My first trip to WDW and DH's first time being arrested (Dec 2009)

Hey ya'll. I will have a post up by Tuesday. I just thought I would try and answer some of ya'lls posts till then.

Baylee So agree on this ride. Stitch is my sons fav and he was so disappoint with this ride.
It was a huge let down, I really think Disney could do better, it's almost like this ride was an after thought.

Well there you have it, straight from the horse's, I mean er little boys mouth. The carousel is for girls. Which means I don't have to ride it in our up coming trip in 2 weeks.

And I'll also be sure to watch out for a nipplectomy. DW can be like Lee at times. She don't like many of the thrill rides, but will do them because I like them.

Thanks for another great update.
Yea, Rig never rode it again after that either. But really Thumper_Man, if your wife wanted you to ride you would wouldn't you?:confused3 Especially if she does the thrill rides for you? Here's a tip for the nipplectomy rides, put one arm around the wife and the other across your chest. That's how Rig started riding them. And again I would like to say I was a good 3 inches from the nipple!

Yeah!!! Double updates!!! I was getting worried about you, though I know life gets in the way of our fun sometimes. Hope all is well with you 2  birds. ;)

Believe it or not I have not gone on Stitch. My DH and DD15 did when it first opened and I waited with the younger kids, he said don't waste your time and I never did. I have read nothing good about it so I don't think I ever will.
Life gets super busy this time of year. But I will try and update at least once a week. I know the posts are getting shorter but it's kind of at that point in the trip where we're doing the same things over and over and all there is to talk about is the conversations we had. I'm trying though and Animal Kingdom should be a good update.

You are not missing anything by not going on stitch.

You can't get much sexier than a gentleman with a slow drawl and a Resistol!! I married a bayou boy from Louisiana and that is equally good!!
I am so glad you got live your dream with the love of your life...what a special memory to hold in your heart and share with your children one day. I have enjoyed every minute of reading about you and your sweetheart of a husband. As lucky as you are to have such a man, he is equally as lucky to have you! Yall are too cute for words and I hope yall are able to return to the World one day. I look forward to reading the rest! Wishing you all the best.....God Bless!!!

Thank you for reading. I appreciate the nice comments from you. I have learned to ignore the rude ones, they have pretty much dimished anyway. I'm just telling my story now, that's all.

Awesome update once again Lee! I love reading your TR because it makes you look at touring WDW in a whole new way! Plus I always get a good laugh during my work day Can't wait for the next one!

I'm so glad that you are having fun reading this. It is just as much fun writing it.
I think disney world as huge as it is needs to be taken in stride, rushing through it can cause you to not only miss some of the sights but also the feelings that only disney world can give you.

I just found this TR today and read it from start to finish (skipping over all the OPs' comments of course)! This was one of the most entertaining and descriptive trip reports I've ever read. Since there are no pictures I've made up in my head what everyone looks like ;)
Way to go! And thank you for reading. So what do you imagine us to look like?

I lurk around on the Dis quite a bit to get my Disney fix. I don't make many posts for fear of getting slammed or flamed but I wanted you to know that I have really, truly been enjoying your trip report very much! I love your writing style, it is captivating! Can't wait to read the rest. :cheer2:
Thank you so much for reading. And don't worry about getting slammed, it happens to the best of us at one time or another.

hey lee!! i found your TR yesterday and i just could not stop reading, its awesome!! im glad that you kept going with it, given some of the comments. you go girl!! im finally all caught up and i cant wait to read more. you and rig are just so adorable i cant stand it :lmao: im from boston, home of clam chowda and the red sox, but not the friendliest people ;) so its nice to know that there are gentlemen out there like rig :woohoo:.

not that he isnt amazing, but i think ill make my boyfriend read this TR and maybe some of rig's southern hospitality will rub off on him
:lmao: Thank you so much. Your post made me laugh.

Hi Lee! Just found your TR today & have made it through almost all of the updates...just LOVE your writing! It's making me even more excited for my upcoming trip with my oldest son (25 yrs old)...I just wish his younger brother (21) would get just a little bit of the Disney bug , but I guess to each his own. It's a neat thing having a son who wants to take a trip to Disney with his mother! :goodvibes

There are candles out there that have those wonderful, familiar Disney smells. Just do a search for Disney candle smells and there are some sites that will come up (don't want to put a web link on here, but they DO exist!).

They have POTC, Soarin', Mickey's PhilHarmagic, Main Street Bakery, etc. Don't know how they are since I've never ordered from them before...they always seem to be out of stock! :confused3
That is great that your son wants to do Disney with you.
I want to look into the Disney candles. That sounds amazing.

