My first friend in Facebook

My fellow Dissers. The oddest event occurred to me today. I took my son to our credit union to a branch we never use. I mean never. While he was getting money, I looked up and saw an old high school student whose face I had seen on facebook! The similarity was uncanny so I quietly bothered her and asked if she went to my old high school

She did and I said, "I know your name from facebook. Is it Joy?" And it was!!!

Here's the amazing part. She doesn't live anywhere near here. She is in Seattle Washington and they were doing some banking for a couple of houses they own here in Vancouver. So what are the odds of running into someone from Seattle in a place as big as Vancouver (suburb, actually).

She was a successful business woman who now runs an entertainment company or two.

And that is the story of my first friend from Facebook.

I actually recognized 2 people from Facebook out and about. One was a girl I graduated high school with...what's scary is I recognized her kids from pics she posted on FB! And then another guy I went to grade school with...we ran into each other in Toys R Us at 5:30 am on Black Friday! We both wondered how many times we had crossed paths over the years without knowing who each other was! Gotta love Facebook.

I had someone from FB call me!!

She looked me up after I posted about Karissa's upcoming MRI. She just wanted to let me know that she had been there and it was going to be ok. She went to the same HS as I did and she said she worried about calling but once we got to talking we realized who each other was! Neither one of us recognized the other and we dont have our maiden names on our pages. So she took a shot. I was so glad she did! And very grateful for the conversation We were friends in HS and it was great to reconnect.

I have had so much fun catching up with people on there. I found a friend of the family that we havent seen since I was about 5 but our parents have written back and forth ever since. Thats been fun. And so many of my friends from HS are on there that it has been wonderful to find out "how life turned out" for all of them
