Okay, well, I don't know quite where to start..... :confused3

Last night, after I got off the DIS, I got a phone call at midnight from my friend Staci who was staying with my friend Chelsea. She sounded very upset and said that our friend, Chelsea, (the one who went to MNSSHP last Oct. with me) was at the local emergency room having severe pains in her lower, right abdomen.

Apparently, for about 3 days her stomach had been aching and feeling uneasy. It suddenly got tremendously worse, yesterday after school, and they took her to the ER at about 9pm. Staci called us at midnight and told us what was going on. Then we rushed to get to the hospital.

Staci has been going through a rough time right now, and last night was very hard on her. Her mother has been very ill, her father is away at work and his childhood friend died this week, and now she thought that something awful was going to happen to our best friend. When we arrived at the hospital, she had a good cry. It was very heart-wrenching to see her like that and knowing that you can't do anything but stay with her and do your best to give some sort of comfort.
Chelsea was scared....mostly nervous I think, though. They told her what they suspected it to be and she was exhibiting most of the symptoms. At the mention of surgery, she broke down and cried; Cheer-leading try-outs are tomorrow and Mon. She was planning on trying-out. That's impossible now.

By 2am, she was in surgery with acute appendicitis. (Coincidentally, another girl from our small school, of less than 200 kids, was in around the same time with the same problem. She was taken into surgery after Chelsea.)

The surgeon said that it's a good thing that they came when they did because her appendix was red and inflamed and it was very close to bursting.

We may have gotten no sleep at all last night, but thankfully the surgery went well, and tonight she is recovering at home.

Please keep our Chelsea, her family, and Staci in your prayers and thoughts!

Thank you,

Sarah

So sorry to hear that. Hope she gets better soon!!!

Thank you! I really hope she gets well soon, too! She's a fighter though, so she'll be fine, I think. :)

I'm sorry, it's hard to see people you love in pain. I'll keep all of you in my prayers tonight.

Thank you so much, and yes, it broke my heart to see both of my dear friends cry and it really hurt to see Chelsea in pain. Thank you for thinking of them tonight in your prayers! :grouphug:

DS had his appendix out when he was 9. He recovered quickly. I'm sure your friend will be fine - sore for about a week - but fine.

Good wishes for both Chelsea and Staci, as well as the other girl who was ill. Hope their recoveries are short and comfortable. And you are a good kid, showing the concern and compassion you are. My best for you all.

Sending good thoughts that she recovers quickly! :thumbsup2 My brother had a ruptured appendix that kept him in ICU for a few days but he made it through just fine. :)

Thank you and yes I'm sure she'll be fine.

Right now she's just upset because, she was going to try-out for high-school cheer-leading tomorrow and Mon. but, now she can't. Next year is our freshman year of HS. She was just really sad about that. The surgeon says that had her mom not got her there when she did, her appendix would have ruptured and she would be suffering from more serious illnesses. :sad2:

Thank you, Mr. Dan! The other girl had a stone in her appendix as well, but the surgeon still said that Chelsea's was a more serious case. :confused3 Thank you for all your kind words, they mean allot :grouphug:

Thank you tiggersmom2, I hope that she has a quick recovery, and sorry to hear about your brother's case! I hope everything has went well since then for y'all. :grouphug:

Thank you minnieM3, I'm so glad she made it in time also! They were talking about transferring her, but they decided to just go-ahead and get-it-over-with. It was a good thing because, any longer waiting would have allowed it to burst.

Thanks to you all! :grouphug:

Oh my. I'm so glad she got treatment in time! God bless! :grouphug:

Hope your friend is up and around quickly. maybe they can make an exception and let her tryout after she is feeling better. I would think under these circumstances they should.

Thank both of you! :grouphug:

I hope they can but, the lady doing it is very strict. She told the girls planning to try-out that she didn't care if you were in the hospital or if a family member died, you have a responsibility to your team to be there. Even under those circumstances, she will make you run laps.

I don't see how she could do that though if illness or death was involved. :confused3

I hope it all works out for the best....that's all I can hope for.... :hourglass

My thoughts and prayers go out to your friends. I believe things happen for a reason even if we don't know why at the time. She must be very disappointed about the try-out. I know how that can be. My dd cheered for the last 6 years. Our school has a policy that you can tryout later if medical excuse, but it must be within two weeks and you have to pay for the judges to return. They will hold off announcing the squad till then. Maybe your school has a written policy as well. Nancy

Sending prayers and healing vibes out to both of the girls you know suffering with this right now. It's no fun having surgery, especially when you have been in pain and are scared.

The good news is that recovery is usually pretty quick in healthy people. So, it will slow them down for a short while, but I bet they are up and about in no time at al!

You sound like a great friend to have around!

My thoughts and prayers are with both of them and I hope their road to recovery is SHORT.

I am so sorry about the try outs. I have never understood when exceptions can't be made for extreme illness, and deaths, etc...I mean yes it is important to live up to commitments in HS but ya know there are just some things that are beyond anybody's control like being in the hospital w/ appendicitis!

Thank you, Nasi, and I hope we have a policy like that at the high school. :goodvibes

Thank you! She is a very healthy girl and she will have to be careful to take things slow for a few days, but soon I hope she'll be cheering, dancing, and moving like nothing happened :teeth: Thank you very much; I try to be a good friend and we've been best friends since 4th an 5th grade (now we're 8th graders) and we're so close that we care about each other like sisters. That was a very kind thing for you to say! :hippie:

Thank you; She was upset about the try-outs and I know it was important to her but, I think it would be good for us achedemically because we would have more time to work on our grades and we would have allot less stress. Thanks again! :wizard:

It certainly warrants a talk with the advisor to see if an exception could be made for her.

:grouphug: Hope everyone feels better soon.