I rode the carousel while on my Oct. '09 visit. I hadn't been on it in years and it was such a disappointment. My friends and I were sitting on the horses waiting for the ride to begin longer than the ride actually lasted. I think it was a 30 second ride and I am not joking. I think the CM could have let us go around a few more times considering it was almost midnight and there wasn't any wait for the ride. Come on...

So True! The ride is about 30 seconds. Just enough time to smile and say weeee!

I am loving this TR!!! I found y'all yesterday and have read it all in two days? Can't wait to hear more! :cheer2:
Thank you for reading and posting. I will update again soon.
Going out of town for the weekend. I hope I come back to another installment!! I love reading this TR!! :rolleyes1
Have a good trip out of town. I should have something up soon

I came across your Trip Report a few days ago and wanted to post a comment, when I had read all you had written by now. I just love it. I'm from Germany and we have been to Disney World for our Honeymoon. We hope to go back in a few Years with our Kids. If you and Rig want to visit Germany at One Time, please let me Know and you can stay with us and if you need anything, like Haribo (the Factory and the factory Store is a 30 minute drive Away from our House) please let me Know.

Wow, that is super sweet of you. I'm not sure if I will ever make it across the ocean, but thanks so much for the offer. And I found out that Walmart carries the Haribo gummi bears, just the bears, but that's all I need.

We are going to Disney in two weeks and cannot wait! We stay in timeshares nearby and have a 3 bedroom with just the two of us. If you want another trip, you have your own room just waiting for ya!

We have been married 37 years and have three grown children and a few grandkids now. No one wanted to go with us for this trip, so we are on our own for two weeks in a huge condo. Let me know, Leela, if you want to join us!

My Rig is Rick, and he isn't a cowboy, he is a fireman for 35 years now, ready to retire soon, so we can work and live near Disneyworld. Oh, yes, that is our plan, and it's a good one for two Disney nuts like us.

Ellen's ride for us is just a nice nap and nothing else (hey, we have been married 37 years!). We married at 18, the both of us, and 37 1/2 years later, still going strong and loving our lives together.

I hope you get a little princess first, so you can take her to Disney and meet the princesses. Our granddaughter was 19 months for her first Disney trip, and she was a blast. Such a good girl.

Have fun on your trip, maybe Ellens ride might be alittle something more this time?:confused3 does it matter that it's been 37 years? Nah! go for it girl! Take your man in your arms and plant a big ole kiss on him!

Thank you so much for the offer to join you on your trip, that sounds wonderful, maybe some day we will get back to disney, but there is so much we need to do here first. But Gosh that is so sweet of you to open your vacation house to strangers.

Hey, I'm a Southie girl myself & I try to spread the pixie dust every day in Boston - just keep looking 'cause we're out there ....... just like you! :goodvibes Now if the pixie dust caould have only work on our beloved Sox this season ........ :worried:
:

If he's from Southie, sorry honey, it's not gonna work! :rotfl:[/QUOTE]
I managed to find nice people where ever I go. I know ya'll are out there. Thanks for reading.;)

I'll be checking back! Glad to see you were able to check in for a little bit though. Everyone have a great Monday! :)

wow...I cant believe I have finally caught up. I have been reading this for the last 3 days and all I can say is I feel like I know you...and I wish you were my next door neighbor! :flower3:

I shake my head at those who insist on debating anything whereas this TR is concerned, or your marriage and the love you obviously feel deep enough to be able to write about it as intoxicatingly as you do.

I am so enthralled with your love story and your first trip to Disney is certainly a memorable one! What keeps me smiling is knowing you will go again and hopefully not be deterred in writing about that trip too.

I do feel sad, though, knowing that this will end and I find myself wondering if you may consider starting a blog of you and Rig's every day life. Not the behind the closed doors stuff...*blush*...but of your anecdotes in the diner and on the ranch. I would be so psyched if you did!

Grant and Jenny are so very lucky to have found you as friends! I hope you stick around even after your TR is over so that we can keep in contact!

Aladins carpets was something we hadn't done yet. From standing in line we could tell that it was going to be a short ride, just like the carousel and dumbo but we were in line and had nothing else to do, so we ventured on.

It was a fun ride, a short ride. and on the second go round I got spit in the face by the camel. Twice now in one day I had been spit on.

"That is so nasty."

"Babylee, it's just water."

"I know that, but the idea that it's supposed to be spit is sickening."

We rode the jungle cruise next. I liked this ride, we sat in the very back, our boat wasn't too packed. We were the young ones on this boat, The rest of the people were grandmas and grandpas. (I'm guessing they had grand children, maybe even some great grandchildren) Sweet people.

The boat driver was funny, but I swear I had never heard so many puns jammed into a tour in my whole life. I don't know if Rig really thought it was that funny or if he was just humoring the poor guy, but he laughed hard, even slapped his knee a few times. The other people were laughing at Rig laughing so hard. They were probably thinking this poor cowboy doesn't get off his horse much.

