Continued from previous post:
All in all, our flight was pretty uneventful. Mom stuck up a conversation with the guy sitting next to them. I had my headphones in already and I don't know exactly what she said, or how I came up as part of the conversation with this guy, but the result was that Mom hit me on the head with her water bottle and called me a rat!
Guys, for real, I have absolutely no idea why she did this, and when asked, she can't remember either!
I call foul.
Daggers I tell you. Daggers I shot in her general direction.
The flight actually picked up time and we landed at 1am, which was only about 30 minutes later than we were supposed to land had the flight not been delayed.
We made it off the plane pretty quickly and then headed to the faux-norail.

While waiting for the faux-norail to come, Mom, Pop and I discussed the divide and conquer method. Mom and Pop would take the carryons and go to Alamo to get the rental counter, and then Julia and I would get the checked baggage. We would then meet them at the rental counter and walk out together to get the car.

Well, I say that Pop was part of the discussion, but clearly he wasn't. Or he wasn't listening. Because we get down one level, Julia and I are about to walk to the baggage carousel, and he goes "so you want us to pull the car around to pick you up, right?"

Dude, did you not listen to the five minute conversation we had with Mom that you clearly were not listening to?
Popadon quote, not me. "Sometimes, all I hear is womp womp womp....."

Regardless, Mom understood and told Pop what to do at that moment.
Julia and I headed to the baggage carousel, and only waited about 2 minutes before the carousel started up. Score! I felt terrible for a family though. Their luggage came up the conveyor completely open, and there were clothes all over the place! I think their zipper broke or something, but man. That sucks! Everyone was helping them get the stuff off the conveyor to make sure they had everything in hand. I'm glad that wasn't me that happened to. I'd be pretty upset about it.
Our baggage came out like 5 minutes later, which was awesome! By the time Julia and I got everything and got to the Alamo counter, Mom and Pop were just finishing up with the guy. Good timing. We had rented a minivan, and he told Pop to make sure to pick a Town and Country, because they were much nicer than the others. Thanks for the tip Mr. Rental Man.
It was about 1:45am when we got to the car, which really wasn't bad considering. That was deplaning, getting the baggage, and getting the car.
At about 2:15am we were passing through the DARK Disney gates.
I repeat. They were dark. Completely dark, no lights at all. I didn't realize that they turned the lights off on the gates.
Bummer!
Our first night was at Kidani Village. Pop dropped us off and then pulled the car into the parking area.

We had packed overnight bags to make it easier, so the rest of the luggage stayed in the car overnight. No need to lug out the checked bags.

And that ladies and gentlemen ended the pictures for that day. Because at that point, it was 2:30am and I was trying not to pass out. Our Magic Bands weren't working, so they had to issue us a key for the night. We were staying this one night together in a one bedroom before heading over to the Wilderness Lodge the next day to check into our two studios for the week. Julia and I pulled out the couch and pretty much passed out. I think we all hit the hay at about 3am. I still wanted to get up at 8am to get started for the day and get checked in at the Wilderness Lodge before heading to the park for the day.
A decision I would come to regret the next day.
Ooooohhhhh. Foreshadowing.

Up Next: Write that down, he'll never say that again!
And a preview....
