Today is my first day at a job and I am scared silly. At first I was  :cool1: But now I am like upset and want to be sick... I do not know why I am so upset and nervous but I just am. It is at 4 at a fast food place and I do not want to go. But I need to make money. My parents keep telling me it will be fine but I am so nervous lol

I was the same way for my 1st. It was at Mc Donald's, and it ended up being amazing, and I did it for 4 years plus.

Don't worry, everyone is nervous, this is a good sign, it shows you care. Be honest about it, and good luck:goodvibes

I think everybody's nervous the first day of a job, whether it's their first job or 73rd. I'm sure you'll do fine! :thumbsup2

Thank you :) I am nervous and they know that I am nervous. They guy didn't know if I would be able to handle the job and if I would be to shy.. I am not a shy person normally around people I know but then I might be shy now. I think I am going to puke now.. lol sorry if that is TMI but I have butterflies in my stomach.. I am nervous because I do not know what to do when I get there.. what about my second day.. it is so nerve racking.

Everybody is nervous on the first job, but once you get the hang of it, you'll do just fine...good luck

So I started my job and wel lets be honest. I hate it. I do not want to go back. I have to work tonight but it is going to be forever and it is only 3.5 hours. Apparently I do things to slow. I was washing the tables and chairs down when I got back my trainer yelled at me and said I was to slow. It looked like it had not been washed all day long.... Then I did the milkshakes wrong. I want to quit. I do not know what to do though..

My first 'real' job was fast food, too, after years and years of babysitting.

You know what? It sucks. The boss yells, the customers yell, you smell grease all day long and have to wear a dorky uniform. I also got yelled at my first day, because I wasn't loading frozen burger patties into the broiler fast enough.

You know what else? Most kids quit right away. After about 3 weeks, I was one of the people who'd been there the longest; I lasted 4 months, just until I could get a better job.

And you know what else? After having many other jobs and completing two college degrees, my last employer asked about my job history that was too far back to list on my resume. I mentioned the babysitting and the fast food job. He was pleased to know that I'd done fast food! (What the heck?!) Apparently good employers recognize that fast food is hard work under poor conditions and demanding customers, and it says a lot about you that you did it. I was stunned.

No lecture from me as to what to do, I share your sentiments. I know how hard it is, and I don't deal well with yelling. I promise you there will be something better for you just around the corner, you just have to look for it. :)

I worked at two fast food places, Burger King and McDonald's. I only lasted a night at BK (it was my first experience at fast food).

I worked at McDonald's for about a year in HS and then went back during college (and became an asst. manager). It did suck and I hated it most days, but I stuck with it. Most jobs are going to suck, but they have their good points. I met a ton of people and I learned quite a bit. A lot of what I learned helped me to get better jobs later. Try to stick with it.

 it will get better, I guarantee it. There is so much to learn, but you will. Everyone is slow in the beginning..Just grin and bear it....

Good luck to you:grouphug:
