I made ressies back in Nov. for WL for my 50th BD in Feb. Didn't make a big deal out of what room I would be in, as it was my first stay. They noted it was my 50th BD on the ressie, and that was that. Now, fast forward to Feb. and my trip is here!:thumbsup2 Check in on Sunday Feb. 3 to WL at 8:30am, my room isn't ready, but it is around 11am when I call. I was at AK at the time, so I just waited till I left AK and went to the room than. At 5:30 I got up to the room, and found I had a view of......not much.:confused3 A truck like area, and trees, but threw the trees I could see Contemporary on one side, and the Momorail in the middle. (Room 5052). I did notice a card from Mickey/Minnie with 2 HB Balloons on the table!:thumbsup2 :cool1: So I settled in for the night, got my luggage, ordered room service, which was awesome by the way! Around 8pm, I was watching the Stupid Bowl, and heard what sounded like furniture being "moved around" rather LOUDLY! Turned out, I had a PERFECT VIEW of the FIREWORKS from MK!:yay: :woohoo: I found this out, when I decided to look out the sliding glass doors!;) So, if anyone gets room 5052, looks can be deceiving!;)

Wow, I will have to note that room for future requests. Anyone know if you can see the Fireworks from any of the DVC rooms?

Ed

DH and I had room 5048 at WL for our anniversary in December and you're right. Looks can be deceiving. The CM who checked us in said she wanted to give us a good view and went through several rooms to find one she liked. When we got in the room we saw trees, the smokhouse and the generator. I was stunned one night when I looked out and saw that beautiful blue shimmering castle. We had a perfect view of Wishes and Christmas Wishes. That blue castle at night was amazing.

Sounds like a great view after all Pooh Bear. ;) By the way, HAPPY 50th BIRTHDAY!!!

I'm glad you had a good stay at the Wilderness Lodge! Congratulations on the great view, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :)

Unfortunately not really Ed. Remember most dvc resorts were added onto after the original building went up. They are very nice views but mainly wooded.

We checked out on 2/3 and stayed just down the hall from you. :-) We love the view from the North wing!

Is that where I was? COOL! I might request that next time.;) Hey, did your shower head suck? Ours did, and the bath-tub filled UP as we were taking our Showers, did yours?:confused3 We got both a shower and foot wash at the SAME TIME!

Before we purchased into DVC, we always stayed at the lodge and had rooms in the lobby above Whispering Canyon, and had views of the fireworks. It all used to be standard views, and then they changed the rooms above WC to woods view category. I just wonder how long it will take Disney to realize when most people request these rooms that they will upgrade the category again to try and make more money.

Yes, our bathtub kept filling with water too. I didn't notice the shower head so much, I am pretty unobservant generally. :-)

I stayed at the WL from 2/2 to 2/9. I had requested a standard view room when I they said I was upgraded to courtyard view when I checked in. My view was of the WL villas courtyard but it was very nice. The WL was absolutely beautiful and I do not regret my slurge. Yes, the shower head did stink and the tub did fill with water until I adjusted the stopper.

Just two gripes with the WL. Roaring Forks is terribly undersized for the amount of rooms. If I did not get to it by 7am you were looking at a 30 minute wait to get your food and pay for it. Secondly the bus transportation was awful. Our first night we waited 45 minutes for a bus to take us to Hollywood Studios for Fantasmic. We also attended the Pirate and Princess party on the 5th and the bus from MK to WL did not appear for 50 minutes and that was after I had to go speak to an attendant at the bus stop. The best route we experienced from the WL was to and from Animal Kingdom. Otherwise the route always involved Fort Wilderness which turned out to be quite a detour in most cases.

When heading over to MK would you reccomend taking the boat? Also would we be better of taking the boat to MK and then the monorail to Epcot instead of a bus? We are going 12-7- 12-13. I really don't want to stand around waiting for a bus for 45 minutes with my 6 yo son!!

We can't wait to stay at the WL at Christmastime!

Gotta love that North Wing "standard view".;)

For the MK I would definetely go with the boat unless it is cold or raining. It is a fun way to get there!! I did not try the contemporary monorail to epcot route. I know that would require a monorail transfer at the ticket and transportation center at MK. Still a pretty cool route to take. The boat ride from WL to the contemporary took about 5 minutes.

I was there with Poohbear and the only time we had a bus issue was for AK on the 5th. We waited about 35 -40 mins and saw about 5 MK buses come and go.

We took the bus to Epcot, figured it was shorter than taking the boat to the MK then get on a monorail to the TTC and then get on another monorail to Epcot.

The buses from the parks were not bad either. We were at the P&P party on the 5th also and took a boat to and from the MK to the hotel. No buses. It was a nice relaxing boat trip and the wait was not long either.

Yep, thats the view I had, except one floor below!:thumbsup2 Glad to hear others had problems with the shower/tub combo. They really need to fix that.:headache: The Boat was awesome, as Mickey's Sunshine said, we should have just did the boat the whole time, it would have been better.;)
