So I normally do everthing with my family- everything that is- except exercise- in that area I'm alone! :rotfl: I have signed up for the DIsney Princess Half Marathon- my very first half marathon- and I will be going alone. I have a ton of questions and worries! What do I do for me when I for the first time am not having to worry about keeping the kids entertained? What are the best places to eat as a solo guest? I'm used to planning for 5! Also, what should I expect form the value resort? Normally we stay in a Deluxe, but since its just me I figured why not save money and try out a value?! Are there really a lot of differences between the two? What things should I take advantage of since i only have to worry about me?! This is a whole new world for me. I'm excited yet nervous at the same time. Also, those of you who have run this race before- any tips? I've run 2 10Ks so far and finished around 58 min in both races. Can I do it- oh yes I can- but what are some good tips to help in my training? You all are awesome and I appreciate any info/help you could provide!

Your story is exactly like mine! My very first solo Disney trip was also to complete my very first race - the Princess! I had a blast.

I made ADRs for my 2 must-dos - breakfast at Boma and dinner at Kona - for 1 and never felt uncomfortable.

I enjoyed getting up when I wanted and going out when I wanted and getting on rides faster using the single rider line. Plus I got to ride rides that I usually don't because the family doesn't want to.

I had a plan and schedule (because that's who I am), but I also veered off schedule when I wanted to. I decided to stop playng in the parks and stroll DTD for some shopping and I didn't have to deal with the whining from my son. The whole trip was awesome!

As for the training, you will probably have more luck asking for advice on the WISH board. Good luck! :thumbsup2

Just to offer trips about the 1/2. DH and I are doing our first 1/2 at F&W on Oct 2. We both work out a lot, and he's run a couple of 5K, but that's it. Just do some research and find a program that works for you. DH found a 1/2 marathon program that has him running 4 days a week. Mine is only 3 days (a speed day, a tempo run, and a long run) because I also go to spin class. Our programs are different, but they seem to be both working. I just finished my longest run of 12 miles this weekend - quite frankly - not so fun! I had done 10 3 times before and had not had a problem with it, but when I hit 9 this weekend, I thought I still have 3 left instead of 1! Anyways, I ended up walking/running the last 2 miles and finished in 1:53. Not quite as fast as I wanted, but I'm hoping the adrenaline at DW will kick in and give me extra pep! Who knows, if I love it, maybe I'll have to do the princess too!:goodvibes Oh, and I've stayed at a value, and I think you'll be fine. It's just you, so space, which would be my only issue, will not be a problem. The values have really good food courts too!

thanks for the help you guys! I've always wanted to try Boma and Kona so now maybe this will be my chance! I workout a ton and have always ran, but not more than 9 miles at a time. I'[m still looking for a good training program.

Sorry - I should have told you, DH found his plan at marathonrookie.com,and mine is the 3 day program for the 1/2 on runner's world. You'll do great if you can already do 9!:goodvibes

Hey, that's a pretty good time for walking the last two miles! You won't have any problems at the Half. Maybe we will be in the same corral.
