We just came back from a wonderful week in Fort Wilderness. We had a Great week there and I miss it already. Let me start out with the cast : Myself a 52 year old obsessed planner, my 30 year old son, his girlfriend also 30, my daughter 29 and my 4 year old grandson, whom this vacation was buillt around. I wanted to make this a birthday that he would never forget, and I believe that I achieved that
We stayed in a cabin in the 2600 loop, and it was wonderful to see all of the decorations that people had up for Halloween. We rented a golf cart for the week, and that was Evans best thing for the whole week. If I would have known that, I could haved saved a ton of money and taken him to one of the local golf courses here !!
The weather was great--warm and sunny except for Thursday when we had a good old fashion thunderstorm that lasted for about 1 hour.
On Sunday we went to the Magic Kingdom, and I can't believe how wonderful it is to see it though a little ones eyes. It was the first of many grandma happy tears as he would call them.
We did not wait for more than 10 minutes for any ride the whole day, we could not believe how little the crowds were. Evan got to ride Dumbo with Stitch, and that was a magical Moment for me. We did get a real Magical Moment, but more about that later.
On Monday we went to Epcot and we rrode Test Track twice and Soaring three times. We also made it to the other side to eat our way through the countries. And eat we did with the Food and Wine Fest. going on. We sampled so much food between the 5 of us, that I long for the Beer Cheese Soup as I am writing this.
Tuesday we had 8 AM reservations for Breakfast with Donald Duck, and I was worried that we could get there in time. We caught the bus @7:30 and we made it in plenty of time. When we were in line for the Safari we were told that we had to wait for the next jeep, which was odd because there was plenty of room on the one that just left without us. Little did we know what was in store for us next. We were put in the front of the next jeep, and the driver made the announcement that we we the family that was picked to be the Grand Marshalls in the parade later on in the afternoon. Our Magical Moment was apon us, and again the grandma tears were flowing. Evan also got to choose any stuffed animal he wanted from the gift shop, and we also all got free ice cream the rest of the day. We rode on two cars in the parade, and that expierence will be with me forever. We also all got Mickey/ Minnie ears with our names on them. If I live to be 100 I will never ever forget that Magical Day.
More report to follow~~I have to go back to work tomorrow and I need to get things ready~~~~~~~~~~~~