At the part where the boat goes through the cave, Rig took his hat off and covered our faces so we could have a "private" moment without being too much of a distraction to our tour guide. Things got quiet. I knew then that we were a distraction anyway. Rig cleared his throat, "You can continue on."
he told the boat driver.

"Are you sure?"

Rig looked at me. "Are we all done Babylee?"

"We're good." I said

The boat driver just stared at us.

"You were saying something about monkeys." Rig reminded the driver.

"No I wasn't, you weren't paying attention at all." The boat driver was chuckling, I think maybe he was enjoying the stray from the norm.

"But can you blame me?" Rig asked, "Wasn't that the tunnel of love there?"

The driver smirked and got back to his tour, when it was over he said "if you enjoyed the ride his name was James, if not, his name was Bob."

Rig and I were the last to deboard. "Nice talking to ya James, Rig said. "If you enjoyed our show, we're Leela and Rig, if not, we're Jenny and Grant."

I smacked Rigs arm, "That's rude."

"No, it's funny."

It was way past lunch so we started discussing where we would eat. Rig wanted to eat at Caseys Corner again since he really didn't get to eat his food the last time we were there. Hot dogs! Yuck! But being such a loving and understanding wife I agreed to it. (with the exception that he get me a candy apple that day)

It was easier to find a table this time, Rig got our food, I went with the corn dog nuggets and fries again. Rig got a hot dog and fries.

"Whoever invented hotdogs is a genius. "Rig said biting into it

"A genius? I doubt it, who in their right mind thinks that throwing all the left overs of the animal together, compressing it and throwing in between bread is a good idea?!"

"Left overs?" Rig asked raising his eyebrows

"Yea, hotdogs are made up of the lips and snout and eyeballs and bunhole and ears, wax probably included."

"That's what gives it it's great taste."

I shuttered at the thought. I have a way of grossing myself out, I need to learn to not think things through so much.

I mostly ate my fries, smothered in cheese.

"Ketchup was smart too, but mustard and ketchup together, that's where it's at." Rig was on his "I'd like to shake the hand of the man who invented......" kick

"I'm pretty sure it was a woman who invented ketchup....probably to mask the nastiness of hotdogs that a man invented." I said dryly

"Well man can not live on ketchup alone, hotdogs though, he could live on forever."

"Rig, if you want to argue we can do that, I promise you I will win."

"Nope, I don't want to argue Babylee," He held up his hotdog. "I wanna eat."

I crumpled up my napkin and tossed it at Rig.

Rig ate his hotdog and the majority of my corn dog nuggets. We had gotten crackerjacks for our dessert. It was ok, but I was going to hold out for a candy apple later.

We found a nice quiet place to sit after lunch to let our food settle. We people watched and made up our stories about couples. We had a really good story going about a guy who was a cage fighter. (the guy was huge and very intimidating looking) his wife or girlfriend we decided was a school bus driver. we decided on that because of the way she would look at kids as they passed by her, if they were loud she would scowl at them. Her husband took his winnings from his last cage fight and brought his wife to Disney so she could escape her loud and frustrating job. She hated him for this, she wanted a relaxing trip to the bahamas, now she was reminded of her job every minute, there is no escaping kids at Disney. And he knew this, we didn't want to call him passive agressive, but the reason for this trip was selfish, he was a closet Tinkerbell fan but seeing as he is this big mammoth looking cage fighter and has a rep to uphold, he could never come out and say that Disney World was his dream destination, so instead he planned this trip for his wife.

Rig and I wondered if people were possibley making up stories about us. We could only imagine what would be said about a cowboy with a busted up face.

After our food had settled and we finished several rounds of "As the Disney World turns" we headed over to haunted Mansion, this had become our favorite dark ride at Magic Kingdom, sometimes we actually took in the sights on the ride, sometimes we didn't.

We also went and rode Snow Whites scary adventure. That was a quick moving ride, it really rushed us through, it reminded me of those old haunted house rides with a traveling carnival, the car goes so fast you miss alot. I didn't like it.

W felt like we had done everything a couple of times and still had another Magic Kingdom day planned, so we decided to just go back to the room and relax. So we made our way back down main street, Rig stopped to get me a candy apple and was able to use a snack credit for it.

The bus was empty heading back. We had it to ourselves almost. The bus driver even waited for a while for it to fill up, but in the end it was just a handful of us.

I wanted to go to the pool since the weather was decent. Like always Rig went and filled our mugs while I staked out a spot by the pool. We had that to ourselves, I guessed with all the cold rainy weather people didn't want to waste a nice day at the pool when they could be at the parks. It was nice having that big ole place just for us. Rig kicked off his boots and swam with me for a little bit. We kept waiting for somebody or a lifeguard to show up and say he couldn't swim in his jeans but nobody ever did.

