My girls art teacher was arrested

The art teacher from the elementary and middle school was arrested for child porn! He plead not guilty to possessing it, but guilty to sending it over the internet....what is the difference??

My 14 yr old had him in 5th grade, my youngest has had him for her teacher the last 2 yrs. (4th and 5th). He has resigned and the district sent a letter to all the families. This makes me sick. I have met this teacher...he actually spent time camping with another teacher and some families (including mine) 3 yrs ago. My kids feel like they can't trust even a teacher now.

The district claims nothing happened with any of the students from the school....I hope this is true. I talked to the girls about it. Melissa said he took class pictures, but lots of teachers do that at the end of the year. I hope that was all there was to those pictures and they didn't go out over the internet.

I was telling DH that child porn is about as low as it gets. It's the one thing that just about any normal person would NEVER look at. Not even for morbid curiosity - it's that disgusting.

I hope this guy gets what he deserves and I'm sorry your kids had to go through this Nancy. It will be hard to convince them that most teachers are good people.

How sick... I am so sorry. I remember when my math teach in HS was arrested for molestation of a student. Totally shocking and sad when that happens. That teacher had always creeped me out and now I know why.

That said my favorite teachers in HS were male... so I wouldn't ever want to say that male teachers are bad.... especially knowing that females will do it too (remember the teacher who became pregnant by a 12 or so year old student?)

Yes, or that one that's in the news right now. In Florida. She's 23 and was messing around with her 14 year old student. What is wrong with these people?

I don't think it matters much if teachers are male or female. I think that there are just some really sick people out there!! It's really a shame.

DS wants to be a HS History teacher and we are encouraging him to do so. Some of the best teachers I ever had were of the male persuasion.....


Nancy I am sorry your kids had to go thru this situation. I hope that you will be able to help them to be able to trust adults again.

Statistically speaking, the majority of sexual offenders are male. That being said, with so many young men and women being reared by single mothers, I think that it is important to have good male role models!

I am sorry about your experience, however. My DH worked with one of the most prolific child porn offenders ever prosecuted. It shook our world a bit.

There are some sick people on this board, both genders, whom I could not imagine trusting a child with. Just think of some.

I'm so sorry that this is happening to you, as you know I am on the same boat as you with kids in elementary school. That is one of the many reasons why I chose to work in the school and why I do what I do in my kids school, it doesn't mean that nobody can do anything to my child but at least it won't be so easy , at least that is my hope.
Yes , it is a very scary thought , but in this day and age you have to be afraid if any kind of person , male or female, going from janitors to teachers and anyone in between. Sad but true.

I think anyone who molests or harms a child should be put to death or put in prison forever. Those sickos can not be rehabilitated.
