Sorry to sound so novice, but how is selective coloring done? Is it through editing, like with PhotoShop? Do you take the original shot in color?

Thanks...again, sorry for the basic questions. :rolleyes1

Yep, I use PSE5. I use these instructions http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/pselements/ss/partialcolor.htm . There are other ways to do selective coloring, maybe even easier ways, but these instructions were the easiest ones for me to understand out of what I had found. Once you start, you will be amazed at how easy it is!!!

I want to learn how to do this!! What software do you use?? Is it expensive?? Please help me be creative like you!:yay:

Check out my post above you. I use Photoshop Elements 5.0. This soft ware will set you back around $75 - $100 (I think, haven't price checked lately). I bought mine at BestBuy.com right before Christmas. They were running it on special for $50!!!!

ETA: It is on sale right now, not as great a price as I got, but still cheaper than alot of places http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...t&productCategoryId=cat01180&id=1157067062027

Can you also use PaintShop Pro? I found it cheaper than Photoshop, but I don't want to buy it if I can't do the coloring.

Thank you ladies!! I will start saving my pennies!! I have been spending SO much money lately my DH is going to have a cow!

I did this picture with Paint Shop Pro. I duplicated the layer, set the saturation to -100 (you can also use grey scale) and then erased over the parts that I wanted to show.

Thanks! I am downloading the trial right now. Hopefully, I can figure out how to use it. If I like it, then I'll purchase it.

Wow what a great shot :thumbsup2 , nicely done.

Thanks, glad you liked it! The funny thing with the photo is that it is actually turned upside down! Char was looking straight back up at me when I took it but I didn't like the angle and rotated it 180 degrees.