We stayed at the pool for over an hour before going back to the room. I showered and put on my jammies, prepared for a nice quiet evening in the room, we even shut our phones off. Rig ordered pizza and salad. It showed up within the hour. The pizza was so good and not too expensive either.

We watched TV. and just a nice lazy night. We fell asleep pretty early and it was the best sleep I had gotten since we first arrived in Disney.

Welcome back Lee! Thanks for another update. Hubby and I are taking our daughter, SIL, and 2 grandkids to Disney this coming January. It will be there 4th visit there. Sure hope they still "feel the magic" on this trip since they are getting older. Grandson has already informed me that "no way am I standing in line to meet with any of the characters". We'll see - a grandma can still hope that he'll be "feeling the magic" once he walks thru the gates!

Wow, I love how relaxed your trip is. I hope someday when DH and I go alone it will be like that. Now, with the kids, we try and do a lot and see a lot but I see us doing it more relaxed in the future.

So excited to see an update today after a long and boring day of jury duty!! How does Rig stand swimming in jeans!?! Can't wait to read more!

How does Rig stand swimming in jeans!?!

Melissa

Yeah -- that's kind of going into the unbeliveable realm-- that and no lifeguard! but, still a thoroughly enjoyable, fun read.

there's a menu in the room, it's an off property place that it comes from but still Disney quality in taste! Just a warning they add gratuity to it.

Do you remember the pizza place? I remember wanting to order some pizza from off property but well thats a longer story:rotfl:

Yeah -- that's kind of going into the unbeliveable realm-- that and no lifeguard! but, still a thoroughly enjoyable, fun read.

Depends on what time they went swimming..At OKW they said lifeguards leave at 10pm so swim at your own risk after that but swimming in jeans oh wow

Its not unusual for people in the country to swim in the jeans at least from where I'm from in Missouri.

Have a great trip and I'm sure the magic will still be there for the kids and hopefully your grandson will change his mind about meeting the characters.

Relaxed is a great way to go, but everybody has their own needs. I just liked being there regardless of what we were doing.

Rig has always just worn jeans. :confused3

Yeah -- that's kind of going into the unbeliveable realm-- that and no lifeguard! but, still a thoroughly enjoyable, fun read.
I very seldom saw a ligeguard at the computer pool, I saw them all the time at the flower pool though. and really is it so unheard of that somebody would just swim in jeans? If it doesn't bother him what does it matter? I could care less and he's not the first person I know to have done that. ;)

Do you remember the pizza place? I remember wanting to order some pizza from off property but well thats a longer story:rotfl:
no I don't remember the name, it was a menu in the room and it had different specials and prices on it. I don't know if all the resorts had this in their room, but it was in ours so we ordered from it.

Depends on what time they went swimming..At OKW they said lifeguards leave at 10pm so swim at your own risk after that but swimming in jeans oh wow
C'mon people, he swam in jeans so what?:lmao: But yeah, the lifeguard was very seldom at that pool. People were very seldom at that pool, the flower pool was pretty busy though.

When we were at OKW we were right next to the Turtle Pond Pool and we never had a life guard out there at night when we went

I knew there were others out there. ;) I have never swam in jeans, not intentionally anyway, but your right country folk do tend to just swim in whatever.

When we were at OKW we were right next to the Turtle Pond Pool and we never had a life guard out there at night when we went
sometimes during the day the pool would be without a life guard, probably because their wasn't anybody swimming though?:confused3

Another great update Lee! I've seen plenty of people swim in jeans, maybe not a WDW but if you don't have swimtrunks whats a guy to do? When DBF and I stayed at All-Star Sports there was hardly ever a lifeguard at the baseball pool but always at the main pool. :confused3

I believe this pizza delivery is only offered at the Values. I too have ordered from this service and the pizza and service was perfect. You can order pizza, soda, desserts, etc. It's pretty nice!

And yes, they do add gratuity for the delivery. If you don't want to pay the extra, just hit the food court at the resort and get your pizza there.

P.S. The pizza box features Mickey and Friends on top. Kinda cool! pluto:

Thanks for the tips on the pizza place. We are staying at a value resort for the first time in December and we will be "short" 1 counter service meal so I'm thinking we can just order pizza one night..perfect! One pizza will feed my family so it shouldn't be too expensive. Plus, I can get a salad and it shouldn't be so expensive.

I really liked that the delivery service also provided the plates, napkins and utensils. Something that never occurred to me when we ordered it. HA! They are on their toes!

My family and I were in a room Hippy Dippy Pool location - pool side and were sitting at a table outside of our room. We saw the delivery girl and she carried our food over to the table. I offered to carry it since we weren't in our room and it wasn't her job to carry it around for me, but, she insisted. The service was fast and friendly.

I recommend it for sure!
