Well..overall we had a WONDERful time! Of course, it started out a bit rough with the hurricane and all and we did miss a day.
Saturday: We flew into Ft. Myers and stayed out the storm with my mother
Sunday: went shopping with mom during the tropical storm type winds..that was exciting!
Monday: Rented a car from Ft Myers airport and drove to PE...took about 2 hours. Dropped car off at Thrifty and got a cab to the Port (thrifty shuttles where bascially only going to the airport) We checked in around noon and were on the ship by 12:45 or so after waiting to upgrade. We were in room 2578...it had an awesome huge window..not sure what cat that was..but I really liked the room..no noise whatsoever. Our room host was Cesar...he was not really Wonderful or anything...we seemed to get in his way more than anything..he did towel animals and chocolates but nothing extra. Our room was kept nice and clean so I have no complaints about that. THE SHIP WAS LIKE A GHOST TOWN at the sailaway party and I couldn't help but feel bad for those families who did not get to enjoy it...they were very missed. We ate at Parrott Cay which was very good and then hung out at the adult pool and hot tubs (we went without the kids!) That night we ate at Animators Palate which was great...I LOVED the Butternut Squash soup!!! We did not leave the port until 10:45pm and I saw a mother and daughter get on a lower gangway at 10:30pm.
Tuesday: 3-4am was awakened by bright light in my window as we pulled into Castaway Cay to drop off the CM's. I did fall back asleep thankfully! We didn't get to Nassau until like 10:30ish and so we cancelled out Blue Lagoon Beach day excursion since we wanted to take the 2pm ferry back for Palo ressies at 6:30 that would not have been much of a beach day if you consider the 40 min ferry ride in each direction. We went into the straw market and it was hot and crowded...got some things for the girls and headed back to the ship for relaxation! We ate lunch at Pluto's and got pretty good cheeseburgers and fries. The CM's were serving frozen drinks around the pool...they were very attentive. Ate at Palo that night and it was very good. Our server was excellent but I found that I felt silly and unable to relax because I felt like I had a servent...does that sound weird. As a mom, I am not used to having someone cater to ME..lol. It took about 2.5 hours for dinner and then I just wanted to walk it off around decks 9 and 10. We got formal shots with Minnie and Mickey.
Wednesday: At sea day..left Nassua at 8:45ish (note we did stay overnight in port since we got there late on Tuesday). Went up to deck 10 and watched us pull out. Got ready for Palo brunch which was very good!!! We got thank you notes from both of our servers (dinner and brunch)..that was a nice touch. NO LUNCH that day obviously..but did have cookies on deck 9 in the late afternoon. We sat at the adult pool ALL DAY and read...it was heavenly but my butt was so sore from those chairs..they were slightly uncomfortable for some reason? But it gave me a reason to get up and walk around. Wednesday night went to Disney Dreams which was very good..can't wait to bring the kids as we rebooked onboard for Dec 05. Dinner at Tritons...ok...it was hard to go back after the food at Palo..lol. Servers were Judy and Deniz (normally Deniz is in Palo but not this trip)...they were very excellent and Judy was a hoot!
Thursday..again was awaked at like 4am ish as we pulled into Port Canaveral...but i did fall back asleep for a bit. Disembarkation was a breeze and we were on our bus in 10 mins flat even checked in for our US Airways flight at the port.
Random thoughts. The goofy and Mickey pools were very crowded even though we were not a very full cruise...wonder what it must be like on a normal cruise? We had plenty of loungers at the adult pool but limited shady space. I was annoyed by the fumes that were present onboard while they started the drydock early..it was a very noxious odor...like acrylic paint and also some burning rubber type smells. The were working about 5 feet from the adult pool so it made it hard not to notice it. Much to my husbands dismay the ESPN skybox was closed but we managed. I am very prone to motion sickness so I wore my sea bands at all times when we were not in port and had no problem...did not need to take any meds. Our seas were very calm..had wavelets..lol. .5 feet or so? IF YOU GET OFF THE BOAT EARLY FOR A FLIGHT DON'T CHECK IN AT THE PORT IF YOU PLAN TO TRY TO GET AN EARLIER FLIGHT. We had an 11:45 flight but we got to the airport by 9am...we could not take the 2 earlier flights because our bags were taken at the port and thus were not with us. Oh well..more time to visit the disney store in Orlando airport!
The food overall was good but I was a little disappointed after all the raving people have done..it was good but not anything I was amazed over. the best thing I ate the entire cruise was this mushroom rosotto with a basalmic reduction from Palo..now that was awesome. The deserts were ok...I think the cheesecake factory does a better job.
Overall, I had a great experience..no lines for anything, no motion sickness, BEAUTIFUL Weather, it was romance at sea...really. I would rec this cruise to anyone....but at least 4 nights..not 3. We did rebook on board as I said earlier but I was under the impression that everyone got 10% off and OBC...but it is just the 7 night that you get 10% off on. We did get some pictures of the Magic pulling in next to us at PE and i will be posting them tonight hopefully.
Any questions or comments?
