She took her 5 year old to adopt a kitten at the humane society (ds and I tagged along) and there was a 1yr old male orange and white kitty who was "free" (there were 3 or 4 others too) she asked to see him in the visiting room even though they thought they wanted a kitten and were told he was free because today was his last chance. He had an upper respiratory infection and if he wasn't adopted today, he would be euthanized tonight.
He is such a nice cat, super affectionate, her sons "energy" didn't phase him a bit and he was purring away. He will be neutered on Monday, she can take him home on Tuesday. It's not very original, but they are naming him Lucky.

I feel so bad about the other cats who were "free" I hope they got adopted too.
