My first trip to WDW and DH's first time being arrested (Dec 2009)

Hi Lee- I just started reading your TR yesterday and I am loving it!! Can't wait for the next entry! :thumbsup2

Phew. I didn't miss that much. All caught up now. You and Rig really made some great friends in Grant and Jenny. I'm so glad Grant was able to help Rig out. I was hoping he wouldn't be charged with anything. Good thing the manager saw everything that happened. I was hoping he or someone else had seen the cheap shots he had taken by Truck. Had it been me, I might have been arrested to. I would've went out to help Rig if I saw someone jumped from behind like that. I'm hoping from this point on, the rest of your trip was magical for you. I'll be around waiting for the next chapter. Gives me time to catch up on nebo's report.

yay!! I can't wait to hear more! I am awaiting your thread and Big Brother tonight! I was so glad when brendon put up matt!! yay! he gets to use the Diamond Veto!!!! AND I think Maybe Kathy will go up. at least thats who I want to go up... haha she is nice enough... but.... not the best competetor. (sp?)
and LOL. I thought it was hillarious that Rachel was the "bad" thing that happened to the House!! too funny....
anyway take care, I hope you are having a nice day! I must go and call my sister now, and make sure she is updated on your thread. :D

I couldn't imagine laying on a hotel floor! I won't even walk on a hotel floor bare-footed. I always remember the Jon & Kate Plus 8 episode where she was telling the producer (on their Disney trip) that she nor her kids would walk bare-footed on a hotel floor, and that is so me!

The only hotels that I DO walk around barefooted in is Disney hotels. I dunno, I guess I just trust it more

WOW! That's all I can really say...My suspicions were pretty accurate on the letter. But that has just got to put a hole in poor Rig's heart. Trying so hard to keep in touch with his family and they go and do something like this to him. So glad that he has you to go home to every day. You sound like you are each other's rock. I am patiently waiting the next installment :thumbsup2

They had a story on Dateline a while back about bad hotel housekeeping and dirty hotels, and one of the Disney hotels was featured. So don't count Disney hotels as being cleaner than any other brand!:rotfl:

Rig and I both started to stir around the same time. I felt much better after sleeping again.

Our plan for that day was to go to Animal Kingdom, for very obvious reasons that did not happen. Even if we left right now the park would only be open for a few more hours.

Since we had used 2 table service credits the day before, we didn't have any reservations that day that we had to be at, we did each have 2 counter service credits for the day. We weren't sure if we wanted to use them at a different park or just go to everything Pop.
I got out my papers that Emily had put together and printed out for me, it had all our reservation numers on it, plus park hours and events. (She really is a great trip agent, she was just as excited to help me pick restaurants as I was to go.)
Magic Kingdom was going to be open late. We had wanted to see spectro magic but didn't think we would ever get the chance since we didn't have the park hopper and all of the days they were showing Spectro Magic we already had other parks and reservations planned. But since we didn't use a park ticket that day, we could do Spectro Magic.

So we had a plan, neither one of us had eaten since Planet Hollywood the night before. Our first goal would be to eat. Our second goal was to take it easy. Rig was pretty banged up and fast thrill rides wouldn't have been a good idea.

Rig was going to wear his sunglasses to cover at least some of the bruises, but his eye was too swollen and the glasses just pushed on it making it uncomfortable, so he had to go without and just hope that he could shield some of it with his hat.

We went down to the bus stops and got in line for Magic Kingdom, the bus came fairly quick. It didn't completely fill up, but it was still full. It was one of those buses where some of the chairs face eachother. We ended up sitting across from a man and his teenage son.

You could tell they didn't want to stare at Rig, but everybody knows how that goes, you can't not look at a car accident.

That man finally said to Rig, "You look like you got hit by a bus, what happened?"

I would never ask somebody what happened to cause that kind of trauma, what if it were a really bad story? what if it were an accident that somebody had died in and now they had to think about it.

But Rig handled it well. "I got hit by a truck."

"no kidding?"

I smiled and looked down, it wasn't a lie, he did get hit by "A" truck, there was no reason to tell the guy that "truck" was his brother.

