Day Two--June 7, 2002
Magic Kingdom Day

We woke up bright and early at 7:15am and my fiance was a little excited since he'd never been. We got ready in a fairly good amount of time. We went down to the boat dock and there were several people there and we thought it would be two boatloads before we got to MK so we hopped on the Contemporary boat. Big mistake. We got the Contemp and then waited for a monorail to MK. It was the last stop. We didn't get to MK until like 9:45am!! We should have just taken the boat or even walking would have been quicker! So we get to MK and the new security check does take awhile, but that's ok. I'd rather wait in line than have a terrorist attack occur. Once we got in the park we went towards Frontierland first. We meant to get Fastpasses for Splash Mountain but since we'd never used them before we mistakenly got Big Thunder Mountain Railroad ones. It ended up working out better for us in the longrun. BTMRR had longer lines if you can believe that! We got on Splash Mountain in 15 minutes without a FASTPASS!! It was a blast as usual. My fiance loved it. The drop blew him away...the picture of him is hilarious! I ended up buying it. So after that we went straight to Big Thunder Mountain and got right on and had great luck....we were in the back! The ride is so much fun when you're in the back, much faster!! We were laughing hysterical. Once we got off there we were heading towards Fantasyland to try to get a few rides in before lunch. On the way though we passed Haunted Mansion and the wait said 5 minutes! It was right! So we got in line for that. I think Mike was expecting it to be scarier, but he was impressed with the detail I could tell. When we got off that it was about 11:30am so we headed to the castle for our PS at Cinderella's Royal Table. I really enjoyed the decor here. It was so neat and being in the castle was a treat. They address you as Lords and Princesses which I thought was cute. My best friend remembered that and she kept saying throughout the trip, "But they told me I was a princess!" :) The atmosphere in the dining area was nice. It was a nice break from the park which I enjoyed. I got the chicken caesar salad and so did Erika. For $12 it was a great salad. Huge and delicious....we should have split one!! Mike had the Coachman sandwich and he loved it. He got a side of these weird salt and vinegar chips and then were sooooo good. We were too full for dessert so we paid our bill and left. We got a FASTPASS for Peter Pan's Flight (line was 60 minutes!) From there we did It's a Small World because Erika just HAD to. I could pass on the ride and I knew Mike would hate it, but we did it. I suppose it wouldn't be a visit to Disney World without it ;) Mike got really tired of the song though. By the time we waited in line for the ride and actually got off of it, it was nearly time for Peter Pan. I hadn't been on this ride since 1998 and I love it to pieces so I was really looking forward to it. While it is short it is a great treat. Mike and Erika really liked the London scene. After that we walked over to Tomorrowland and got a FP for Space Mountain which was about an hour and a half later. So we got in line for Alien Encounter. The wait was posted at 45 minutes but we only waited 25 or so. I love this attraction....it is intense. Erika didn't remember it and Mike of course has never been so what a treat for me! :smooth: They both screamed like heck. But my fiance loved it. After that we got in line for Buzz Lightyear. That wait was pretty extensive....I wish we could have done FP. We waited about 40 minutes. Mike and Erika had the guns and I drove (spun). They were laughing pretty hard. Mike beat her by quite a bit: 24,500 to 2000. That ride is always enjoyable :) Finally our FP time came around so we got in the FP line for Space Mountain. Boy did we pass a lot of people...gotta love that!! We got right on. It was much more fun than I remember. I mean it's always been a blast but this time was way better than any other (perhaps it was Mike's continuous giggle that made it that way). We all screamed our heads off and he just kept laughing!! He loved Space Mountain more than anything I think! After that we took an ice cream break and shopped around a bit in Tomorrowland. I bought a few postcards. At that point it was about 3:30 and we decided to take a midday break even though we hadn't done Adventureland or Mickey's Toontown at all and still had a few attractions left in the other lands. We went back and rested for awhile in our room. Mike and Erika watched a bit of TV. I noticed it getting windy and somewhat cloudy and I was like NO!! We were going to do ENight (althought we hadn't paid for them) So we left for MK hoping to get there before it rained. No luck. Once we got to boat dock it started. We decided reluctantly to rough it. Once we got there we went down Main Street and stopped in a couple shops. Erika found her boyfriend something Disney with soccer on it so she wanted to get it for him. After that we headed straight for Pirates of the Caribbean because I refused to miss that ride!! It's one of my faves. There was no wait of course...almost had the boat to ourselves! Mike liked it pretty well but he couldn't believe I liked it so much  Oh well, I got it done :) Then we went to Pecos Bill's Cafe. I was pleasantly surprised. The burgers were really good and they had a huge fixings bar!! This made all of us very happy because the burger was so much better that way! It was still raining when we went out of the restaurant. I could tell they were ready to go. It was almost 9pm anyway. Then Mike decided we should try for Space Mountain. We ran over there and there was NO LINE. We got on in a second! However we rode the left side track and I observed a few things: Riding at night isn't as much fun because your eyes are adjusted to the dark and you can see the track. Also it did seem as if that track wasn't as good or long or something. Oh well...we enjoyed riding it again anyway. When we got out the fireworks were going so we caught the tail end. I was disappointed because we didn't see the afternoon parade (I'm a big parade fan) and I wanted to try Jungle Cruise (since I never have) & Tiki Birds & Hall of Presidents (haven't been since '91), but they didn't get done. Didn't even get to the Treehouse! :( I also would have liked to try Tom Sawyer's Island, but that closed at dusk so no chance there either. We went to the boat dock and there were hordes of people in line. We waited anyway. We barely fit on the boat. We did get to see the Electrical Water Pageant which was nice. It's really neat! We got back to the resort and Mike saw the arcade and of course had to stop. Erika and I walked back to the room. I must say that Villas at the WIlderness Lodge is unbelieveable at night. The atmosphere is so unique and I really wished we could stay longer at the resort. Walking on the little bridge to the VWL just the lanterns are lit and you can hear sounds of crickets and other little animals and it is just so neat. Mike ended up realizing the arcade wasn't that great and came back to the room and got me so we could take a walk before leaving. We went to the Mercantile and bought some souvenirs...deck of cards, long sleeved T shirt, postcards. Then we walked back to the VWL portion and took some pictures of the lobby area. Then we went back to the room and got ready for bed and packed up our stuff since we checked out the next morning.
