worried about it too. i had my rd billed to my master account & not sure if that helped or not but all 14 of us were seated together at 1 large table whispering canyon i also had a custom cake made & made sure it was noted on the account & when i arrived it was our rd. with my ladies lunch i had the same issue there was 7 of us at crt at mk which was paid in advance they kept telling me they would try to keep us at 2 tables near eachother. in the end it worked out we waited an extra 10 minutes after our seating was scheduled & they sat us at 1 large table for lunch.

i think if they know its a special occasion they will try to accomodate you when you arrive. best of luck & pixie dust! :wizard:

Hi there, we are just beginning to plan our wedding at the Seabreeze point, and I was told the same thing regarding reservations for any type of reception dinner.

We are only having a gathering of 20 people so it doesn't seem necessary to pay the $2k minimum to get a private room.

Today I found another option through the Grand Floridian. Apparently you can charter the Grand One yacht for only $400/hr and they will serve food.

Looks like our best option (we will also have 8 kids attending so it keeps them all in one place) for keeping us together, has anyone else done this??

Please advise! :thumbsup2

I'm sorry to say that I was a guest of a friend and it was a surprise so I do not have photos of the evening. I'm sure others do. It is good to note that the boats do change out on occasion when they sell one and get a new one and then the style of the boat does change.

Thank you all for the advice. Just confirmed the Grand One only holds 14 people and can only sit 8 if you offer food on board.

She mentioned another boat named 'Magical Gatherings' from the Contemporary, has anyone heard of this one?

Just amazed at how much time is spent on hold planning this reception :-)

magical gatherings are for groups over 8 (you have to register as a magical gathering through disney) through this they have 4 party options, these are not private through this is with others groups also so there would be restrictions on wearing your wedding attire. you can read more about magical gatherings at the disney mainsite which is down for technical issues right now. but you can read more about them here: http://allearsnet.com/pl/magath.htm

the magical fireworks voyage is $29.99 per person & each boat accomodates about 50 if i remember correctly.