"Was it your fault or the trucks fault?"

"Both, I made the first stupid mistake though."

"you're one lucky S.O.B."

It's amazing how 2 people can be talking about the same thing but it really isn't the same. If that makes any sense.

Once we got into magic kingdom we started looking for a place to eat. I finally asked a lady what would be a good place to eat that wasn't too far into the park. and she told me Casey's Corner, it was a hot dog place.

I don't care much for hotdogs, Rig could almost live on hotdogs, but then again he likes spam too, so Casey's Corner is where we went.

It must be a popular place because it was pretty full. We got in line and Rig told me to just tell him what I wanted and for me to save us a table. I offered to stand in line so he could sit and hold a table for us and take it easy but Rig wouldn't have it. I went outside to look for a table. It wasn't easy, there were empty tables but people had their strollers parked at them, some had jackets or knapsacks on them reserving their table while they stood in line.

Just as Rig was coming out I saw a family getting up to leave and I went over and asked for the table. she was sweet, "Oh sure honey take it."

Rig came over and set the tray on the table. "Babylee, did you want cheese?"

the lady looked at Rig, "Oh my God, what happened to your face?"

Are there no boundaries that people won't cross over? I mean I know at disney World people seem to be a little more nice then in the real world, but come on.

"I just took a tumble."
"Aw honey." she patted his arm and walked away and Rig went back in to get cheese for my corn dog nuggets.

I don't know if I was just that hungry, or if like I said before, Disney has a way of making everything taste good, but those corn dog nuggets were so yummy. I ate every last one and maybe half of my fries.

Rig couldn't eat his hot dog, I felt so bad for him, "what if I cut it up for you?"

Rig just shook his head no and ate his fries and the rest of mine. We both had the brownie for dessert. We sat sipping our pop for a while just watching people, when Rig asked me what I would like to do.

I wanted to go to Fantasyland and go on the winnie the pooh ride.
So Rig dumped our trash in the can and we started walking over that way. We were getting a lot of stares, I couldn't wait for it to get dark, we could somewhat hide in the dark and the stares would be less.

When it was our turn to get in our honey pots (which I think is the coolest way to ride around the thousand acre woods) Rig put his arm around me and I settled in close to him and felt like things could only get better now.

After Winnie the pooh, we walked over to Peter Pan, we had to back track. I think Rig and I did more walking at the parks then we needed to. We would pick a ride we wanted and have to cross the park and then the next ride we wanted we might have to go back again, we very seldom rode the rides in the order as we came across them. At least not at Magic Kingdom anyway.

the Peter Pan ride was beautiful, I wanted to lay back against Rig like I do on all the rides, but on this ride I had to lean forward and look down, and to the left. this ride felt really magical.

We skipped the snow white ride, the line was really long, and we went to It's a small world instead. Rig had gone on this ride years before with his family and said it was the one ride he wouldn't mind missing but he would go on it for me.

I thought It's a small world was cute, but it bored the tar out of me.
I mostly talked to Rig on this one. I understood why Rig wouldn't mind missing it. but it was a classic and I am glad to say that I have been on it's a small world.

We weren't too far from hidden mansion so we thought we would ride it again, even though we had already gone on it twice on our first day at Magic Kingdom, you can't get bored on that ride, there is too much to look at.

We thought it might be closed, there wasn't anybody in line, we walked right up to the door and were let in to the scream room as I called it. But I guess it's the stretching room. I didn't watch the pictures or the ceiling this time. I chose to hug on my man.

After haunted mansion we just walked, we didn't have an idea of what we wanted to ride next. It was getting pretty chilly too.

It was still over an hour away until spectro magic, but I really wasn't feeling it anymore. "Rig? we'll come back to disney world again someday right?"

"Maybe we should finish this trip before we start planning the next one Babylee."

"Well the thing is, I want to see Spectro Magic but I don't feel like being here right now, I just want to go back to the hotel."

"Are you feeling ok?"

"I just don't want to be around people anymore."

"Ok, we can go."

We made our way back to Pop Century, we almost had the bus to ourselves.
We went into everything pop and Rig got some chicken soup. I got carrot and celery sticks using a snack credit.

We sat down and ate them there instead of taking it back to the room. when we were done we discussed maybe taking a walk around the resort, but we both decided we would save it for another day when it was hopfully warmer and we weren't so tired.

In our room, we both showered and got ready for bed. It was still early, but it felt good to just be done with the day.

We talked for along time, and laughed hard at some of the comments Rig had gotten while we were out that day.

After a while we started to settle down more, the onversation was here and there instead of flowing.

"Rig so far, what is your favorite ride in all of Disney world?"

"Space Mountain."

"Really, even after Soarin and test track?"

"Yup."

"And your least favorite is, Cinderellas carousel or It's a small world?"

"No, my least favorite so far was the ride to the pokey in the back of a squad car."

"that's not funny Rig."

We were quiet for a while, "Rig what was jail like? were you scared?"

"I was scared for our future, I didn't know what was going to happen."

"did you have to wear jail clothes."

Rig laughed, "No Babylee, I wore my own clothes."

"It's just us now isn't it? We really only have eachother."

Rig kissed my on my fore head. "that's all we ever needed, babylee."

That man finally said to Rig, "You look like you got hit by a bus, what happened?"

I would never ask somebody what happened to cause that kind of trauma, what if it were a really bad story? what if it were an accident that somebody had died in and now they had to think about it.

Yeah, that's hard to believe someone would actually ask someone something like that. Very rude. I don't even think I could give them a valid answer because of the shock I would be in for getting asked that.

I'm sorry Lee. :( Instead of looking at how much you don't have, look at all you do. Many people would kill for a love like yours. My DH hasn't spoken to his family in probably 7 years, he never will again. I have never seen my father and his 5 kids and never will and my mom hasn't talked to me in months (she has gone years in the past, and that time I broke the silence. I tired to break this silence and she declined, I won't be trying again.) We have my grandparents, and I am grateful for them, but otherwise we have each other and our kids. And good friends. I am an "aunt" cause "our friend says I am" :rotfl:. But really, my kids wouldn't have ever had aunts, uncles or cousins biologically anyway so we've made extended family with our good friends families. It may not be the same, I don't know, but it is nice. I wish that for you someday. You and Rig will do what DH and I did, we made the family we always wished we had. :lovestruc

Wow! What an amazing trip report. I just read all 37 pages. Yes, I have a life, but I was just so drawn in. I am sorry your trip has had a downturn. Unfortunately family is one of the things that can usually change things in a heart beat...for better or worse. Be thankful for your relationship with Rig. There are people in the world that would do anything for a love like that. I am lucky to have one myself. Just celebrated our 12th anniversary on this past Sunday. Time goes so quickly. I can't wait till you post your next installment. I am so hoping that your trip is taking a turn for the better.

Now the fiction is showing. Pooh and Peter Pan will have the long lines while Snow White will not! ;)

I am still enjoying it anyway.:thumbsup2

RigLee, you are an awesome writer! I am loving every installment you post. I can't wait to read more!

It is surprising what stupid things people say. I have a daughter who is adopted from China and a biological daughter who are 2 months apart in age. When they were infants and I had them in a stroller, people would say the darndest things. Emily, bio-daughter, had a very round head, little hair and what she had of it was white, and bright blue eyes. Annika had black baby chick hair (that is what I call short baby hair that sticks straight up) and dark black eyes. People would say such dumb and mean things to me. My friends used to tell me that I should just tell them that the infertility clinic or that yes, I had relations with two different men, one Chinese and one Swedish, on the same day (can I use those words here?)!

Even now I when I tell people that I have 2 8-year olds I often get a mean look and then told "don't you mean twins?" as if I am stupid and don't know to call my children twins. Well, they are not. :flower3:

But Rig handled it well. "I got hit by a truck."

I almost choked on my coffee when I read this part, because I was laughing so hard. Got some weird looks here are work. Probably wondering what I was laughing at.

"No, my least favorite so far was the ride to the pokey in the back of a squad car."

I'll have to remember to avoid this ride now when we go in October. :lmao:
